Only problem with otherwise excellent evening was shortage of staff. However this made up for extreme devotion and attention by those staff who were on duty.

Everything was perfect. A very warm welcome. The restaurant is very attractive. We had the set menu at £15 for 2 courses. The helpings were very generous. My sea bass was excellent (two fillets, often you get one with the set menu) My friend had the beef daube and was similarly impressed, the meat just melted. A lovely cheese board and coffee finished the meal. A little brownie to accompany the coffee. All in all a marvellous experience and one I am hoping to repeat very soon.

Early bird is still great value though the choice is sometimes a little limited if one or two dishes are unavailable. Great, casual atmosphere and friendly service. Fab deserts !!

We booked on a Saturday to go on a Sunday evening and were really impressed that we got a call from the restaurant to ask which meets we would like saving so they didn't run out. I thought this was excellent. We were served great food by the really friendly owners and will definitely be going again

Good sized portions and value for money two course Sunday lunch. The starters were excellent but the Sunday roasts were let down a little by the roast potatoes that were a bit on the hard side and luke warm parsnips. Sugar snaps, broccoli and carrots were excellent.

My wife and I really enjoyed our first visit to the Fox & Hounds. Welcoming staff and good service in a relaxed atmosphere. We ordered from the early bird menu, with duck pancakes and Portobello mushrooms followed by slow cooked pork shoulder and the daube of beef, with a serving of seasonal vegetables to share. We found all dishes to be very nicely cooked and presented and full of flavour. The Chilean red we chose was very nice too. The desserts looked great, but were a bridge too far on this occasion! All in all a very enjoyable meal at a great price. We will be back soon. Thank you. Dave and Jules

Excellent roast beef, perfectly cooked. Very good value for money. Online booking efficient. Service friendly. Dining atmosphere was relaxed but, despite several roving children, relatively peaceful.

Fantastic food and service! The Fox and Hounds has a very accommodating staff who go out of their way to meet your needs and specific food requests if they are able. The owner was kind enough to contact me before I arrived to let me know that, since it had been busier than expected, they had run out of certain items on the Sunday lunch menu. We decided to go ahead with our reservation and there was still plenty of items to choose from. We had a very pleasant evening.

Always good service and food, the staff are very friendly without being too familiar and the seating is relaxed and airy. Still miss old Mr Fox in the foyer though!

A menu and specials board which covered most tastes and dietary requirements. Good food well presented and generally well service. We did not feel rushed and were able to enjoy the whole meal fully.

We met with friends from across the Pennines for our annual "catch up". The reception was warm, Premises spacious and comfortable & food excellent. My wife & had the Daub of Beef as a main & it was mouth-wateringly tender. We waited a while for our food but assumed it was cooked to order as everything looked and tasted freshly prepared. Anyway, we were there for a long "catch up" so it was not a problem. Service was friendly, polite & helpful, nothing was too much trouble and there was no pressure to leave after we had finished our meal.

Good traditional pub food combined with friendly service. I would suggest watching out for the specials board - some great choices available on top of the main menu.

Lovely traditional pub, we had a family meal here and one of the party was vegetarian. Sometimes this is a problem but they did a starter for the main course of portobello mushrooms with pepper and mozzarella which went down very well. Everybody had a lovely meal

Good food, good value, friendly helpful staff. There is an early bird menu for even better value. What they call small portions are not small at all.

On arrival ordered 2 drinks which took an age to arrive. Everything else was good. The food was really nice and well cooked. The pudding was superb (an asiette of 4 desserts). All in all an enjoyable fathers day lunch.

Food was good - not great but ‘good’. They lost our main course order which resulted in 45 minute wait between starters and the mains eventually arriving. Also forgot one of the drinks we ordered at the start so delivered 3 drinks and had to ask after a further 5 mins for the other one!

The Fox & Hounds is a lovely mix of village pub atmosphere but with the presentations and quality of the food, matched to any high end restaurant. Value & quality makes the visit a must!
