Lovely meal, great varied menu using different ingredients. Great atmosphere and very friendly and attentive staff. Certainly the best place to eat locally and would highly recommend - more suitable for adults.

Great service and lovely food, good atmosphere and very friendly staff, wanted to try all their starters they sounded so good. Had a 15% off voucher and the kind staff gave me another one after the meal!

Excellent quality food and great service in nice surroundings. Only slight criticism would be that it would be nice to have a better selection of vegetables to go alongside our main courses. Despite this, we'll definitely be returning as we've heard fantastic reviews about their Sunday roast dinners!

Great food, great venue. Tables are a little close together which makes it a little noisy and hard to hear other people talking on your table.

Great food and atmosphere - flavoursome and variety of meals was great from fish to various meat and vegetarian options. Drink selection could be better but with such a small place - space is tight.

Great Sunday lunch for fathers day! Attentive service and tasty food. Never had a roast dinner served with a choice of meats on a board but works well! Will be back again soon.

Service was excellent. Atmosphere was pleasant. Food was good but not good enough to warrant the price tag. It was the same quality of food that you get in high street chain restaurants such as Bills and Ask, but cost a third more for no apparent reason.

Overall an enjoyable place to socialise and eat. We went for Sunday lunch and although the choice of starters was limited the food was good although the roast potatoes were slightly dry and firm which we remarked on and our waitress said we weren't the first to mention this fact and the chef himself was unimpressed with the quality of the product he had received, maybe next time we will see a difference as we would go back.

Great restaurant. Owner really friendly and all food locally sourced. We had the soup for starter and steak for main. Both delicious. Liked decor of the place too.

Gorgeous food. Excellent service. Relaxed atmosphere. Perfect. You can taste the ethos of the restaurant in every mouthful. Fresh seasonal local (where possible) produce - cooked by chefs who care, without being poncey.

What a great restaurant a hidden gem of Braintree. Perfect for any event. Amazing food from a great menu, good selection of wine, good atmosphere with lovely friendly staff.

Really lovely evening food was great, service and staff really attentive. The only complaint would be one meal sent out very overcooked, the chef was defensive. However before we could complain the manager came over and apologiesed. He quickly took control and rectified the situation with minimal fuss. Would definitely go back.

Went on a Friday with parents, lovely atmosphere and the food was wonderful. My father had the mussels as starter which he was more then happy with he can be fussy. We all had the fish and chips and desert. We were very full...

First time at this restaurant as just moved to area. Food was very good. All tasted fresh and proper comfort food. Varied menu to suit all tastes. Customer service and relaxed atmosphere was excellent. Will definitely go again.

Went here for Sunday lunch with 3 friends. I can honestly say it was the best roast dinner I have ever had. Lovely waitress who was very friendly and attentive, can't wait to go back.

This was our first visit to the Chophouse and while we enjoyed the food and the excellent service, we felt a bit cramped and thought that the menu was a bit limited. But we do intend to try the Sunday lunch some time in the future.

Quirky, small restaurant with a big heart. Good choice of food and drinks, impressive 'specials' and good service helped enhance the evening. Unusual menu choices, such as pork collar and ox cheek with the usual classics of steak and chicken, meant that all tastes could be catered for. A quite expensive evening compared to other restaurants in Essex, but worth it for the experience.

Wonderful meal , nice relaxed atmosphere. We booked as a treat for our son who has a great appetite and he wasn't disappointed. Will be going back for sure.

Couldn't fault the place or the staff. Getting us a drink as it was our anniversary was also a nice touch. However, the food was awful. Everything was way over salted and my wife's lamb was just a pile of fat. It's taken till now to stop both of us feeling queasy! And how on earth you can charge £10.50 for one scallop ravioli as a starter is beyond belief. The wine was lovely though. We could've spent £120 on something far better..... Don't be put off though, perhaps we just picked the wrong things.

Food was of a good standard and well priced (Sat lunch menu), with a varied wine list. Would definitely go back. Very pleasant service. We were sat by the door which felt a little cramped - best to ask for a table further in.

It was lovely calm environment . The food was tasty however the bill at the end of the night was astronomical. Service was good . Only a few couples on the night we went which made the serving quicker

Good, well flavoured food. Vegetables are cooked to a very professional standard. Constantly changing specials board - which I always seem to choose from! Service is sufficiently attentive and you feel you could ask a question and you would be helped appropriately. Drinks slightly expensive. Now one of my local favourites.

Not sure if actual booking from this platform reached the restaurant although they were very accommodating. Apparently our waiter was in training, where it was evident he should not yet be waiting on his own yet
