Just returned to London after living abroad for a year and so pleased that nothing has changed in T&C, in fact it may even have got better. Its generous (more than generous) plates of food are flavour packed, the prices still more than reasonable, and the service warm, friendly and reassuringly informal. Thanks a million to everyone involved. (¡What a great feta salad you serve!)
Really great evening. We were a group of 12 for a birthday dinner. The food was delicious (and so much of it!). For large groups they serve a meze for the table, and the selection and quality was awesome. Nice baklava and watermelon to finish. Brilliant evening, thanks Tsiakkos. P.s. remember to bring cash!
Tsiakkos & Charcoal is about as local as you can get, and the passion felt when you enter this London restaurant in Maida Vale is infectious. This small and cosy Greek restaurant pays particular attention to everything from the muted wooden furnishings and soft retro-style decor, to the precise, colourful and vibrant manner in which they plate their delicious dishes. With succulent meats cooked to perfection on the charcoal grill, on full display from the open kitchen, the menu at Tsiakkos & Charcoal is without a doubt the star of the show.
Kick things off in true Greek style at Tsiakkos & Charcoal with a few mezze plates to share. Some of our favourites include, loukanika of Greek pork sausage from the chargrill, beetroot salad drenched in lashings of olive oil, garlic and parsley, halloumi dressed with olive oil and lemon, and a traditional dip made from smoked cod roe called taramosalata. For the main event, keep an eye out for the traditional moussaka made with layered pork mince, potato and aubergine topped with a housemade bechamel sauce, slow-cooked pork shoulder or the delectable seabream dressed simply with olive oil and lemon. Though, to be honest no trip to Tsiakkos & Charcoal is complete without washing it all down with a chilled glass of ouzo!
