Birthday lunch for elderly couple, great food and good atmosphere with friendly staff.
We hadn’t been under the new owners, the food is still fantastic, everyone both welcoming and helpful. Food was excellent and really good value.
Extremely good food. Good service. Great ambiance. Will go back!
First class as always...thank you to all the staff X👏🥰X
Lovely meal and well looked after as always. Restaurant had a great atmosphere and we both had a great time.
Great food and excellent service. Not a huge menu but we found enough choice
Great eve and food all round. We wish them luck.
Lovely place. The Sunday lunch here is very tasty, one of my absolute favourites, and the staff are very friendly and efficient.
Very good meal, especially liked the Steak Pie and Fish and Chips. Efficient service
Professional friendly efficient obliging delicious food compliments to the chef
Lovely food at a quiet time of day with friendly staff
Excellent little "out of the way" pub/restaurant. The service was quick, with little waiting time ( the waitress very knowledgeable ), the food delicious... ( I had the chicken skewers, and the salad that came with it, was out of this world, the dressing was mouthwatering.. I,d have been happy with just a plate of that). The overall ambiance of the Malt Shovel was just lovely, a quaint, olde worlde little place, that was just endearing. Fabulous.
Excellent evening at the Malt Shovel yesterday as always. Excellent service and always made to feel so welcome. Great food and good selection throughout the menu. Great atmosphere.
As always, very good. Took newbies with us that will return.
Beautiful traditional pub and smashing food. Will definitely be back!
Food good, very slow service, atmosphere nil, lady server very abrupt.
Prompt, friendly and efficient service, freshly cooked food, first class.
Lovely food in a nice old pub. The chef knows how to prepare and cook food well.
Third visit to the Malt Shovel and each time the food is excellent and service friendly and attentive
Very pleasant and attentive staff. Just the right level of awareness. We will definitely return.
The food was very good our wine bill was more than the food bill though. Staff great, nothing a problem. No cheese on the dessert menu but they made a platter for two. always come back
Really enjoyed our visit to The Malt Shovel. We will be back
Great place, great ambience, great food. Owners have created a great dining experience and run the show with efficiency. I would revisit.
Meal was great, nice ambience, warm welcome. Helpful to be able to book online
Food was great, large portions size. We would have preferred a slightly larger table,we felt a little squashed.
Great food and great service in a great setting! The Sunday roast was perfect and we came away full and happy.
Lovely food and lovely waitress who was great with the kids
Great food and good customer service. Sunday lunch was really tasty
We absolutely loved our food, it was our first time at The Malt Shovel, Brearton, Harrogate, The starters deep fried brie, and crispy fried prawns, both cooked to perfection and presented perfectly. The mains Fish and Chips were just amazing! the puds Eaton mess and Ice cream just the job. We will return, looking forward to our next visit. Great food and lovely staff what a perfect experience.
Our first time here and we would definitely go back again. The food was really fab!
Delightful pub, excellent food and friendly service. We will definitely come back.
Always a pleasure to frequent The Malt Shovel. Food is excellent and the atmosphere the staff create is always warm and friendly.
We were given the al a carte menu and when I asked for the lunch time menu was told that the al a carte menu was the only one. I tried to explain to the waitress that I wanted the lunch menu, as was on the web site, she argued with me in front of the whole pub that there was no other menu. If we had been on our own I would have walked out disgusted, but we had an elderly guest with us. So
Fabulous Sunday lunch, delicious food, excellent service, very helpful efficient staff. Can't wait to return.
A fabulous meal with family, the food was delicious, we enjoyed starters, then steak and ale pie, sea bass, hake and amazing slow cooked belly pork, with delicious desserts to finish with. A wonderful time and a great team providing excellent service. Thank you for a lovely evening.
A lovely village pub, with great food and good service
