Great food and an excellent restaurant. The location is beautiful and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Lots of menu choices and the food was beautiful.
Service with a smile albeit a little slow our meals were well cooked and very tasty , we will certainly be going again to try out something else .
Excellent food and service, much improved since last time we ate here. The sirloin steak was extremely large but very tender and the chips were fantastic.
Good service, good food - they just can't add up the bill properly. It took 3 attempts to get it right! But that apart, it's a very good place.
Beautiful setting, starters, main course superb, pudding slightly disappointing but would not hesitate to go back. Nice and clean and very friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent food in wonderful ambience. Very helpfull and amusing staff who clearly added to the dining experience. my daughter said her fillet was the best
Slow, because the place was heaving, but friendly service and the food is delicious! Booking is a must because if you call without booking you might not enjoy this exceptional experience. We will be going back soon.
This pub has a spectacular view and position, also the staff are very pleasant and helpful! I ordered smoked salmon as a main dish expecting to get a substantial plate, when it arrived it was what I would call a starter size, which would have been 7.50 pounds, so presumably 15. pounds for a main! When I asked if mine was a main course, the server said yes, but later came back and said she had priced it as a starter for me! Not sure whether the amount I had, about 4 largish slices was an overpriced main, or a mistake in the order! Smoked salmon is available everywhere these days, and no longer a luxury, so even a small starter portion seemed overpriced! Otherwise a nice place!
Good food . Reasonable food pricing. Rooms getting a bit tired but for a pub Room 3 was reasonably quiet so a good nights sleep ensured. Staff friendly .
we booked for 1.30 Sunday lunch but did not get our food until 2.30..it was a glorious day and they had lots of tables outside all being served food so we decided that was why we had to wait for such a long time. Actually the food was really good and worth waiting for..the staff were helpful and we would go back but not on such a busy day.
Had a lovely meal with friends from outside the area. We all enjoyed it. The roast beef was very tender an my husband enjoyed the cod. Friendly staff would recommend it to my friends
Service was excellent, food was very good, setting was absolutely beautiful! 5 stars. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone. Would love to stay there in the future.
As a special treat we had a good choice of menu. When the food arrived it was well presented. The pub was busy but good atmosphere. Will go again
Excellent food, good value wine list and friendly service. Pity about the very loud group at the next table. Hopefully we were just unlucky with them.
Good food but shocking slow service. The kitchens can't seem to cope with numbers. Shouldn't run out of large bottled water! Parking was also not easy.
Lovely meal in delightful surroundings . Very attentive staff and good service. Set menu ideal for a lunchtime meeting. Will hopefully return soon for a repeat performance.
The staff were lovely and very helpful. It's a great location and the garden area has stunning views. The food was also wonderful, we will certainly be back.
It was a fab location and as we had arrived a lot earlier than our reservation, they had no problems agreeing to our request to eating earlier. The food was first class from a very good set price three course menu. No complaints and we will definitely return. Great real ales too a lovely gastro pub in a beautiful village with lovely walks nearby.
We had a very enjoyable lunch, just wish there were a few more options for light lunches for those of us who have to go home and cook dinner for our other halves !
The food was excellent, the menu spot on. We sat at a comfortable and discreetly secluded table. Our one criticism is that the service was rather slow.
The food we both had was amazing. Best meal I've had out in a while but the service was terrible. Very slow and uninterested staff who made multiple mistakes on ours and the surrounding tables. Still would not put me off returning though.
Good choice of dishes on the daily menu. Attentive, friendly service. Can accommodate groups of 6+ easily when booked in advance. Scenic location, with views of Rutland Water from the outside patios, where we had pre-dinner drinks.
Lovely food, friendly staff, great setting. Highly recommended if you want food that's been prepared with a bit more care, is not quite the norm and a little more special.
The service st lunchtime was really slow. Very Disappointing! We booked for lunchtime and spent 2.5 hours there for 2 courses. More staff required urgently.
Food was really nice but the service was ok at best. Orders taken down were wrong - one of the staff had to write our order down on the back of a menu she took from us - where was the notepad? Had to ask for our drinks at least twice! Food was very good when it did arrive. Perhaps the restaurant would do better to have senior staff at strategic stations around the restaurant and directing the other waiting staff rather than everyone running around a bit like headless chickens?
The staff were sloppy when serving , waiter nearly spilled water over my guest. He asked for a coaster for his drink which he said they didn't have any and gave his a bit of paper towel. This is the second time having Sunday lunch recently and have been disappointed with the experience.
The finches arms, serves delicious good quality food, with good service and reasonable prices. Highly recommended, lovely in the summer to dine outside, parking is the only problem on a summers day.
The food was a little pricey and the table we were allocated was adjacent to two large tables with parties on which meant it was noisy.
Disappointing on many levels. Having a restaurant in the same open area as a wedding reception is not sensible. Don't go expecting a quiet, romantic meal. It got so loud we asked to move so we could at least hear each other rather than the increasingly noisy celebrations going on nearby. It would have helped if we had been informed at the time of booking that a large party would be held at the same time. Management also needs to properly train its staff. I ordered a steak but wasn't asked how I'd like it done. We ordered coffees only for the waiter to walk away to prepare two americanos without giving us a chance to specify what time of coffee we preferred. I could go on believe me but hopefully I've given an impression of a chaotic, noisy venue supported by a willing workforce who all seem out of their depth when it comes to customer care. As for the litmus test, no we shan't be returning.
This place was recommended to us by the Barnsdale Lodge, where we were staying. We had an extremely pleasant lunch there and would thoroughly recommend it to others. The food was nicely presented and extremely tasty and the staff were pleasant. We shall certainly return when we are next in the area.
Excellent food, well served by unobtrusive staff despite the restaurant being very busy. Located in a very quiet village the car parking can be a challenge but we will most definitely return.
We arrived a little late and were rushed as they stop cooking at 2:30pm. That was a shame as the food and service was good. Quite expensive and the wine overpriced. Nice location
Great food, but service a bit slow. Great atmosphere in the restaurant and the menu was extensive enough to ensure it suited all of us
Have dined here many times which perhaps speaks for itself - we keep coming back! As usual, we were served delicious food which was well-presented and the staff were friendly and attentive.
Food was great but service was appalling from start to finish. Unfriendly bar and waiting staff. Very un attentive. Table not even set properly, toilets were dirty too.
Let's just say, a group of 6, a birthday celebration, we left the place underwhelmed with the lack of attentive service, the raw tough, not rare beef, and the rest of the food was mediocre.
Great place with some amazing views over Rutland Water. The food was excellent, especially the chilli beef. We cannot wait to go again in the summer so we can sit outside.
Great food, nice atmosphere and lovely views. The forgetful and unattentive service lets it down. While we were there 7 tables had paid and left, their tables were still not fully cleared when we left over an hour after some of them.
The food and environment was very good, which was reflected in a very competitive price. The service was slow but attentive when given. The only truly negative point was the lack of vegetarian options on the menu.
Terrible service. Had to wait 20 minutes for someone to take an order. The lady who served us was miserable and made us feel like she was doing us a favour. Average food. We were there 2 hours and only got to eat 1 course. Our 4 year old git rather tired.
