I went to The Rising Sun at Milland to meet up with old friends for a few beers and a bite to eat. The beer was good, but the food was exceptionally good! The steak - from Morgan's Butchers in Petersfield, I believe, was mouth-watering! Nice atmosphere - a bit loud for my taste, but that didn't spoil our evening. Would definitely go again, and would recommend the pub to anyone wanting good food & drink in a relaxed setting.

Good food, in a busy pub on a mid-week evening - which tells its own story. We’ve been many times before and will return. Good service, friendly staff. The only tiny niggle is the noise level in the dining area we were seated in. It can be quite noisy and echoes. Some soft furnishings would mitigate this.

We were visiting from London. Delicious food. Roast for kids was particularly Good value. Will visit again if ever passing through. Thank you

Staff were friendly & accommodating. Two people or even 4 can be drowned out by bigger groups.

On an extremely busy Mother's Day lunchtime, with all the tables showing listings for several sittings, the staff were efficient, cheerful and unfailingly courteous. Our lateish booking for 2pm could have meant overcooked meat and soggy vegetables, but it was all excellent, well presented and hot. They do good puddings too. The only slight disappointment was the vegan biscoff cheesecake: as a biscoff, cheesecake-loving carnivore I thought it worth trying but I found it too sweet and the texture rather claggy. However, were I a vegan I'd probably have loved it and appreciated having a pud on the menu that I could enjoy. We're big fans of the Rising Sun: buzzy atmosphere, friendly staff and customers, a mix of locals and visitors, and none of the cliqueishness that you so often find in country pubs.

Had a fab meal with my family and my Mum, who had mobility and other issues due to onsetting dementia. She thoroughly enjoyed herself, which was lovely to see. The staff were so helpful and really friendly. The food was delicious and we will definitely be back!

The Rising Sun in Milland serves up another great Sunday Lunch

On arrival the pub was very busy and difficult to find any staff to show us to our table. No menus available, so we had to wait for a while before we were given them. Slow service but that came as no surprise as it was so busy. Food was good and waiting staff were friendly. However, my friend didn't get her glass of red wine and although it was considerably quieter, we had to ask for the bill and then after some time, we had to ask for the card machine. Staff were busy cleaning tables and not attending to customers. A bit concerned that the automatic addition of service charge to the bill is causing a decrease in good service - why bother giving good service if you will get a tip anyway? Not many people ask for it to be removed even when they have good reason too.

Wonderful welcome, very good food - and hot! Quite noisy, but a sign of a popular pub. We sat near an outside door (table 14) which was a little annoying as people were coming and going quite a bit. We shall, however, be back!

Four of us had mains plus two desserts, 7pm booking and we all commented how tasty the food was, service was very attentive and prompt. Hadn’t eaten here in a while but now will certainly be returning soon. Thank you chef and front of house.

Spent a lovely Saturday afternoon here, fish and chips were absolutely delicious and great coffee. Accommodated gluten free and dairy free without any fuss. Couldn’t fault it. Will definitely return.
