The Sunday lunch menu was excellent only pity they had run out of one of starters. The surrounding is lovely and the service was excellent well worth a visit.

Had a a cheese soufflé starter followed by fish and chips .The starter was more flaccid than pert however the fish tasted really fresh and the tartare sauce with mushy peas enhanced it nicely .For six diners the bill was £160 and this included two bottles of wine and a few beers and bacardis .More than reasonable price in a great pub environment .Great experience look forward to dining there again .

The fact I keep going back here is proof of how much I love. Whenever we have a special occasion, birthdays etc the munro is top of our list. Friendly staff, good atmosphere and excellent food. What more can you ask for.

Lovely meal as usual with friendly staff. The fish was cooked perfectly with a seafood risotto and the rack of lamb was perfect. We have been here many times and have never been disappointed.

All the good stuff first. Setting. Service. Menu. Ambience. Our waitress hit the spot. She was friendly, efficient and always knew when to disappear and reappear. The scallops were few but delicious. The accompanying pea brûlée and raisins were a bonus. The hake was okay but the accompanying veg and chorizo added a blast of taste to that main course. The goat cheese was a very good starter. The partridge was tasty, too. There was room for one sticky toffee pudding. We shared it and, again, it was spot on. Nice ice cream on top. Putting everything together, it was a fine meal wel served.

Went with friends for a catch up. Had the house white wine which was lovely, and at less than £5 for a 175ml glass I wasn't expecting anything amazing, but was pleasantly surprised! I had the Fish Sharing Platter as my main, which was lovely and super tasty. There was a lovely relaxed atmosphere. I would definitely go here again.

Booked the Monro for a special family get together after online research, but was disappointed if I'm honest. Our table felt like an extra one fitted in by the kitchen door, so our surroundings did not feel very grand, and it was really noisy, and I couldn't really hear much that my son was saying opposite me. 3 of us had starters which were just average. 2 of us had the fillet steak main, which I have to say was lovely and everything I had hoped for as I don't order it very often. The lamb was enjoyed by the other 2, but it was very pink and very 'nouvelle' on the plate so not for someone expecting a huge lamb dinner. 3 of us had puddings, 2 sticky toffee, which again was very average, not as nice as the cartmel ones in foil trays that I sometimes buy. Overall sorry to say, we were disappointed, as it was an expensive meal for us £146 for 4, (including drinks, but only 1 glass of wine, 2 people on cokes only!) and I have had much better value delicious food elsewhere. I won't be going back. Sorry to be negative but this was our honest experience.

Delicious food and plenty of it. 2 course Sunday lunch for £16.50 loads of beef and freshly roasted vegetables. We were seated as soon as we arrived (booked for 3.30 got there 10 mins early). Would recommend that you book 'cos it was very busy but this didn't detract from the excellent service that we received. A1 all round

Excellent bar/restaurant. Great food and very friendly attentive staff. If visiting at lunch time try the mini menu, good selection on offer and save money. Highly recommended.

Good food using local produce but the excellent cottage pie with the sweet potato topping as a side dish with the duck truly deserves to be a main all on its own!

The Monro is an excellent gastro pub. We went for Sunday lunch. Doesn't try to do too much so 6 starters and 6 mains - 3 of which were variations on a roast. Good veggie options as well - at least two of the starters and I think two mains(?). Friendly but not intrusive staff. Nice wine by glass - we had a sauvignon blanc and a pinot grigio.

Excellent place. Nothing too much trouble. Food severed was first class. And was a real ale pub. And the pudding was to die for. And overall a pub/ restaurant to visit.

The setting was pleasant and the service was good, with a longish wait for the second round of drinks. The reviews I had read were very positive regarding the food quality but I found the Roast not up to standard. I had the veggie option as did my husband and the nut roast was beautiful but the vegetables were not good. Roast potatoes were very hard and dry and the parsnips were tough. I will visit again but not for the Sunday menu. Thank you for your time and for this opportunity to feedback.

We tried to take advantage of a free starter offer but restaurant reneged on the deal. Embarrassing and unnecessary. Mains weren't ready together, fish wasn't cooked properly, service was patchy and the restaurant overall wasn't good value for money. Very disappointing as this was our favourite restaurant but we will not be returning.

Had to send uncooked fish back (chef accepted the assessment) and when given replacement it was still not cooked and couldn't be eaten. As a result, one of our party went without food. No gesture of goodwill was offered to alleviate our dissatisfaction. What a shame - we won't be going back.

Absolutely delicious! The service was excellent, served by Ellie. We had been there the week before so had the 3 course mini lunch again! My husband and I had the pork and fish and chips. Had the tomato soup and the salmon for starters and finally the Sticky Toffee pudding and the lemon posset! All nicely presented and right amount, couldn't eat any dinner in the evening! Lovely roaring hot fire too as it was a rainy cold day! Will definitely come again as the mini lunch 3 course meal was well worth it for £15.95! 👍👏👏👏
