Gorgeous Food, Great service, easy to book a table online, dogs are welcome and get water and a treat, staff appear to be happy and this gives a lovely atmosphere in this cosy pub
Good food bubbly staff warm atmosphere we were a group of eight having celebrations for my mum's 69 (96) birthday great sense of humour good evening had by all.
Pub has been refurbished and looked great. The Food was excellent along with the service. Staff very attentive. Will definitely visit again to try their Sunday carvery
Good food, well priced and the service is good and friendly too. There is a good pub atmosphere in the bar on a Friday night.
Lovely restaurant. Love the refurb. Great food. Staff are very nice. Carvery in a better location in the restaurant which stops the queue blocking others getting past
Tried the Old Thatch again for the first time since new management. Great food (Sunday carvery) and service today. Good choice of wine. Cheesecake the best ever!!
Excellent food and service - the pub has been recently taken over and been sympathetically refurbished. Clearly a hit, as the place was pretty busy at 7.00 pm on Friday, with more customers arriving as we dined. We will definitely return.
Really pleasantly surprised by the standard of food and customer service at the Thatch. Didn't really have any expectations other than hoping for some decent pub food but the experience exceeded this. The staff, whose names I'm sorry I didn't note - but it was a man maybe in his 30s and a younger waitress were really attentive and friendly people. The food was the best pub food we've had in a long time, including the vegan Wellington and crumble. Thank you for such a warm experience, will definitely be coming back. (On the subject of being warm, I would just say that the dining area where we were sat was quite cold and other guests appeared pretty layered up too so maybe notch the heating up a bit for a perfect experience) :)
Staff very friendly, and food good, but atmosphere greatly lacking! No background music, no candles on tables and NO HEATING! I sat with my coat on all the while and we didn’t stay for dessert because I couldn’t wait to get home! 😏
From the moment I entered the building until I left, the staff were welcoming, polite and professional. We booked for 6 however 3 other friends joined us and the staff quickly accommodated them. We had light bites/lunch for 9 and all enjoyed our food. We be booking again and also thought the menu looked as if it deserved an evening meal to try. Thanks and see you again soon
The staff and landlord werthe friendliest people. The food wad amazing. We had the carvery which was out of this world. We will be back.
we Had fantastic service from some very friendly staff members, food was delicious and arrived promptly ( it’s nice to see children being served first too). Will highly recommend to others.
Lovely staff, very helpful and polite. Good food, although a bit of a wait for both courses on a fairly quiet night. Would still recommend.
.Went there on Boxing Day.Really great food and service. Great selection on the menu and the staff were very accommodating for a request of a change of potatoes for my 92 year old mother in law Cosy and friendly atmosphere. Definitely go again 👍🏼
First visit under new management. Warm, friendly service, comfortable ambience, food good - only slight negative being jacket potato could have been hotter but good nonetheless. Will return. 😊
excellent food very attentive serving staff ,ambience good 2 cod chips + vegetarian option all expertly cooked very well prepared . ist course very filling so only room for a shared ginger cake.
Great lunch yet again, also catered for a vegan . Lovely atmosphere always welcoming. Hope to make the new years eve party, looks like a fun night
Great service and excellent food and recommend it to everyone as it is a genuine pub . The new team are really making a big effort
the pork was a bit too fatty but tasty, staff very helpful and the service was good overall we had a good evening and will return
Great meal - Pie of the day was excellent - chicken and leek - lots of gravy too. Attentive and polite staff and live music too.
We had a great time yesterday. We were a party of 9 and were made very welcome. The menu was extensive and the hardest decision was what choose. Everyone had a lovely meal, the service was very good especially as they were very busy. It is a lovely pub and felt very festive. The only disappointment is that we are not local, but will certainly visit again if in the area.
Very please that the Old Thatch has reopened and in style too! The new occupants have hit the ground running. Good and varied menu, which caters for restricted diets. My aunt was offered an alternative to the potatoes on her dish and I was made to feel that being GF is not at a problem there. I found 4 GF desserts which is quite something after going in other establishments with lengthy dessert menus to be told I can have ice cream. Oh really!?! Not here. I was spoilt for choice and have to go back at least 3 times to sample them all. There are also good options for vegans, including coconut milk ice-cream. I'm going back to try that. The service was excellent and speedy considering how busy they became by the time we'd ordered. I found our waiting staff to be attentive without being obtrusive and friendly too. The small nitpicking points: —menu was printed on plain paper and getting slightly scruffy— I do think that is a work in progress and I'm confident they will make better ones later. —it's an old building and some of the windows are draughty. My parents, who are elderly, needed to move around the table when the food arrived. Just be aware of where you sit if you suffer in a draught. —We were sat at a table for 6, when there were only 6 of us which made it a little difficult to chat when it got louder. All in all I'd highly recommend going to the Old Thatch. Do book ahead in case it gets busy. It is rightly becoming a popular venue again.
The staff were very good moving us from a cold area to a warm one despite them being crowded but we were disappointed in the carvery, The meat was excellent but the veg selection was poor. The Yorkshire pud was burnt, the parsnips were under cooked and the mashed swede was more lumps than mash. We are still debating whether the vegetable in the sauce was leek or cabbage, it was so tasteless.
Food was really good and very well presented. Our waitress Yasmin (?) was sweet and helpful, a credit to the place. Would recommend for a relaxed evening. Slight downside it was a cold evening, would have been nice if it had been warmer in The Old Thatch.
Second visit and just as good as my first. Welcoming enthusiastic staff, unique menu with plenty of choice at all levels, prompt service and delicious home cooked food . What more could one ask. Now one of our favourite haunts
A good selection of meals on the Sunday menu. Looks to be a case of a revised menu every day - which is refreshing. Our meals were great. Staff could be a little more attentive.
Were slightly disappointed we missed the Sunday Roast, but the choices we made from the menu were delicious, staff friendly nice atmosphere wii definitely return
