Al Porto

Food was average, steak very well cooked but the desert cheese cake was still frozen which was disappointing. Staff very friendly and atmosphere nice. Didn't live up to a referral from friends.

Al Porto: This was our first visit and expectations were high, we were greeted and seated very quickly. We ordered a light starter of garlic bread and olives, unfortunately my wife’s bruschetta came dry so we asked for it to be returned and some garlic butter to be applied. When it returned she received two slices of bread heavily coated with garlic butter. So again we sent it back stating we wanted the bread to be bruschetta style this they did. For mains my wife ordered the duck unfortunately this had been cremated I however ordered the risotto marinara I was thoroughly enjoying it and would go as far as to say it was probably the best risotto I have ever had the texture and taste was amazing until that was, I reached a layer of salt which made it totally unpalatable. We then asked to see the sweet menu and having decided our choices we waited and waited until eventually the waitress returned at which point we decided to take the bill instead. The wine, which has been pointed out by previous reviewers was bang on (for my palate). In summary the front of house were charming, the ambience was relaxing the kitchen made some really bad school boy errors. Would we go again? Yes, we believe they deserve a second chance so watch this space!

This was the first time that I and my family had been to Al Porto and I found the experience excellent, I cannot fault the staff or the food and I would definitely come back and I would recommend Al Porto to friends

Interesting menu, well cooked and beautifully presented! Do not be put off by the appearance of the entrance, once inside the restaurant it is atmospheric. Attentive, cheerful staff.

The restaurant had an authentic atmosphere, making me feel as though I was on holiday in Italy; the waiter and waitresses had great hospitality and the food tasted delicious!

The food was very nice but my order for main was wrong and service was very slow. 3 hours for a 3 coarse meal. And it was expensive

Faultless, food and service excellent. More Mediterranean cuisine than Italian would say, rather than Italian as advertised. Definitely recommend booking too as very popular, fabulous restaurant.

The food is amazing. We chose from the specials board and so glad we did. The restaurant has such a good atmosphere and the staff are so friendly. Great night and great food.

Enjoyed a lovely family meal at Al Porto. The menu is slightly limited but this makes choosing a little easier. The specials board was good - more to choose from than from your average "specials". Service and food extremely good. Looking forward to a return visit!

Atmosphere was warm and welcoming if not a little to snug with the positioning of the tables as the table next to us was so close that the couple on it could hear our conversation . Service was very good and the food was delicious will definitely recommend to friends and will be back again .

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at AL Porto, a very busy Saturday evening but once our order was taken the service was excellent as was the food, we were particularly well looked after by Dusco? and his colleagues and we will most certainly be back!!

A lovely relaxing lunch - beautiful food and great service. The lunch specials are really good value. Quite a climb up the stairs but worth it.

Great meal and great service! We had the fillet steak and the Monkfish which were both cooked perfectly. We were recommended the house red wine which was very nice too.

The food was lovely and service friendly. My one minor complaint is that, even though I drew attention to my food intolerances the staff seemed surprised and had to be prompted to make suggestions of what I could have. The issue was successfully resolved and I enjoyed my meal but it would have been better if it was clear that the comments on the booking had been read and noted. There was nothing on the desert menu to accommodate a gluten/dairy/egg free diet. Fresh fruit salad would have been nice. However, the general atmosphere was very pleasant - busy but not noisy - and we will certainly revisit.

Fantastic food and great service all with a very good price. A great atmosphere and highly recommend the garlic bread and the tiramisu. Will be booking again soon

Fantastic food and great service. There was attention to detail through out the meal. All our food was excellent with complex flavours and delightful presentations. The scallops and steaks were perfectly cooked The pasta just lovely Sadly didn't have room for dessert

Really poor. 1 - Food was poor, ravioli was hard, liver was massive but relatively tasteless, scallops overdone, but at least the mash was ok. 2 - They let a family in at 9:00pm with screaming kids running up and down the place. I don't mind children at restaurants but not uncontrolled. A poor couple who looked like they were in for an intimate night were very unsuccessful with these kids disturbing them all the time.

Fillet steak was amazing ..only marked down because plate for starter had a chip in it and grapes for cheeseboard were not very fresh but apart from that cool place friendly staff and great food thanks

We had a great experience at Al Porto on Saturday night. The team were friendly, attentive and made a great suggestion for a preferable bottle of red to accompany our meal. The meal itself was probably one of the best Italian meals we've had in a long time. Thanks for a great experience

Excellent food and service, warm and friendly staff. Would highly recommend. Being our first visit to the restaurant we were apprehensive, as we are unable to find a suitably authentic Italian restaurant in Hull. We needed have worried. This is the best it Italian we have been to in the city.
