Lovely experience, décor and ambience. Hull desperately needed a top quality restaurant like 1884. Not just about the food which is excellent but the whole experience in this classy stylish restaurant. Staff are excellent friendly but very professional and attentive.
A fantastic fine dining experience. The steak was full of flavour and the lobster was cooked wonderfully. All the staff were great, kind and enthusiastic.
Amazing food, the lamb was probably the best I've ever had. The service was lovely, the girl who served us was really attentive. A lovely place to celebrate my graduation and my parents 25th wedding anniversary.
our server was exceptional. went the extra mile to help us. when we asked for more water she stopped what she was doing and went straight away
We went for Saturday lunch which was great value at 2 courses including a glass of wine for £20. The service was excellent and the food delicious.
This was my first visit but will not be the last. Great food and brilliant service I was entertaining London clients who were both equally impressed.
Food and ambience both excellent. Marked down slightly due to excessive delay between main course and taking dessert orders. Apart from that, very good and would go again
Our first visit and it probably won't be our last. Interesting food with summery flavours and attractive presentation. A problem with one of our mains was resolved without fuss or argument. The ambience was good if a little noisy and echoey making conversation hard at times. Overall a very enjoyable evening.
We had dinner at the restaurant. The service was attentive and we enjoyed the food. Good variation on the menu with the option of an affordable set menu. Small portions but sufficient if you have 3 courses. Overall expensive for the area but worth it.
Excellent food and service. Our second visit and it was as good as our first. The onion rings are not to be missed. Excellent way to celebrate our sons graduation.
Very nice but not as special as I'd hoped for given the price and the reports I'd heard. Also I'd let them know in advance that this was a special occasion, but this was never acknowledged.
An exceptional looking place and our lunch was very good. The only thing which let down the restaurant was the staff, who were not properly trained. They did not really know how to serve drinks and the meal properly. Whenever we finished our main course, they were asking us immediately what we wanted for dessert - a bit too pushy. Correct this fault and the whole experience would have been outstanding.
Another fabulous night , fabulous food and I have never had such delicious oysters anywhere. The service was incredible and the staff were incredibly friendly
Food first class, restaurant and service great would certainly go again, either for personal pleasure or professional hospitality. The location is good worth a wander round.
fabulous service, fabulous food. lovely surroundings. lunch menu represents fantastic value for money. All food cooked to perfection and the presentation amazing! Highly recommended restaurant
From entering the building the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food and drink was fantastic and once again friendly staff and good service with no waiting.
Lovely birthday meal with my partner. Set menu was good value - 3 course with glass of wine/prosecco for £25. Quality and presentation of food was of an excellent standard. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
I visit 1884 Dock Street Kitchen every year after Humber Street Sesh as I come from Leicestershire. I always enjoy the food but I felt that yesterday, and I can't really put my finger on it, it wasn't quite up to the usual standard. The food was good but the service wasn't quite spot on. I realise it was very busy but from a photograph my son took of me, there weren't that many people on the tables behind me when we were served our main course. Attention to detail seemed to be missing.
A group of six friends went to 1884 to celebrate a joint birthday, on the Sunday lunch set menu, following a bottle of prosecco in the bar area. Between us we enjoyed two good wines; excellent roast beef, pork belly and mackerel; three desserts and six cheeses from the trolley, including a surprising charcoal cheddar. As always, excellent service, warm atmosphere, great food and good value.
Excellent as ever. Food and service outstanding. The attention to detail makes this restaurant one of the best I have visited. Nothing to much trouble
As always 1884 was excellent. Couldn't fault anything. We always love our experience at this restaurant. We will be going again soon. The staff are always professional.
First class Sunday lunch with 9hr roast beef, medium rare - beautifully melt in the mouth almost. Crisp roasts, and a few veges and professional service as always.
Really good Sunday lunch. Excellent value and great service. The dessert was really delicious we had Yorkshire pudding with cream chocolate sauce and nuts and Hugh portions. Roast beef just melted in your mouth.
Amazing food and such a varied menu to choose from. Always an enjoyable atmosphere and the staff are brilliant and attentive throughout the meal! Would highly recommend
Had a fab evening. Food was amazing as always. Love dining there. I always have the steaks - keep meaning to try something else but when I look at the menu I just can't resist having another delious steak!
Love eating here it's always an enjoyable experience have been a number of times now and will continue to return as the menu changes making it a different tasting experience every time
Overall meal was good, pigeon & steak excellent, cheese cake disappointing. Waitress robotic, lacked any personality, ambiance could have been better. Expensive, wine list pretentious!
Had a very good Sunday lunch. The food was excellent. The amount of potatoes and vegetables was far too little but more were provided on request. Staff very pleasant and service good.
Absolutely amazing food as always. The oysters are the best we have had from anywhere in the world. The service is always impeccable and very clean and fabulous environment.
Brilliant food. Excellent service, lovely atmosphere. Easily catered for allergies no problem. Very attentive from all, food fresh and lovely, didn't have to wait long
Great food as always. Really cannot fault anything and the service was great too, even on a busy Fathers day Sunday lunch. Only slight issue which stopped this being top marks was the lack of lager available on that particular day due to a busy weekend. Usually not a problem though it probably just a one off
Very nice surroundings and attentive staff. I ordered the mackerel and a very tiny portion appeared on the plate. My partner had a more generous portion of meat. The vegetables were just enough for 2 people. So compared to other local restaurants the 1884 Sunday lunch at £15 for one course is expensive.
We wanted to celebrate my brothers 77th birthday and chose 1884 on recommendation of my daughter who had dined there previously and we were not disappointed at all. From entering the the restaurant we were looked after by very well trained and attentive staff who served the most amazing food. A truly very pleasent experience to which we shall look forward to a return visit in the future.
Advised to book for Thursday at 6p.m but restaurant mostly empty when we left at about 7:30 p.m. Hors D'oeuvre plate removed when my friend finished but I was still eating mine (which is just rude). Food nice, staff ok, all things considered it was expensive for the experience.
Really enjoyed, food cooked to perfection. Very nice surroundings. My only negative comment, but nothing to do with the food or service was that the air conditioning was switched on a bit too high as some of the party felt a little cold.
I have long been a fan of 1884 but am finding that being gluten free (3 years 😏) limits my choice there greatly. Went for my birthday very few gf options or offers / suggestions to adapt dishes to suit. Gf not uncommon these days so might want to look at options as so many other restaurants do. Bread, stuffing, croutons, crumbs, black pudding, yorkshire pudding, cakes, gateaux, puddings.........struggled with starter (minus black pudding crumb), one main gf (mackerel - pop corn didn't work for me), ice cream only dessert choice?
We had a very tasty meal, friendly service, an exotic menu and good ambience (especially the drink outside facing the marina, almost like the Mediterranean).
Perfect evening :) the food was perfect and the staff were so helpful. The atmosphere in the restaurant is lovely as well. Was a great anniversary dinner.
Excellent service and the food was superb. Set menu, very reasonably priced with exceptional quality food. Very attentive staff made it a very enjoyable evening. Would definitely eat there again
We chose the set luncheon menu, which was excellent value for money, and very well cooked food. I would recommend this restaurant, and look forward to visiting it again.
Good food, good atmosphere and good company. A thoroughly enjoyable evening which was enhanced by the attention to detail and responsiveness of the staff. Highly recommend
Great friendly service! Great food! Especially recommended the steaks! Good selection choice of wine and champagne. Enjoyed sitting outside with the view of the Marina...Will return again soon...
I had not been in to 1884 for a while but found the whole experience very enjoyable and the staff very friendly. I went there for lunch and the set menu is excellent value!
Amazing birthday dinner, we absolutely loved it. The service was fantastic like always. . We always enjoy going to 1884. Definitely going again. Thank you.
Amazing food and attentive service. My wife and I ate off the three courses, with a glass of wine or prossecco, for £25 which proved to be unbelievable value. Can't wait to return.
Thoroughly enjoyed the Sunday lunch as usual, the beef was beautiful. Great service, staff polite and friendly. Will definately be returning for Sunday lunch at these reasonable prices.
Excellent food with a comprehensive wine list. Great service from the friendly and knowledgable staff. A lovely atmosphere, the best restaurant in or around Hull by miles!
Excellent as usual. Sunday lunch menu for Father's Day. Attentive service, sublime food and an inspiring drinks menu. Lamb cooked to perfection and all at a reasonable price.
Lovely setting and fabulous food. Staff very friendly and attentive. Nice selection of wines. And pretty busy for a Thursday night. Would definitely return again.
Seven at the table. All said superb. The menu is slightly limited but if that's the sacrifice to get the quality then ok. Even the beer was good which is rare in restaurants.
