The food and service were excellent, while the atmosphere was friendly and comfortable. The Father's Day lunch was good value for money as well, although the specials were a little on the high side.
Very good food and a nice ambiance. Its expensive but worth the money for a treat. we ate off the main menu, good attention to gluten free needs.
Food was good. Wine mediocre. Service got worse as the restaurant filled. We were served by a variety of staff. I much prefer having one person responsible for the dining experience, as it gives a greater feeling of commitment and personal involvement.
Lovely meal with good friends, the atmosphere was great and the service was excellent as usual, the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend a visit.
Food was perfect, staff friendly and attentive. The tables for two never feel very private though, they are very close together, which is a shame.
They didn't have the wine we wanted on the menu and then the beer ran out and we had to asked for the waitress 3 times for some service
1884 Dock Street Kitchen is a good but not great restaurant. It stands out in Hull for decor, location, and presentation of food, but during our visit let itself down with a *very* long wait for dessert, and poor flavour / texture in the final course. Otherwise, it was great.
Disappointed, my fiancée 21st birthday, no extra effort made by the restaurant! Very very small portions, not worth the money. Westwood in Beverley is better.
Best restaurant in hull by far its a must if anyone is visiting the city, the food and staff are outstanding and they have a great selection of beverages,
Great food and service in a fantastic setting, well done JB and all the staff
The Carpaccio of beef had ice crystals in it. I mentioned it to the waiter but received no apology. The portions were quite small. For the money I'd have expected better. The maître d was on his phone when we left.
Love it here food and wine is fantastic staff always friendly cheese board one of our favourites stinking bishop is a must when we have cheese board
Great food great staff great place, excellent value from the market menu can't beat it, lovely atmosphere very welcoming and very relaxed place thank you
Visited last night with clients. The staff were lovely, very attentive and polite, the food was excellent. Delivered on all levels. Will definitely return and would highly recommend.
Lovely food, great atmosphere, will come again. Loved the ample choices off gin and tonic and wine. Very attentive waiting staff, couldn't be faulted. Don't miss out
Excellent food and very attentive service. Quite pricey butt you get what you pay for. The selection of gins is fantastic. Highly recommended for a special occasion.
Excellent food with a good choice of a specialised menu. Beautifully presented. Very pleasant and helpful staff who are knowledgeable about both the menu and wine list. Highly recommended.
Fantastic food. Best restaurant in Hull. Would go again. Went early so staff more attentive. Excellent ale & wine selection. Quick service. Fantastic venue. Everything is thought about.
This was our first at the restaurant and we were very impressed. It's simply excellent food in a truly perfect setting! I would certainly recommend for a treat!
Sunday lunch with family. We had an excellent meal, with excellent service. The wine choices were extensive. Overall a most enjoyable experience and surprisingly good value for the quality provided.
We would definitely recommend a visit to 1884, the quality of the food was excellent, great service and a superb wine list. Can't wait to go back.
Has to be the best restaurant in Hull by a country mile. The food is not cheap but you most certainly get what you pay for! The service is a match.
First class dining experience, great food and drink in elegant surroundings, the service was exceptional and I am already planning our next visit which can't come soon enough.
Me and my husband had s brilliant time at 1884 last night. Fantastic service and beautiful food. Extensive wine list and staff had great knowledge on their products. Very informative.
Market Menu great value for money again. Well cooked ingredients, excellent flavour. Professional and friendly service. Usual high standards maintained. Would recommend the restaurant to anyone.
Menu very limited, food not for the hungry and extremely expensive .Wine prices crazy.I would have expected a choice of meats and being at a Fishing Port a good selection of sea foods.
Great food, great atmosphere. My favourite place for Sunday lunch, love the set menus, two or three courses, they are good value. We ate in the bar this time, just as good especially if there are only two of you.
a great evening, attentive non intrusive staff (Lee) fantastic food, great atmosphere will be returning soon celebrating daughters birthday couldn't have gone any better. The fresh oysters were a treat, steak cooked to perfection with a selection of fine cheeses to finish. who could want more.
Disappointing starters which were poor value for money at £11.50 each. Main courses were enjoyable and although we also enjoyed a great cheese board for desert the overall service left us a little underwhelmed with a bill totalling £120
We went for our first wedding anniversary and were not disappointed! We had great food and an amazing welcome - we will definitely be back!
Great food and an enthusiastic, young team. A warn welcome awaits you in a buzzing but refined atmosphere is matched by the fine food, wine selection and a well considered bar.
Fantastic food and excellent. Every time I have the chance to enjoy such delicious dishes I am more convinced it is one of the best restaurants I have tried in ENgland.
Great Venue and ambience, steaks are especially good! The staff are very efficient and friendly nice place to go for special occasions. Would thoroughly recommend.
A wonderful dining experience with excellent service. Lovely relaxing atmosphere and attentive staff. I was celebrating my retirement and was presented with an icing and decorations message. The food was excellent and very well presented and served. Can't wait to revisit.
Everything was spot on - the only mistake was that the waitress who asked which wine we wanted must have misheard my husband and brought something completely different (we ordered a white and a red came) but we took it and, to be fair, it was absolutely fine. Foid was very good, especially the toffee sauce with the sticky toffee pudding!
Food and service are good. Choice of food and wine is also good. The ambuience is also relaxing and enjoyable, not noisey and enough going on for comfort.
We had a nice time in 1884 Kitchen.. Food was amazing.. My only suggestion would be having a cocktails menu.. they claimed that could make what I wanted, I asked for a couple of cocktails but they didn't have the ingredients.. Is easier if they list what they have.. ☺
Food good service very slow . Ordered quickly it then took an hour to bring our starters, took another 45 minutes for main course .
Great service and fantastic food in a great setting. The staff are very attentive and made our whole group feel welcome and the Sunday lunch is great value for money
Have to say we were very impressed with 1884 Dock Street Kitchen . From entering, the staff were very welcoming and friendly . The service was excellent and the food , well all we can say is compliments to the chef. Well cooked ,tasted delicious and well presented. Also , from the restaurant to the bar and the toilets was spotlessly clean .Background music was great too as you could still hear yourself talking without it being too loud , and the old film of Laurel and Hardy was nice to see too. Very well done and would highly recommend.
Really good food and good service too. The best restaurant in central Hull, probably on a par with Pipe and Glass (which is Michelin starred). Really good to have this type of restaurant in Hull
Fab place as always, this is my fifth visit to the restaurant and had a lovely sunday dinner with a bottle of wine will definately be going back again.
Good food, good service. The monkfish was undercooked, despite being sent back once, otherwise everything well cooked and beautifully presented. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant.
Top class, from entering to exiting, would sit well in London or Leeds. Hull has a gem of a restaurant, would definitely go back A+++
Spent a Friday evening at 1884 with friends. The atmosphere was excellent as was the service. The restaurant is in a lovely setting overlooking the marina and last but not least the food was really good too.
My wife and I both enjoyed our visit to 1884 for an excellent lunch from the set menu. Attentive staff (there but not pushy), served beautifully cooked food. Lovely fresh baked bread served whilst our starters of mussels in cream & white wine and chicken & bacon terrine were being cooked. Main courses were waygu beef casserole with rosemary dumplings and fig & chestnut risotto, both equally delicious, all washed down with a lovely red. Unfortunately we were too full to have desserts but did have coffee and liqueurs. Altogether a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
The food and the ambience was great as always when I visit 1884, but I did feel that the service was a little cool. My colleague also commented on this. I'm not sure we got a smile out of the waitress all evening. Having said this, service has always been very welcoming in the past so perhaps she was just having an off-night. I would certainly recommend 1884 to anyone visiting Hull. The market menu in particular is exceptional for the quailty of food that you are served.
The service was extremely slow and there was lack of attention from the waiting staff, we felt at times that we had been forgotten. I had mentioned on my reservation that one member of the party had a allergy, we had to mention it again as they did not seem aware, we placed our order and then after about 45 mins another member of staff asked again if we had any allergies! The only meal option the waiter could offer my grandma was a plain omelette, when we asked can she not have any fillings, he mentioned about 3 items but then proceeded to ask if she just wanted it plain! It did finally arrive as a very nice omelette with filling! I would not return or recommend purely on the service level. Food was of a reasonable standard but not outstanding.
Because of time pressure our party only had time for two courses off the table d'hote menu, but it was well presented in timely fashion and was excellent.
Fantastic food, lovely service, truly the best place I've eaten in Hull. The Roast Beef in particular was really delicious and the portion sizes were great
