I always love visiting 1884. The mid week set menu is excellent value for money with three courses including a glass of prosecco for £25. I took my parents as a treat and we enjoyed the food. My only disappointment was that the mash potato on my main meal wasn't very warm at all and also my apple pie wasn't very hot-not a huge temperature difference with the accompanying ice cream. I wouldn't like to think this was because we ordered off the set menu but if I had been paying more, I would have felt the need to complain.
1884 was amazing from entering the door to leaving nothing was to much trouble. They know how to serve a G&T exceptional, we had the 3 course set menu for £25.00 which includes a glass of red white rose or prosecco such a fantastic deal. Definitely recommend and will be returning very soon WELL DONE 1884.
Amazing food. Environment fitting for a relaxed evening. Staff very attentive. Enjoyed watching the kitchen staff prepare the food maticulously. Beautiful meal at a resonible price
Always excellent and a big draw to visit the city. With all the bars surrounding, you’ve now got a full night within a couple of minutes walk.
Excellent food, a bit pricey. Service not as good as usual, think the girl serving was having an off day. Hopefully service will be back to the normal standard next time.
Visited on a recommendation and was not disappointed. Slightly pricey but in all good value for money. Excellent reception and waiting staff. Nice wine list
Great meal, well presented. Helpful and friendly staff. Only thought is that the starters - with 3 shellfish and two game dishes - could have benefitted from a better variety of options.
there was a lovely and welcoming atmosphere with friendly service and the food was great. We had the Sunday lunch menu. We weren't rushed through our meal at all. Will go again.
Good without being anything more. Service ok. Setting quite nice. Food - menu quite limited, portions small, quality reasonable. Overall just good but could be much better.
Excellent reception they were spot on with the gluten free menu took great care in explaining the options. A great dining experience. We will definitely recommend it
We really enjoyed our meal at 1884 Dock street Kitchen. The food was good and so was the service. We will certainly go again. We would also recommend it.
All the food was amazing quality, and service was very good. The atmosphere was lovely and not too crowded. Great variety of drinks and all the food we had was perfect.
Good value sunday lunch in very pleasant surroundings, the menu was varied and offered enough choice. The staff were very friendly and made sure that we were comfortable The service was efficient. We will certainly return to try the a la carte menu
Excellent starter and main. Lovely ambience, busy but relaxed. Nice to be able to select wine by bottle, glass or carafe. Very impressed would definitely return.
Great food, fabulous service and beautiful surroundings. We would definitely go back and. Just wish we lived close by to enjoy it more regularly. A real find!
Excellent food, top class service and great atmosphere. Would recommend the fillet steak but my friends had lobster and venison and they both enjoyed theirs too. A very special night, would definitely go again!
Good food in fabulous setting with excellent service. Background music was subtle to allow conversation without shouting and featured some of my fav sounds. All in all, a lovely experience.
Excellent food - really tasty and good value on the set lunch menu BUT the service was far too slow. Starter arrived promptly but then had to wait over 30 minutes for the main course.
Atmosphere was good, decor very good, food was superb, price was fair. Service was good but a bit slow between starter n main. Wine very good n cocktails very good too.
I'm temped to write a negative review so that we could can have the place to ourselves. However, I can't as it is a truly excellent restaurant with skilled and attentive staff and a lovely decor We will be back!!
Excellent food, wine and service. Have dined here many times and it never fails to please me. I would always recommend 1884 if you want a wonderful dining experience.
Having had difficulty finding a restaurant to celebrate with 4 visitors to Hull we came across 1884 and it didn't disappoint. It has a fixed price menu with a good range of dishes and an a al carte menu with more choice. Great food and a relaxed atmosphere.
The restaurant was extremely busy with many large parties resulting in the service being rather slow. Food excellent but main course could have been warmer.
The food at 1884 is outstanding. The staff are always friendly and professional and provide a great service. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Lovely staff and pleasant surroundings. The food was lovely. A very enjoyable lunch. Having visited the Turner prize finalists at the Ferens Art Gallery it rounded of the morning/lunch perfectly.
Friendly knowledgeable staff, nothing too much trouble, great menu choices, superb food well presented . The set menus are excellent value. Each visit has never disappointed.
Wonderful sexy, wonderful ambience, very friendly staff. Wonderful food with inspiring menu. Prices were good considering the setting and service, just wished the portions had been bigger.
Excellent food, ambience, service. The knowledge of the staff around the food and drinks offer is excellent. Will not hesitate to recommend to other groups
The food was absolutely amazing! Service was great too. Our group of six thought the fixed price menu was excellent value. Only slight criticism was that there was not much vegetarian selection on either the fixed price or a la carte menus.
An excellent experience overall. We enjoyed the small, stylish portions; service was at the right pace, and the layout of the restaurant was such that we could talk without being deafened by other customers.
Excellent value set menu. Perfectly cooked hake. Friendly service. Recommend. Very nice loos, always a good sign! Lovely setting near the marina. Good buzzy atmosphere.
Excellent as usual. Service, food, ambiance can't fault the place will definitely be coming again. First time there for Sunday dinner and I'll be recommending to friends and family.
We celebrated our friends birthday with a delicious lunch and enjoyed every mouthful. We had left too long between visits and will certainly be going again in the near future. The whole ambience of this beautiful restaurant plus very attentive staff makes me so proud of such a beautiful and affordable restaurant on our lovely Marina.
We were a large party which can often be confusing but they looked after us well and the set menu was good value plus lovely venue.
Excellent food, good wines, we found out only the a la carte menu on Saturday. So choose Mon to Friday lunch for the set 2 / 3 course menu.
Been several times before always raved about it. Food was as good as ever however the service was poor. Disappointed as we had American colleagues with us and was hoping to show good British hospitality.
What can I say... Wow. Friendly, Knowledgeable staff, set in a beautiful dock side building overlooking the old Humber Dock (now Hull Marina) the interior boasts an elegant mix of both Art Deco and Modern Design styles. We were greeted by Matti a lovely man with a great sense of humour. We were invited to take drinks in a booth by the bar whilst deciding what to order - the Prosecco is wonderful. After ordering our food a waitress came to take our drinks & to show us through to our table. I enjoyed Pigeon Breasts for my starter, Lobster for my main & Lemon Tart with Turkish Delight Ice Cream for my dessert. I couldn’t fault the food, beautifully presented, with amazing flavour in every bite and perfectly cooked. After finishing our meal the staff at 1884 surprised me with a complementary sweet dish to celebrate my 25th Birthday. I couldn’t thank the staff at 1884 enough for making my 25th Birthday Meal so special. I’d highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for something special in the UK city of culture 2017.
Fantastic food and great service. Ambience is always great in this place. We cannot recommend it enough. The Sunday roast is so nice and great value for money.
Amazing food - service and wine! Good atmosphere and great feeling to the restaurant. Will come back again when next in Hull. Really recommend to anyone
Very pleasant, great food and ambience, definitely worth returning. Good value for money, sticky toffee pudding just up my Street with plenty of sauce just right
This is a special treat for me as I only visit Hull once a year and would not think of eating anywhere else. Quality food, well presented in a pleasing atmosphere
Fantastic food, nice atmosphere and lovely building. Great to get high quality ingredients treated well and beautifully presented. Avoids the Yorkshire norm of quantity over quality!
A very warm and welcoming atmosphere, the staff were attentive, but not not pushy or in your face, the meal was excellent, and we were given enough time between courses. Questions we asked regarding the food were answered very informatively. Overall a lovely night.
My only criticism of the meal were that the goose fat skinnny fries were limp and soggy and the cappuccino I ordered was quite possibly the worst I have ever seen. McDonalds cappuccino was better!!!! I did not complain at the time as it was my sons 18th so did not want to make a fuss. The rest of the meal was excellent, the steaks are phenomenal and service was great.
Nice restaurant, quite pricey - £27 for quite a small lobster. Nice crab starter. Overall very nice. Black pudding bread roll was very tasty! Good wine selection
Top quality food , excellent service , would highly recommend this place , only negative, the air on was on and it felt rather cold , this was at 9pm in October
Food and Service are brilliant - price isn't silly either! Lovely Birthday lunch for my Wife. Always impressed with the cheese choice on offer. Will return for sure.
A delicious, traditional Sunday lunch, excellent portion size, comfortable surroundings, efficient service, very goood value for money plus kindness & consideration shown by all to my elderly mother. Thank you.
Food was very good. Set menu good value for money. Staff were appropriate and polite, but food service was very slow. I would come again.
My wife’s first and main courses were excellent. My own (crab followed by lobster) were OK but nothing more and did not justify the high price.
