Absolutely fantastic food, we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were all so friendly too. The only bit of constructive feedback we would like to give is that the ‘optional’ service charge aspect of the billing process felt uncomfortable. We felt we should be able to choose the amount we would like to tip instead of an automatic 10%, then being asked which price we would like to pay. We would be happy to tip but we would like to choose, as you would normally be able to, how much we would like to tip and it be handled discreetly and without any pressure. It felt very uncomfortable to say no to the service charge and choose our own amount to tip.

Decided to take advantage of their restaurant week menu, and give it a try, as we’ve been wanting to try it out for a while. My husband had the squid to start, which he enjoyed, although we both agreed that the accompanying chilli and lime pickle had a rather medicinal taste. I had the mussels, which were beautifully cooked and delicious. We both had the flattened rump for our main. Again, perfectly cooked, with a lovely flavour. A little chewy, but a common trait of rump. The fries were tasty and the salad was salad! We had a side of onion rings which were delicious, and I had peppercorn sauce, which had a wonderful flavour, though was a little on the thin side. Both finished up with the sticky toffee sundae which was gorgeous. Overall a lovely meal and a bargain price when using the offer.

We were given a table in the middle of the main area which would have been fine but, being by the opening into the conservatory, was draughty. My fillet steak was supposed to be medium-rare but was well done at one end evolving to medium-rare at the other. I do find that catching waitresses’ eyes can be difficult; instead of surveying the whole restaurant as they move about, they often seem to be blind to their clientele’s presence and wishes. This requires training.

First Class Sunday Lunch will definitely return as soon as possible

Food was absolutely amazing not 1 fault at all! The chateaubriand and the sides, the chicken shawarma, chicken katsu and the porterhouse and not one of us had anything bad to say about any of it! The desserts where a massive let down the toffee apple crumble was hard and the cookie dough was burnt and tasteless but can’t take that away the amazing food and amazing service!

Really positive experience, the service was great. My only comment would be that I don’t like 10% gratuity added onto your bill automatically. Whilst I would have tipped anyway it is a bit awkward being presented with it.
