Had booked a table for 7pm but didn't sit down till 8pm and didn't eat till nearly 9pm. Food was lovely but far too late for most of us to eat.

Terrible first visit. I booked the day before to go for lunch at half 1. We arrived 5 mins before the booking and they had given our table away. We waited 40 kins and they still couldn't give us an estimate of how long it would be. We ended up leaving and it was no easy feat finding somewhere else to go on a Sunday.. I told them I was frustrated for the wait times and wasted time even booking a slot if they are going to ignore it. I am local but my family was visiting and they driven an hour to come over my way. Won't be coming back

Delicious roast, although the red cabbage unexpectedly had really hot chillis in it too which was a bit of a shocker if not expected! (And not really matching a roast... a Thai red curry, yes, but not a roast...) Also there was no stuffing that day - pretty standard item on a roast! That aside, the food was very nice, service excellent as always, friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. Very much recommended (just read the menu carefully...).

This is the second time we have used this restaurant to meet up with friends, as we live a distance apart. It was equally good with a warm welcome, good food and all at a fair price. It's the perfect place to go if you are travelling along the M40. I would highly recommend it.

Busy Sunday which we expected but 55 minutes is a bit too long to wait for food. We ordered 2 roasts and when they arrived they were beautifully presented and looked amazing but sadly we're cold. They were returned to the kitchen to be microwaved and were OK then. A shame as it marred our experience

It was perfect, the food was 1st Class and was cooked perfectly.

The only downside is the tight car park which was made worse by cars and vans parked inconsiderately . The staff and food were great.

The pub is quite basic but the traditional pub food is fabulous, very tasty, unpretentious and good value. The beer was excellent too. The pie and chips was exceptional. Even the gravy was excellent.

The Malt Shovel always impresses with its cozy atmosphere, unique style (resident cockatoo) and wide selection of drinks. Each time we’ve visited there has been different choices on the menu and always the food is outstanding. Highly recommend. The staff our always friendly and the service is fantastic; staff recently went the extra mile to make a birthday meal a special occasion.

Had a lovely lunch. Food was fab and Becky looked after us very well. Overall very pleasant meal and service.
