We are both vegan and so were excited to try their vegan burgers which sound great on the website. However, when our food arrived it was bland with an overpowering onion taste and didn’t seem any different from the food you’d get at any other run-of-the-mill pub.

Good, generous helpings of burger, but I think the recipe may have changed recently as it has not been as well seasoned the last few times I have been.

Lovely burger and chips. No mango cider available unfortunately... but delicious meal out and the 2 for £22 offer is well worth it for the huge portions. The garlic mayo is amazing, but the ketchup tastes a bit cheap and too sweet.

Accidentally booked the wrong day. They still found space for us on a busy night. Food was okay, but they did fill our table before we had even finished paying. I accept this may be because they had to squeeze in us between two bookings.

Easy booking through Quandoo website for a group of 9 of us 2 weeks before at 7.45pm on a Friday evening. Did not realise this pub had no parking till I called them 2 days before, as it was not stated on their website. Thankfully, there is a car park opposite (24 hr pay and display) which was handy. My friends had arrived before us, therefore they were seated first (near the entrance) and when we arrived, the waitress took our orders for food soon after. I tried to order the sirloin steak, but it had run out! In the end, I ordered the squid/calamari which was very tasty and a good amount for £7, and my mains was the chicken breast, which came with fries, onion rings and slaw. The chicken was a bit tough, but everything else was lovely and a large portion size. A glass of white wine spritzer costed me £6 though, which I thought was quite expensive! As for the bill, I had to get up to ask for the bill, as after the first request, the bill still did not arrive after 15 mins (one of my friends had to catch the last bus home), and so I went up and asked for it again. The bill was given to me in the end (!), and then I had to go up a 3rd time to ask them to bring a card machine over. All in all, it was good for its location and availability of parking, alright service for drinks and food, average for the bill, and expensive for the drinks. It was still a good night had by all, as they had a good selection of food for vegetarians.

Good service and great food although the pub first does look a little Spartan. Loved the range of cask ales. Would return again for the burgers and ale.

The food was amazing as usual but the restaurant was loud and we were crammed in a corner so close that the people at the next table were trying to get involved in our conversation. We waited a long time to be served then gave up and ordered at the bar. Not up to the usual standard!

My husband chose to go to Rockstone as it was his birthday treat and he had heard how great the burgers were. Personally, I am not a great burger lover but I have to say these burgers were very tasty. Be sure to go hungry though because the burgers are a fair old size...

Amazing food, livey atmosphere. The burgers are amongst the best in Southampton. The pub is a little on the cosy side and was very busy when we visited, so booking a table in advance is a must.

Can't recommend The Rockstone enough. The staff are super friendly, the food is delicious (and the menu names extremely punny), and their selection of drinks is wonderfully vast. A fantastic place to visit for meaty and vegan food!

Tasty food as ever, slight problem (with their suppliers not the restaurant) but handled superbly by the lovely staff behind the bar. The pub was decorated with a Halloween theme which was nice!

Great cosy pub with a decent menu and a great selection of ales, gins & rums! The food menu has plenty to choose from and the burgers are BIG... certainly some of the best in Southampton! Have a go at the Volcano Burger if you're feeling brave! 🌶🔥

Awesome food, super creative menu for vegans-carnivores. For people with dietary issues or who can eat anything. Inside looks like bog standard old pub, and it’s super small... but none of this matters because the food is magnificent and the service great

The food was as expected, incredible! Knew it would be. The young lad behind the bar was pretty uninterested with anything but talking to his mate behind the bar. As soon as we walked in, he looked at us and continued to finish his conversation with his mate before asking us we wanted and at the end of when we were ready to pay, he took our payment whilst talking to his pal again, handed back our card without looking at us with a quick bland goodbye. Let’s just say, it’s not that he was rude or anything but I’ve had warmer welcomes from a frequently used toilet seat.

Our visit to the Rockstone was as good as it always is. Table was ready and waiting for us when we were arrived and we were quickly served on entering. Food was excellent - I particularly enjoyed the calamari starter - and there was a good selection of ales on tap. We’ll be back soon :-)
