In case you’re not already familiar with Blackhouse, it’s a small family of steak restaurants with plenty of character. Manchester is Blackhouse’s home – two of the five restaurants are here – and The Grill on the Alley on Ridgefield, right on the edge of Spinningfields and just off Deansgate, is thought of as the old favourite in the family. It’s a very stylish spot but without even a drop of pretence where you can grab a booth with a bottle of red and watch the kitchen do its thing, or listen to the piano and enjoy an hour or so away from the Manchester bustle.
When it comes to beef at The Grill on the Alley Manchester, the team select from butchers only in countries that are famous for producing world-class beef. All cuts are minimum 28-day aged and are left to breathe for at least 24 hours to ensure the highest quality possible. There’s English sirloin, Irish fillet, Argentinian ribeye and Australian rump to choose from, as well as indulgent sharing cuts and other options that are less beefy: fresh seafood, belly pork, roast chicken, vegetarian options and, of course, a roast on Sunday. If you haven’t done so already, get involved with The Grill on the Alley Manchester as soon as possible.
