The Coconut Tree - Bournemouth

Nicely decorated venue, well spaced tables and floor markings. Toilets were a little shabby, but I guess they’re well used if they are as busy every night as they were when we visited. But the food…. AMAZING! We shared 6 dishes (2 people) and a couple of side. The ranges of choice was great, everything sounded appealing, so we had a little help from the knowledgeable staff. Having spent some time in Sri Lanka some years 20 ago, a couple of dishes did bring back some happy memories, but overall the food was perfectly cooked and spiced. Really really excellent and highly recommended!

the food was plentiful and very good especially the vegetable dishes. The chicken was tasty and tender but the pork was rather tough both in the pork with pinapple and the black pork belly. We ordered far too much but we enjoyed the amazing variety of flavours especially the salsa and the coconut sambol. The Fat Sister (pumpkin) was probably the star of the show.

The first time we had tried Sri Lankan food. The waiter was extremely helpful and suggested the different dishes plus Monday to Wednesday's food is half price too. The food came quickly and was very tasty, just too much for us but we took a few doggy bags home. Definitely would recommend The Coconut Tree.

We love TCT and I know these are difficult times for everyone. However, the speed of service was poor. Although the staff are great - there was only 2 on the floor and it was fairly full, so, they were doing their best, but there needed to be 1-2 more. This was the first day re-open after lockdown so I’m sure service will return back to normal soon, though I have to say the food was delicious!

We were expecting great things after looking online at the reviews and menu and we weren’t disappointed! We had cocktails that were set fire at the table, great theatre and they tasted amazing too! The food was outstanding, we tried lots of things that we’d never tried before and everything was so tasty! If you are in the area, this is a must visit!

Since returning from a holiday in Sri Lanka, short of cooking it ourselves, we’ve not been able to find authentic tasting Sri Lankan food. Coconut Tree is absolutely spot on! Great tasting dishes. Well presented. And every dish tastes just like I remember! Every mouthful is delightful. Even though we live an hours drive away, it was well worth the trip. See you again soon.
