Staff all very pleasant. Starters were good, nicely presented and tasty. Main courses however, were average at best. Coffee was ok, but not offered cream, and no sweetmeat of any kind. At that price would expect some titbit!

Great food and service. The only criticism was that my scallop starter only had two, rather than four, scallops. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful. The food was great value for money.

We have eaten there many times now, but this was the nicest food and service we have ever had. Be back at the end of July.

The portions were VERY small - I think someone from this restaurant should visit the Pipe & Glass at South Dalton and see what Michelin style food portions should be. The food was presented well and did taste good, but overall I will not be rushing to book again. The staff came over as very pretentious and unapproachable. All in all, not impressed - sorry

Without a doubt, the best restaurant in Hull! The food is always 5*, and the staff are amazing. They are always helpful and cheery. Lovely surroundings too.

The food and service was fabulous, as always. My partner is a pescatarian, with a nut allergy and they are more than happy to modify the dishes to suit. One of my favourite restaurants.... Keep up the great standards.

Our initial drinks order was very frustrating, we were asked about 5 times if we were ready to order, felt so rushed! Our soup starter didn't come with the promised "homemade bread". I ordered my lamb medium to well. When it came it was not done enough for me, it was taken back with no argument but I could see the chef arguing with the waitress. If I am paying £26 for just 3 pieces of lamb ( no sides! ) I expect it to be cooked exactly as I want it!! My husband enjoyed the dinner more than me which is why I have given it a 3. I would not rush to go back again, but it was very busy and is clearly a popular place.

Food was good. But staff not so good. Got the seating totally wrong having mentioned weeks prior and also the day before the meal the need for bench seating due to by back. When we arrive we was sat on a hard chair.

Food was amazing. There wasn’t too much or too little, just right. Service was good, chef was not willing to give us one of the mains because it had been slightly over cooked and provided another main with complimentary treats. I thought they had integrity and proud of the standard they put out.

All the staff at 1884 are so polite, attentive and very professional, the food is beautifully presented and delicious and you.can select fine wines, champers or.try an excellent cocktail. The atmosphere is pleasant and the decor is classic with lovely chandeliers, there is also some seating outside for those occasional warm summer eveningschool. There is also a separate bar area where you can sit and have drink before you dine or after and the staff are happy to ring for a taxi when are ready. Some would say it is a bit pricey but I wanted the best as a treat for wife on the.occasion of her Seventieth Birthday and we were not disappointed, I.would highly recommend 1884 as a top class City restaurant as we usually go to country establishments in some of the Villages that surround Hull.

The steaks are excellent and even a critical wife complemented the chef, the service was spot on, not overpowering but available when required. The atmosphere was also good in as much as we could hear each other speak, surrounding clean and pleasant so all round very positive. Pay slightly more than average but we all agreed it was worth the extra.

Nice restaurant, most staff friendly, a little overpriced. Have been to similar style resturants that weren't as expensive. Glad we went once but wouldn't go again.

Had a fabulous meal for two from the set menu on Saturday lunch time. The food was very good quality and presented well. The waiting staff were attentive however not too intrusive which was in my opinion spot on. Very good value for money two course and a glass of wine for £20 a head. This place should be packed out can’t understand why it’s not maybe down to marketing. Will go again soon.

The food and wines were lovely, as we have come to expect from 1884 Dock Street Kitchen and the service was good. We all chose from the Chef's Selection and all our party really enjoyed their dishes. However, it was very diffcult to have much conversation as there was live music in the form of a singer, guitar and very loud amplifier for nearly an hour during our visit. Although we were seated behind the singer and the amplifier, it was still very difficult to converse, which rather spoilt the occasion. We were thankful not to be in front of the amplifier where the volume was even greater. When we visit 1884 Dock Street Kitchen we are looking for beautifully presented and imaginatively cooked food and to be able to enjoy the company of those we go with. We do not need, and do not wish to have, live musical entertainment, no matter how good the performer may be. In future will will not book to go on any evening when live music is planned.

Great atmosphere, range of food, value for money and service was excellent. I would only suggest salt and pepper and other condiments be freely available on the tables (we had to ask for some salt) - very minor point.
