1884 Dock Street Kitchen

Excellent service and food was great, the steak was cooked extremely well, this is the fifth time I have been and I would say 1884 is the best restaurant in Hull.

Took my sister for her 65th birthday her first experience of 1884 thoroughly enjoyed it. I had been before and the service and food were just as excellent. Thank You

My meal was very nice but we had a guest who was gluten and dairy free and the choice was extremely limited. For such a nice restaurant they should have better options and make an effort.

Lovely delicious tasty food ... Good service not rushed. Enjoyed the pianist in bar! Great atmosphere .. We all had the Christmas menu -5 course & a prosecco .. Just perfect.

I would definitely recommend 1884! The food was fantastic and the service was first class, perfect for a celebratory meal. I will be back again very soon!

The table was booked for Sunday Lunch as a birthday gift for my Father in Law to be. We all opted for the set menu. The food was excellent value for money and the service was attentive. The waiter was happy to replace my partners main course as the meat was a little underdone for his liking. In all, a really enjoyable experience and great atmosphere. The only criticism I would have is that we were waiting some time for the drinks we ordered....however it was a really busy Sunday afternoon.

The food is the best quality in the area. The true strength here though is the staff's knowledge of everything on the menu (wine included)

Amazing service , friendly , polite staff . 1884 made us a cake which made the night that little more special to celebrate my wife's 30th birthday and the food tasted grate too.

Excellent food in a pleasant setting. Friendly knowledgeable staff making it a good night. Well worth the visit with two options of a la carte or a cheaper market menu. Wine was smooth and fruity.

Our first visit here. Excellent food and service. The menu is imaginative and well presented. Staff very helpful and ready to offer advice on wine choice and extra information on the dishes on offer. We will return!

When you take business clients out for a meal, you need to be able to rely on it being a great experience. At 1884 I know they will always have one because of the excellent food and staff. Last nights meal was no exception.

Excellent friendly service, great atmosphere. Lovely well presented food, maybe not for the super hungry but suits us fine. Shame there were no macarons to have with our coffee this time!

Very good meal and service in pleasant surroundings. The lunchtime 3 course set menu was very good quality and good value at £21 per head.

Pleasant greeting as we arrived and shown to our table. Looked after by two waiters. They were very gracious and allowed us plenty of time to make our choices - no rushing ! Staff wished us a sincere goodbye including the chef. Food was excellent !!

Not much crab in the crab starter, pigeon dry, plaice bland, after spending £135 left hungry. not that impressed won't be going again, pity because the has a good atmosphere

Attentive, non-intrusive service, tasteful food presented with attention to detail in a fabulous environment with stunning views over the Marina! What more can you ask for when you want to enjoy your company and what is on your plate? I recommend every time.

The food was excellent but unfortunately the service was not. We waited an extraordinarily long time for the starters and then also the mains. We were with an important customer so it was particularly disappointing. The waitress did her best to keep us happy and was apologetic for the time each course took to arrive. Seemingly there was a staff problem. A couple of bottles of wine free of charge was offered and accepted. We will return as the food was so good but I would expect a better service next time.

The restaurant is laid out very well. Plenty of space. The tables aren't crammed together like some establishments. Food was excellent, as was the service. All things together, made for a very enjoyable and relaxed dining experience. Will definitely be returning.

Excellent service from the very moment we entered the restaurant. Food was exceptional both aesthetically and in taste. 1884 is fast becoming a must visit for us when in the Hull area.

The decor and atmosphere in the restaurant is most pleasant, staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is always excellent and locally sourced where possible.

Way over priced, food not that good for what they charge and then they add VAT at the bottom of the bill, when all other restaurants include VAT in the price they advertise. I won't be going there again.

This is the third time I have been to 1884 and the service is normally incredible and last night it was awful. We went for the set menu, three courses with a glass of fizz for £25.00 each. I have had this everytime and its brilliant. Last night we were shown to our table and we placed our order. I was driving but my partner ordered the matching wine. Our bread arrived, still no drinks. Then our soup came for starters. A waitress came over with two glasses of wine, I advised that we had only ordered one and mentioned that we had still not had our fizz. She was apologetic and brought it over for us. Food was perfect as normal, my partner felt the main was very salty but it was nice. The guy who served us then went on to barge in to my chair and didnt offer a murmer of apology. When we got the bill we were reluctant to leave a tip due to the poor service, we are normally really good tippers. As we were leaving the man who served us was counting our money into the till and looked mad, when we walked out we didnt even get a thank you or anyhting. Immensly dissapointing service to what we are used to at 1884!

I went for dinner as the doors opened and was first one in but I was made very welcome and really looked after. Beautifully decorated inside and a wonderful spot by the dock. Market menu was very good value for money and the food was good. My hake and vegetables were cooked beautifully. Enjoyed the lemon meringue pie; the pastry was so thin and crisp. Not 100% sure about the green tea ice cream - couldn't taste much against the strong lemon flavour. A bonus glass of Prosecco was the cherry on top of the cake. Not huge portions which was good for me but don't go ravenous. Would have been nice to be offered a gluten free alternative to the bread which looked lovely but I can't eat. I didn't ask if they had an alternative so they may have one and just didn't think to offer it. Would go again.

Lovely relaxed atmosphere, with excellent service and delicious food. The dining area was spacious. We had a three course meal with wine and thought it was excellent value. Highly recommended.

Fantastic good and amazing service - would highly recommend the fillet steak and bone marrow. The atmosphere was also very relaxed but busy at the same time!

As always, a lovely experience beside Hull Marina. The sun was shining and the food was excellent. My Vegan diet was carefully catered for in beautiful fashion with two choices of starter and two mains. I opted for beetroot to start and seasonal vegetables and potato rosti for my main along with some chunky chips. Awesome stuff.

Highly recommend, lovely place, great service fantastic food the perfect place to celebrate my wedding anniversary..its not the cheapest place but it was definately worth the money

Fabulous dinner and great service. The food was fresh, inventive and extremely tasty. I also enjoyed some New Zealand Sauv Blanc. I'll definitely visit again.

An excellent foodie experience. Quality food and staff. From start to finish, this establishment excels. With a total lack of competition, it would have been easy to let standards slip but they never do. Professionalism is the maxim here.
