The Old Bill is unbeatable if you’re looking for an intimate dinner venue in Oldham’s town centre – it oozes old-world charm, and it has a cluster of very well-stocked wine racks with a vintage to suit any occasion. What really makes this a sure-fire venue, though, is its quality Italian cuisine, which ers on the side of classical with fantastic results. You know that everything you get dished up here on Greaves Street is done in the proper style (how nonna would’ve done it, just a bit fancier), from juicy melon and prawns to half a leg of lamb in mint and redcurrant demi-glace sauce, port wine and blue-cheese based filletini di manzo fillet steak to The Old Bill’s famous torta fritta garlic bread – a 60-year-old recipe served with Papa’s special tomato ragu: light, and irresistible. The Old Bill does a great early-bird and pre-theatre menu, too, or you can line up a meal along with one of their great events like live jazz.
This was a rare treat for us and could not have enjoyed it more. The staff are friendly and very helpful, the food was divine and we were not waiting long for anything. All in all a fantastic visit again. i would highly recommend The Old Bill.
I was disappointed that we got served partially with our food by a child then to be told an eight year old child cooked it. I get it is a family business but if you are paying restaurant prices you should get restaurant service. Won't be going again until they have a chef cooking our food
Food excellent as always, staff very friendly even though it was busy
