Excellent service. We had the early bird meal - excellent value and quality was very good. Nice touch to have the home made bread and oil on arrival. Will go again.

I have eaten here on several occasions and the food and service has been generally good. That was not the case last Friday when myself and 3 guests had a rather bad experience, Starters were OK but main courses were dreadful with the special of the day - veal liver, being particularly bad - inedible in fact. Service was - let's say - eccentric!

Normally a really good experience and the food was great as normal. Tonight however we felt a bit rushed! Finally we were told our table was needed so we left. They did seem more busy than normal.... Probably because of the Yorkshire Show but it might have been better to tip us the wink as we sat down. A bit embarrassing being asked to leave.

We were served very good food at reasonable prices, friendly and efficient service, all of this in a restaurant/pub with an atmosphere that we like - thoroughly recommend

I had a meal here a week ago which I could not fault - however, on this return visit I was disappointed (not sure if a different chef was on). Tempura prawn starter disappointing as batter was soggy and not crisp, steak main course was decidedly average and rhubarb and ginger crumble - very stodgy (broken ginger biscuits in the crumble) and "vanilla custard" had no sign of any vanilla in it. In hindsight I probably should have said something but always embarrassing when with friends. I will go back though as I am hoping this was a "blip" - normally very good value, service and food. Shame!

Excellent food. After a slightly slow start because they were so busy, service was efficient and friendly - and they were busy because of the Yorkshire Show which lent the place an extra buzz. A really good evening.

Early Bird menu, excellent food, well presented & very good value. The menu has good variety too. It was also encouraging to see this local pub restaurant full so early on a Saturday evening. Hopefully, a good sign that the Fox & Hounds will have continued success.

We last visited 12 months ago when our experience was not so good, however with knowledge that there had been many changes we went as we do like the ambience of the place. Pleasantly surprised by the attentive staff and price / quality of food, all round much improved.

Fantastic. Wouldn't normally have three courses but since the starter and main were so delicious I couldn't resist trying the crumble for desert. Only small issue was that the main vegetarian dish (vegetable Wellington) had run out, but they did have an alternative. Will definitely be visiting again. Thanks!

Very disappointed with the food as it has always been very good. Tonight my fish was ok but what were described as chips were in fact wedges which tasted as if they had been reheated. I also ate there for lunch this week and the pork dish was terrible. Dried up and again had been reheated. Sorry but we won't be back

Easy booking system on line, friendly staff, great food. What more needs to be said. Find out for yourself, it's worth it. Best Gasto Pub in the area. Early-bird menu at a tenner is very good value and you get good quality food with plenty to eat.

We went for a family Sunday lunch. The food was excellent. In particular we enjoyed the black pudding starter, Roast beef main course and sticky toffee pudding. Drinks service was a little slow but it was busy.

Ambience relaxed, warm comfortable. Maggie looked after us well as always. Our steaks were excellent, and the spicy rhubarb crumble a dream dessert. Thank you to Alan, Gareth and Pam for maintaining their usual high standards.

The service was diabolical. We weren't acknowledged on arrival waitied 30 minutes at the table before being served. The owner knocked off the cost of 2 tonics we were in the restaurant one hour 40 minutes to each one course. Spoilt the whole evening. This is the second time recently we have been and the service is far too slow. Won't be returning for a long time sorry to have to post the comments. No idea in customer care

Very good value for a quality Sunday lunch. Lovely rare beef (you have to say if you want it medium or well done). Pork equally as good with lovely crackling and nice chunky apple sauce. Welcome rushed but then efficient and friendly. Will return!

Went on Bank Holiday Monday for lunch.Had to let the waitress know we were ready to order & had to order our drinks at the bar,we weren't asked. We had our bread before starters arrived but 2 other couples didn't get bread, perhaps that is only offered if you are having a starter? Starters & Mains came out in reasonable time but the couple (with a baby) had to ask where their meal was as an hour had passed.Staff didn't know what came with the "Pie of the day" nor what the crumble was. Empty glasses were removed from table but we weren't offered any more drinks. Little things, that weren't upto the normal standard, maybe it was because Maggie wasn't working? Food good. We are regulars so we were quite disappointed with the service. Howard & Karen Marsden & Phil Rogers

Love the quality of food, which is often overlooked in mass produced Sunday lunch menus, in a splendid convivial yet comfortable surrounding... and it is walking distance :-)

We ate from the early bird menu which offers two smaller portions for £10. The food was delicious and smaller portions were sufficient, although desserts were available at an extra charge. The restaurant wasn't full but we felt as though the staff were rushing us and they seemed a bit pushy at times.

Very disappointing after reading previous reviews. Lamb was described as "pink" but arrived grey and just like school dinners, vegetables were as hard as nails, only one and a half roast potatoes each and a thimble full of mashed potatoes, no extra gravy. No hand pulled local beers. The brownie pudding was tiny. No senior member of staff bothered to ask us if we had enjoyed the meal. Perhaps the main chef was not on duty, something was wrong today and they need to look at their standards.

The staff at the Fox and Hounds are genuinely friendly and accommodating. When we asked to move from the table near the door to one closer to the bar, they were very obliging. I like to try different things on the menu and I've enjoyed my meal each time I've gone. Definite recommendation!

Our very first visit to the Fox & Hounds after hearing great reviews, arrived 15 minutes before our reservation time, shown straight to our table & had complimentary bread and oil arrived after ordering our drinks. nice touch. Food was excellent hot & the service was brilliant, & you wasn't rushed after you had finished your meal. Only thing that let it down was the poor selection of non alcoholic drinks.
