Pleasant evening and staff and good prices but the open fire was very smoky and the food was mediocre. Doubtless choosing to go on a Sunday evening was a contributor as the menu is very limited and seems possibly cooked to different standards than at other meals. Well done roasts and basic vegetables. Adequate but no more.

Excellent food and drink in a warm and friendly atmosphere with helpful staff and a lovely setting. Doesn't look much from the outside, but inside it is beautiful and spacious. Highly recommended.

Lovely meal, excellent service, nice atmosphere. Would definitely go again. Salmon starter was superb, really fresh and tasty. I had steak which was cooked medium/rare as I like if and the chips were the nicest I've had for a long time. Hubby's haddock looked delicious.

Staff very friendly. Ambience friendly. Meal very good and well proportioned apart from a rather small raspberry Eton mess. Vegetables cooked perfectly and given the choice of how pink we wanted our meat cooked. Only complaints were small but easy enough to have been corrected by staff, flowers on tables were dead and the toilets were in need of cleaning. Will certainly go again for there excellent Sunday roast.

A excellent place to eat, very popular especially as it was grand national weekend in Liverpool, there's a small wait for your food but that's fine as you know the food is freshly cooked so piping hot we both had duck nicely presented and very tasty indeed.

My experience at the munro was simply terrible. Our table was booked for 2.30 and we received our starters at 4:00pm. After complaining which I have never had to do before in a restaurant, we were offered a glass of wine only, which took 30 minutes to receive. I was told the soup of the day was carrot and coriander. When it arrived late it was parsnip soup! The menu described the main as turkey leg, when it arrived it was a slice of dark turkey meat! Bland and tasteless. At the end of the meal when I refused to pay the full bill, I was told we hadn't waited long at all for the starter! Not only was the food and service appalling management didn't want to take responsibility for it! The staff were young and inexperienced and didn't know how to deal with customers. After some debate they discounted the bill a pultry 15%. Needless to say I will not be returning.

After visiting recently and having a fantastic meal we rebooked to treat our aunt and uncle. It was a massive dussspintment, my lamb was overcooked and my vegetables were almost cold. Really dissapointed and would have sent food back had we not had company as didn't want to make a fuss. The service was also poor. Will not be booking again unfortunately.

Sunday lunch not as generous as expected for the price. The roast pork for example was served with unidentifiable pieces of crackling. Service was good however and hopefully the A la carte menu is better.

Excellent food. First class friendly service without being in any way intrusive. Acceptably varied & priced wine list. Staff had the common sense to kindly let us know that they were about to deal with a party of 41 in the upstairs room so suggested that we might care to order 15 minutes earlier than the 8 p.m. time we were booked. Good initiative ensured that our evening ran like clockwork.

Staff great, attentive but not in your face. Food really nice, we all got different versions of the Roast dinner, mine was Beef which was really tasty. 1 person didn't get a Roast and chose the Hake which he wasn't mad on but that was personal choice and nothing to do with the food itself. Had a very nice afternoon, thanks very much

Food was fantastic but the menu was very limited considering as a table of 4 we spent £106. As I'm not a fan of fish or steak I was limited personally to the mac and cheese although very tasty my hand was forced.

I loved the meal as a whole. The dessert and the main meal were absolutely gorgeous. I wasn't overly fussed on the soup as my starter but I would just try something different next time. I would recommend the Sunday lunch to anyone it's fab.

Overall a nice meal, food slightly cold but enjoyable. The restaurant was very cold to sit almost all guests had their coats on, staffs response to this was that it was a listed building so it takes a while to heat up, in which case heating should be switched on earlier or constantly left at a low heat.
