Overall in terms of location, atmosphere and food it was good but let down by attention to detail, like one set of vegetables not being served until almost half way through the main course, having to ask for someone to serve the wine, being left a long time until our order was taken and only having four portions of Plaice etc.

A favourite restaurant especially for steak but all three Fillet Steaks out of a table for four were unusually very dry. My other guest had Trout which was cooked to perfection.

As usual the food was exceptional. The occasion was for my son's first year as a Teacher and I wanted somewhere special - this fulfilled everything I was looking for. All the staff are brilliant, and make the experience wonderful. I thank you all, and will definitely be booking again.

Sunday lunch with mackerel and roast beef. Well presented, and beef nice and pink. Modern airy interior on dock side. Good pint of beer as well

Great steaks and a nice atmosphere, although the steaks and the waiting time was better last time we visited. One of the persons in the party did not have a good steak.

A good restaurant but rather expensive. The staff were friendly and helpful, the service was good and the food was innovative and well cooked. The restaurant is situated in an interesting dock-side location and a little off the beaten track but the staff called us a taxi which arrived within 10 minutes on a very busy night with a big concert on in town. Well worth a trip if you can afford it!

Service before, during and following the meal was very good. The 3-course menu was good v.f.m., tasty and well presented. A particular highlight was the cheese trolley. Attractive and interesting interior, but noise levels could perhaps be reduced with the addition of soft fabrics, or other means.

Always a pleasure to visit this lovely restaurant and no exception yesterday. The food was beautifully presented and very tasty and the staff as always were delightful and efficient. 10/10 for attention to detail.

Seven at the table. All said superb. The menu is slightly limited but if that's the sacrifice to get the quality then ok. Even the beer was good which is rare in restaurants.

Came for a long lunch while doing some of the 'city of culrure' events and had the set memu. Really good value given the quality of the food. Everything was beautfully presented and delicious. Excellent service as well, we would happily return and it was exactly what we wanted.

Overall the experience was lovely. We were looked after really well as we arrived and as we were about to leave. However during the dining time the service could be improved by having more staff looking after less people. This is because at times it seemed that the staff was rushing around and is not having much time to look after customers. The food was great and the chocolate sweets that We had as desserts were incredibly good! Definitely sending best compliments to the chef. Would go back again hopefully to see improvements

Nice atmosphere, good service starter excellent, main course excellent, puddings disappointing! Whilst not ordinary my mille feuille pastry was dry and a bit cardboard like, whilst my wife's Cheesecake again was OK but the, Turkish Delight drops were definitely an "acquired taste"!

Service was slow with a long time between courses, and was a little haphazard. My first course of scallop ceviche was lacking in flavour, my main course of steak was good although the cafe de Paris butter tasted overwhelmingly of curry powder, rather than the subtle spicing I expected. The deserts were a strong point but there were a lot of blobs of coloured sauces that lacked purpose and flavour. The three of us felt that the chef needed to step back and consider that sometimes less is more. The wines were good and good value and the dining room is elegant and it could be so much more than it is.

Excellent service and food, comfortable surroundings. Waitresses were very helpful when ordering both food and wine. After our meal we were able to go and sit in the comfy area for coffee which was nice. They also ordered a taxi afterwards which was very quick to arrive.

Food is very good. Service today was less 'professional' than in previous visits. Wine was poured without asking, no-one asked if our mains were Ok and the vegetables were dropped by the waitress on the table. She did apologise however the service was a bit 'cocky'. Some of the veg on the mains was too hard. It is a good place to lunch and the fixed menu remains great value. we will come again.

Very good quality of food with excellent service. Hull is changing for the better and this restaurant is up there with the best in the area. The Marina setting for 1884 is outstanding.

Great restaurant, even greater food, and two choices of menu, set menu is great value for money and the food is excellent, if they don't have a Michelin star already they deserve one. The fish is the best I've ever tasted, all the staff are polite and helpful and the overall experience memorable. Couldn't recommend it highly enough. Superb!

Enjoyable evening. Good food + service. Although told could not fit in until 7.45 there were only 2or3 other tables occupied? However, seated and served in good time.

This is a restaurant obviously positioning itself as a high-end venue in terms of food quality, presentation, standards, atmosphere, and it mostly lives up to the standards. Slightly quicker service at lunchtimes would be good, given that people usually don't have 2 hours in the middle of a weekday

A great experience. The food was the best I've ever had in Hull, the restaurant offers a great selection of food and drink all served in a lovely atmosphere. We were well looked after and nothing seemed too much trouble. Whilst not cheap, given what we had and the quality it was in my opinion good value, particularly if you're celebrating a special occasion. Already planning to go again.

Food very good although everything had excessive salt from the butter to the handcut chips to the fillet steak. Service could have been a little more personal, would expect a restaurant such as this to take your jacket and place it in a cloakroom rather than leave it on the back of your chair yourself. Overall a pleasant experience in a great setting but wouldn't rush back.

Wine was fine. First course was OK. BUT the so-called Chateaubriand was an absolute disgrace at £62.OO ... SIXTY TWO POUNDS! It looked peculiar on arrival at the table and had already been carved into thick slices in the kitchen. It did not look like a properly trimmed fillet and was certainly not a plate of beautiful rare and tender beef medallions. We ate about a third and then gave up and sent it back. The spinach we ordered as a 'side' was sopping wet and hadn't been properly drained. My husband went to the kitchen to speak to the chef and look at the meat, only to find it was vacuum packed and not freshly cut. Our bill was £14O and after our rather serious observations, £2O was deducted. Extremely mean and very poor PR. We will never go back, neither will we be recommending this place to our many friends who will be visiting Hull in the near future.

Outstanding food and excellent service. May be there should have been 2 fillets of sea bream rather than one - to match the plentiful helpings of roast beef - and it was a shame there was no decaffinated coffee due to supply issues, but these were minor quibbles.

Food was excellent (quite pricey but worth it for a special occasion). Service couldn't have been better- we were served by several different staff through the evening-all different levels of seniority- but they worked seamlessly as a team to make the experience a very good one.
