A little unusual for a pub to add an automatic service charge. A tip should be optional no? I would have probably left more but not when it’s assumed I’m afraid.

Food was very good. Service poor. We had to clear the plates from our table and put them on the next table, we were offered desserts but declined as full. The lady then just left without offering any coffees or other drinks or just the bill. We waited a while for her to come back but she never did. Then we saw her and the other waitresses eating their food in the next room at a table! So we got up went to the bar and asked for bill and left for drinks and coffee elsewhere. Such a shame.

It was nice, okay. The four of us all had the beef and guinness pie however the pie is a pot pie the pastry was ultra thin shortcrust. Brilliant that they managed to get it thinner than a 5pence piece but it didn't make it feel a pie. So a bit thicker pastry please. But on the plus side the meat was great, no fat or gristle.

Food, service and atmosphere all fantastic, another great night at the Riser!

We booked a table in advance. We were given one with the gents loos on one side, an open doorway to outside dining behind us and the bar on the other side. People exiting the loo and servers to the outside diners were pushing past and banging into our chairs. The pub was very noisy. And then we had to wait an hour for our food. Shame as we have not had a problem here before.

Far too noisy, and over 45 minutes to receive our order. Food was very good.

Great food and accommodating with children just had issues with service but rectified.

First time Saturday evening. Good to excellent service even with so many customers. Congratulation. Food excellent although my steak knife needed sharpening. Surprised a bit at the high cost but that’s now quite common.

Excellent evening meal. Good food choice, with some different ideas such as the burrata dish which was amazing. Service is always friendly and helpful and spot on with timings. Atmosphere is great - always seems to be buzzing here!

Table of three guests / three course meal. The service was just a little slow but it didn't matter especially as each dish was delicious and beautifully served. A marvellous find!
