Very good service, from greeting to leaving. Staff happy to answer questions regarding the menu. Prompt food service. Very good food presentation and all delicious.

Lovely restaurant and atmosphere. Food was of very good quality and plenty of it. Friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you. Looking forward to my next visit

The food was great, the restaurant and staff were lovely, BUT they ran out of Pinot Grigio, they didnt have the main course available that both my husband and I chose, so we had to opt for something else, and the soup they were serving was not as shown on the menu! Not a great first impression! But that said, we did enjoy what we had, and would go back to give The Chophouse a second chance.

Amazing food and amazing venue with beautiful ambience perfect for a conversation with partner or friends over a meal or drink. I had the simply gorgeous Bone Marrow for starters as recommended by staff. For main i had gammon and smoked mash. The smoked mash was out of this world. Desserts were heavenly

Birthday meal. Sunday roast was superb. Set menu but very good choice of starters and desserts. You never feel rushed and can eat and drink at your leisure. Excellent as always

Very good atmosphere and very attentive service small issue with one meal was resolved quickly so that it did not affect an otherwise perfect evening

Food was very good. Our table wasn't in a great spot, very cold every time other customers went out to the smoking area as we were right by the door. Felt like an extra table had been squeezed in to what should have been a walking area. Staff attentive although we had to ask for food menus after waiting for them for around 10 minutes after sitting down.

Another wonderful meal! Will be back soon to try the duck as my friend said it was exquisite. So great to have you in Braintree.

The food was excellent and the service attentive, but unhurried. We loved sitting outside in the garden before having desert. All in all, a great experience that we will repeat soon.

So impressed on my first visit that i returned less than a week later. The beers from Bishops Nick are always a bonus as well as Aspalls Cider 😉

Wonderful food, great atmosphere and although it was very busy food come out in good time not rushed . All together a great dining experience.

Great food, If you can try to sit upstairs where you will get disturbed less by the front door opening straight into restaurant but still good service and great food

Attentive, friendly, smart, efficient and professional service by staff who know their product and take pride in their restaurant. Good, fresh, hot, clean tasting food, well presented Generous, flavoursome dishes, interesting choices from a menu that offers a chance to try something new with confidence. Surprisingly diverse, great use of ingredients. Unexpectedly "Vibrant"atmosphere thanks to a hen party in situ but that didn't spoil the eating despite somewhat limiting the opportunity for quiet conversation. Would recommend and revisit.

Brilliant service from staff that were attentive but not overbearing. Loved the little things like coming to our table with all the Tiptree gins so we could choose and their patience as we paid separately. We left with full bellies and big smiles. Well done team.

Nice venue although very noisy when it got busy. Table used for 4 was far too small so very cluttered. Starters and main menu good but desserts were a disaster. Very small on a large plate never looks good, one was not eaten due to it not being representative of the description and being tatsteless as well. Yes this was refunded and 1 complimentary coffee. A very expensive bill at the end finished off an overall ordinary experience so not what we call value for money and we do not worry about price as long as you get value.

Excellent food and service, will be making this a regular event. The Sunday roast was a different approach with a range of meats ... all fabulous

Lovely Saturday lunch with the unlimited prosseco option - it really is unlimited, our glasses were topped up non stop. All three courses were fantastic.

Fantastic dinner. Charming staff, lovely atmosphere, superb food, what more can you want? Thoroughly recommend giving this restaurant a try, I will certainly be back.

Another great night at The Chophouse, excellent service, fabulous food & a really good atmosphere. I'm hoping they'll restock the St Germain so I can have a Left Bank cocktail on my next visit. See you again soon.

Fantastic evening - great meal, lovely staff and comfortable surroundings. Booked a table for two and sat upstairs as it was busy. Even though there the place was full all evening we got first class service.

Great ambiance, food and service. Would recommend this fine restaurant. The only thing to bear in mind when going is there are no parking facilities nearby.

A very nice 3 course lunch meal. This was our first time there and would go again. The staff were very friendly and the service was good.

Only have one fault and that was how long it took to get our drinks. Everything else was amazing. Food was cooked perfectly, and the service was on point!!

Lovely staff and fantastic food. Well worth a visit. We will definitely go back. Different angle on Sunday lunch but a great idea, 3 meats, 7 veg dishes potatoes yorkshires and pigs in blankets. Too full to sample dessert!

Love it here and for a local restaurant,a little treasure. Food is always good, the owner is always on site and friendly,he works very hard to keep updating. Well presented and good choice for lunch. They have specials in the evening too.

Food was good value for money. Shame they had 3 items missing from a limited menu. Friendly staff nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend for lunch. Not been there for dinner yet.

Although the restaurant was busy the service was very good. The staff are friendly and professional. We all enjoyed the Sunday roast. Plenty of meat, accompaniments and range of vegetables. Certainly plan to go again.

Excellent food and service. Nice decoration and atmostphere. My mum is gluten intolerant they were accommodating and there was a great choice. This was the second time of visiting and had another great experience.

Very nice lunch from the reasonably priced set menu, cosy, intimate atmosphere and friendly attentive staff - impressed, do not eat out often but will defo visit again.

Fab food, fab Prosecco! Our waiter Nial ensured our glasses were topped up from the moment we started sipping and he kept them full throughout our entire meal and after! The food was really good, the calamari was cooked perfectly and my beef stew and huge crispy dumpling was spot on....rich and full of flavour. We will be returning!

Excellent food and service as usual. Wanted to leave a tip via my debit card as had no cash but the extra goes to the management for breakages not the staff 😡 So if paying by card take a little cash for the excellent staff.

Booked The Chophouse at the last minute. Somehow we had missed out on going there for the last few years, even I though live in Braintree. Excellent, food, atmosphere and service. We will be back!

Friendly service with excellent food. This restaurant has been though various changes of ownership and we had not eaten there for many years so we were delighted by what we found and will definitely return again soon.

Pretty good a long wait to order and the salmon ravioli special starter was very dry obviously dried out before serving , but the meal was very good overall

We visited on a Friday lunchtime and it was lovely and quiet. The food was excellent, and the staff attentive. We will definitely be returning!

Had a great evening at the chophouse. I chose the lamb special but it was tough!!!! the starters and desserts were very good - the vegetarian option main was disappointing too. However the staff and service was excellent.

Fantastic evening full of delicious food and ambience. Only thing we felt that hampered our night was our table was right by the door and wall. My husband and i both crammed in and there wasnt much room to move as the whole floor was packed full of tables and people. We could not fault the food - it was superb as always, just a shame on the seating.

Lovely little restaurant. I believe we were served by the owner who obviously takes a massive pride in his business. We watched him patiently showing the young waitress how to set tables to an immaculate standard. The Menu was small and each dish executed perfectly. The mash was smoked bone marrow / butter infused, something I have never had before and was gorgeous. All of the courses were good. The drinks menu was right up our street with a large gin selection. We will return.
