The Devonport

Overall a good experience. The food was very enjoyable but the chips were disappointing. Staff were very pleasant but over attentive, constantly asking if we wanted more drinks and badgering us for our order. We said we didn't want to see the sweet menu but it was brought to us anyway. The refurbishment is very impressive. I look forward to visiting in the summer to take advantage of the outside area and lovely views.

We ate at the Devenport last night and today, (Sunday lunch ). Saturday night was poor, service wasn't good, two starters were served cold, ( which weren't charged for ) and overall food quality was not as good as it should be. Sunday lunch was better as was the service. The beef should have been served as ordered which was well done and not still oozing blood and it would have been better if it had been hot! !. Everything could have been good as the place has been done up well and it's a nice atmosphere, guess it just needs a bit more attention to detail.

Excellent meal and service would recommend this restaurant. Newly refurbished good atmosphere.Will be returning in the not to distant future biews over the river Tees.

Fantastic food and service - beware of the fish pie though if you don’t like sea creatures poking out of your food 🤣🤣🤣. My wife had fish pie and was shocked to find a small lobster looking thing poking out of it !!!! Pie was really nice otherwise

Very nice, relaxed atmosphere, lovely food, friendly service. We will definately be coming back. Particularly liked the fact that the tables weren’t too close together.

Very pleasant lunch in lovely surroundings and friendly staff. Had the fish and chips ( 2 for £15) which were both cooked beautifully. Will definitely be returning.

We were a party of 4 who were well looked after by the friendly staff. We had a good meal in a superb relaxing environment..

Since the recent takeover, the Devenport has been transformed into a lively, contemporary pub with really good food. Service is good and the ambience friendly. Will most definitely be back

Excellent food, atmosphere and superb service given by the friendly and attentive staff. We all enjoyed the food very much and had a fabulous girls nights out.

Beautiful restaurant, delicious food and great service. A lovely evening with friends. I had steak which was tender and cooked to my perfection. Fish and chips went down a storm too. I’m looking forward to going back soon.

Fresh, comfortable pub feel with an excellent no fuss menu. Staff are very accommodating and helpful. There is even an area that is set aside for those that just want a drink which is very important in this day and age when the emphasis seems to be just on food in the so called traditional pubs. Toilets are immaculate. I now feel I have found a great place to spend time and relax with friends and family. Well done to all.

Very good experience overall. Food, Staff and Service were very good. The only slight drawback was a lack of toilet paper in ladies toilets when used !

Had a lovely meal here last night with friends. Staff were very attentive, food was excellent. Decor is very nice. Loved the Christmas tree abdcsdcirations. Lovely festive atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

fantastic place to eat.Food was excellent my only gripe was the beer although very nice was overpriced at 4.95. Thought the staff were very friendly and sociable.Will definitely go back one day.

Visited for Sunday lunch yesterday. The service was a little hit and miss, had to chase up for a couple of things but the food was lovely.

Pleasant early evening meal although a little draughty from main entrance. The staff were welcoming and attentive and we had no complaints about the service we received.

Fantastic transformation of this old hotel in Middleton one Row. The meal was great, the service was excellent and we had a truly fabulous evening.

Best roast dinner I have had in a long time. Atmosphere was great and service was wonderful. I would highly recommend it for food or just drinks!

Decor and atmosphere was great as was the service. Food was generally disappointing. Too much fried food. The first steak served was unchewable. Curry need a bit more of a kick. Desserts are cream all the way. Fruit and inspiration please. How about some simple fish and an option of plain new potatoes. The menu inspired none of my party. A shame as it could be a wonderful place to eat.

Had a really lovely Sunday lunch today...friendly staff, great atmosphere, amazing refurb and exceptional food. If only we lived in the village as I’d love for this to be my local - we will be back 👌🏻

An excellent start to the reborn Devonport! Service excellent, menu relatively simple but very tasty indeed. Looking forward to seeing what the rooms are like as it will be an ideal place to put up corporate guests.

Classy pub/restaurant just re-opened, so don’t take any notice of reviews posted before October 2018. Good choice of meals which was very tasty and reasonably priced. Staff were attentive but not intrusive.

The Devonport has been reborn as a superb pub, restaurant and hotel following a major refurbishment by experienced team. Great food &friendly staff . Lovely night out, proper fish and chips, homemade beef pie, chowder was to die for, prawn tempera amazing, great atmosphere .....we will be back

Food was fantastic and good value. Service prompt and friendly. Only downside was that the place was clearly unfinished and opened slightly early. But we were there only a couple of days after opening and knowing the other restaurants in this ‘group’ this will be sorted and to a high quality. Looking forward to visiting in the summer and sitting outside to enjoy that view! Overall we had a great night at 'The Dev.’

Our first time at the revamped Devonport and we thoroughly enjoyed the fabulous food and a lovely warm atmosphere. Look forward to going back again to try more of the delicious choices on the menu.
