Staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was great, the portions were large and came quite quickly. We had mainly sunday roasts. The meats were good, could maybe have been a little more tender, but still good and tasty. Extras of everything available for a small charge. The crumble was massive at pudding, we couldn't finish it. Quirky little place spread over different rooms, the floor is very sloping in places , so tables are a little uneven. All in all we all really enjoyed the visit and the food.

We went as foursome with friends and loved it. I’ve been going there for over 30 years when it used to be called Christie’s and have loved it since then. The food is very good and freshly cooked. The staff were welcoming and attentive - the wine was good - the character of the rooms are great! What more do you want !

All I can say is chaotic. The lady took our drinks order and came back without one of the drinks there was only 2 of us by the way. We ordered a starter and mains. The mains came out they had totally forgotten the starter. The food was very average nothing special. I wouldn’t recommend. We also witnessed a family of 4 order food and then 10 minutes later had to reorder their food.

Lamb Henry and Steak and Ale pie were both delicious.

Food was amazing as usual. We've been quite a few times. Always good. One problem from this visit was we didn't feel welcome from the 2 staff members.

Obviously a popular place. Slightly disappointed with our table - we were seated next to the bar near an entrance so there was constantly people coming and going in a fairly tight space so felt a bit cramped and therefore not a particularly relaxing experience. Plus our table was on a wobbly part of the floor so kept moving although I accept it is a very old historic building but the constant traffic meant it wobbled constantly. The food was good and reasonably priced and service was fine. All in all, a pleasant experience.

We had a fabulous night, lovely food and wine, the service was superb and huge thanks to Jaqueline who really made the night for us, she had put balloons and banner out for my husbands birthday, was so friendly, knowledgeable about all the dishes on the menu. Fabulous all round

Food was ok. The fish and chips came with a "pretend" sheet of newspaper on the plate with the food on top. It served no purpose whatsoever. It absorbed the vinegar and ripped while cutting food. We appreciate it is a very old building but desperately in need of a coat of paint

Friendly waitress. Food was ok, the pigs in blankets needed to be cooked/crisped up more, the steak pie was tasty and tender but the vegetables were spoiled with some sort of aniseed taste. Quite cold in the restaurant, no heating on.
