Latest of many visits, this time for Sunday lunch. As usual, very friendly service, a good selection of food served well and excellent value for money. Looking forward to our next visit 1

Very good food, very busy but it was Sunday lunchtime! The staff are always very pleasant and the restaurant pleasant but sometimes a bit crowded.

Fantastic all round. Excellent service - they really know how to discretely get through every course with absolute top level service. Food is always outstanding. Real home cooked food but better!

Consistently high quality of food and great service. Sunday roast is especially good, not forgetting their divine crumble and custard and can recommend the amazing sharing assiette of tasting puds!!

Lunch at the Fox and Hounds on Friday was really very, very good! The 3 of us had different dishes, each cooked to the F & H's usual high standard. My husband had the Steak and Ale Pie which came with 'proper' chips and mushy peas. Our guest had gluten- and dairy-free fish, chips and mushy peas and I had the sea bass with a lovely salad. 3 very satisfied customers! The restaurant was pleasantly full, the service was efficient and our food came together and piping hot! The Fox and Hounds never lets us down.

Lovely Christmas meal with a huge choice from the festive menu. All the food was served on time and beautifully presented with very friendly and efficient staff.

Lovely food as always. Very cosy Christmas atmosphere with friendly staff and great service. Early bird menu is perfect especially as it offers a smaller portion option which is perfect for the smaller appetite.

Family meal out, great night as always. The menu had something for everyone. Good Service and the early bird menu is great value for money.

Delicious food , reasonably priced, served by attentive friendly staff, who are knowledgeable about the dishes on offer. Will certainly eat there again and will recommend the Fox and Hounds to friends.

Without doubt one of the best restaurants to visit in the North of England and perhaps anywhere Excellent and friendly service and quality menu to match.

We came here some years ago and had a pretty good meal. Not this time I'm afraid. Cold, greasy black pudding starter. (They didn't charge me for this). I asked waitress if I would need additional vegetables with my mains. Answer - "I don't know". (Not exactly helpful). Mains said it came with "caramelised shallots and peppers" - which meant one half of a shallot and one slice of red pepper. 14 diners crammed in a small space when there was another dining area they could have opened up. Will think twice about coming again.

As always fantastic food. Great service and superb value for money. All 4 of us had the Sunday lunch deal which is a total bargain. 2 courses £15. Will be back very soon

Some seriously good cooking going on here. A starter of crab soup was amazing - intense flavours with excellent balance. A lamb rump actually could not have been better. The surroundings are unpretentious and comfortable and the service was friendly and flawless.

Went early evening very nice food,staff were very friendly service was good,had meerkats 2 for 1 meals app so the bill was really reasonably. Would recommend to anyone.

We enjoyed an excellent sunday lunch here this week. The food was delicious and the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend the rare roast beef!

My food as always was perfect we had mussels and they came in a beautiful bowl served with warm bread, the shepherds pie was perfect ✅

The Fox and Hounds never dissapoints. Our visit on Saturday 22 September 2018 provided a good choice of tasty food with excellent service. Seven of us including a three year old visited, all went home happy with our visit.

Excellent service from a team suffering Due to a large, awkward, loud, disruptive group of diners who were making their life hell! The food and drink were excellent ad we will definitely be returning in the near future. If the team are reading this, then “Hat’s off to you”.
