Service is not brilliant for a restaurant that thinks it’s top notch. Soup arrived which was lukewarm and it was an afterthought for the spoons to then arrive and when they did they were placed on the wrong side and by the waitress reaching over from side to the other. Not her fault at all but I suspect a lack of attention to detail in training. Half way through my wife found a hair in her soup. One bowl of soup removed and not replaced but the waitress did add it would be deducted from the bill. Manager did explain that chef said it wasn’t a hair but a piece of herb. Mains arrived and the taste was fine but the arrival of a steak knife was again an afterthought. Bill arrived but two bowls of soup was on it however in fairness at the managers discretion both were removed from the bill. All in all not great, overpriced as well. Over £7 for a regular bottle of cider!

The wait staff appeared to be very inexperienced. Management might also want to try to motivate them into providing a better customer experience.

This was the best meal I ate on my trip to Scotland! The cocktail and salmon were delicious, and the desserts were decadent and wonderful. Would absolutely recommend.

Had a lovely meal at the mustard seed. When we asked to move tables the staff were happy to accommodate and came over to check us and let us know how long it would be. Cannot fault the staff, so attentive and professional but also friendly. The food and drinks were amazing and atmosphere lovely and chilled.

I live locally and have brought a couple of friends to the Mustard Seed when they have visited from down south. They have all enjoyed their meals but I am vegetarian. This selection is simply not on par with the rest of the menu and it has been pasta or risotto each time I have been. They have seemed a token offer just to cater for this minority.

Very good service and waiter girl blonde and black girl very friendly and whole staff very friendly and warm welcoming be back soon again. Lovely amazing meal.

Service, food and drink were all excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for all the staff. I was catching up with a friend and there was no rush for us to leave.

Had the early evening menu at the fixed price of 2 courses for £19.95. Wow, what value for money - the food quality was excellent and the portion size normal. The restaurant was full with a good atmosphere and the service was also excellent. Wine very good and reasonably priced. Overall, cannot recommend the Mustard Seed highly enough.

The food we received was excellent and faultless, and would only have been improved by additional vegetables, which were available as an extra but that I obviously needed a prompt to order! Looking forward to a future visit.

One of the best overall meals I’ve ever had. We needed gluten free since my wife has celiac disease, and she had tons of options. Thank you! She had the roast duck. I had the venison, and our 5 year old daughter had noodles with butter, then a brownie and ice cream. I had the sticky toffee pudding. Thank you so much for making a lasting memory for us!

Brilliant city centre restaurant. Alina, our host, looked after us really well as we had told them in advance it was my wife’s birthday. Chose from 2 course lunch menu and all the food was superbly cooked and presented. Fine selection of wines by the glass at reasonable price. Would thoroughly recommend this restaurant, but suggest you book to avoid disappointment.

Our waitress and all staff were top-notch. The food was excellent. The view of the river and ambiance all made the experience an A plus dining experience.

Our meal was 30 mins before it arrived and the plates were cold and the food just warm. I was out with friends and didn't like to complain. The portions were quite small (two small slices of duck, less that one small sprig of broccoli). This was my third visit and unlike previous occasions where I have eaten from the early evening menu (which was extremely good and value for money) I felt totally disappointed and embarrassed because I had suggested to my party that we go there because the Mustard Seed is so good.
