Friendly welcome; prompt but not over-quick service; food good. Mixed age-group in restaurant so, whether you're young or old, you wouldn't feel out of it here, at least at lunch-time. Not overly expensive for London West End.

Lovely food. However, tiny tiny portions. Even the pasta dishes were small. Tiny sausage and not much meat so order sides with any main. Desserts were heaven however they were also tiny tiny, think sample size. I'd get two or three if I were to go back which I might consider in the future.

Another enjoyable lunch with lovely staff! Please tell the waiter from Genoa that our grandson was fine. The waiter asked did he have any allergies and checked his menu choice did not contain peanuts. We explained he had a peanut allergy and he went off to check with the chef. Please tell him all was fine and he really enjoyed his lunch, as did we. We'll be back. LIZ JONES

Very pleasant and attentive staff; good menu and tasty food. The restaurant is ideally placed for cinema and theatre. This time we went to the cinema next door, and found the location very convenient.

Good location and fast, almost over enthusiastic service. Menu selection looks wide but rather short on interesting pasta dishes. Wine rather expensive for what it was.

Good meal with attentative staff, perhaps a little to so as we felt rather rushed. Perhaps they thought we need to get to the theatre, which we didn't. So if you are short on time they would probably be just what you needed.

Very central, buzzing atmosphere, excellent service and therefore great for a pre-theatre meal. But I thought it was quite expensive for what we got. Also I felt the description of my main course was misleading. It said 'ravioli with scampi', which sounded nice. However, when the waitress told me it was actually ravioli filled with salmon, with a cream of scampi sauce (no actual scampi pieces), I went off the idea and opted for the scallops and seafood. I assumed it would come with pasta, but this had to be added as an extra, which also wasn't made clear in the menu. So, overall a mixed experience and I'm not sure if we will go back a second time.

What a great find. Attentive, friendly staff and fabulous food. A great alternative to the usual tourist traps of the west end!

Very poor quality food and not good value for money. Really disappointing compared to what it could be. A real Italian would be horrified that such poor food is being sold as Italian.

Service was quick and friendly. Very good menu and good value for money. The only downside was the adding of a 12.5% service charge to the bill.

Lovely food and friendly service. One of the mains arrived 30 seconds after the other and the waiters were so apologetic for it being "late" it was nice to see that they really valued good service.

Although the service was friendly enough, the efficiency, speed and accuracy of the service wasn't very good at all, and it was hard to get anyone's attention and they add a 12.5% service charge to the bill regardless, even for small parties. The food was quite tasty but small portions and not great value for money - though this is an expensive area of London. We had to chase our food a couple of times as well. I don't think I'll return here even though it is very convenient for the theatres in the area.

We enjoyed our pre-theatre meal. The smaller bites (like tapas ) were a welcome change from large plates of one dish. Service was cheerful and efficient

Reall great atmosphere on a busy night (31st Dec), food was really good - we went for more tapas sized portions which were enough for the kids and allowed us to sample more dishes. Pizza looked good too. Service was prompt and attentive. Couldn't fault.

Ladies' loos were a in poor state - one out of order, a 2nd one blocked. Pizzas were good and service nice and fast which was what we needed pre theatre.

Friendly staff who went out of their way to seat us when we turned up 30 mins early on New Year's Eve. I had meatballs to start and then pizza which were delicious but my friends chicken parmigiana was a bit dry and not enough sauce. Would go back again.

Fennel and orange salad virtually without dressing and very watery. Liver not cooked 'rare' according to request (H. and S.). Disgusting fried pasta as garnish.

Warm welcome and a great place to eat. The service is kind but a bit too fast (the restaurant was not full). The food is delicious and seems to be homemade. The biggest problem, for me, is the size of the meals. We took pasta and I'd surely eat twice the size of my plate... It was delicious but too small ;) For the rest, the wine choice is correct (even if 2 of the red's where not available... but it was on 2nd of january, it can explains some things).

It's a nice restaurant, with some genuine surprises on the menu, and most of them are nice. Waiters waiver in their attentiveness, but that's Italy for you. :S I still like the place. I'll be back.

Good atmosphere and attentive staff. Love the small dishes so can try lots of different things. The home made ravioli was delicious as was the calves liver and the spinach. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived so we were given a glass of prosecco on the house which was much appreciated.

We came to Assaggetti last week before going to the theatre . We booked our table beforehand and on arriving, were shown to a nice window table overlooking the Haymarket opposite the theatre.. The service was exemplary, the waiter describing what was on offer at the restaurant. We opted for pizzas and were not disappointed- good size, thin base with lovely fillings and beautifully fresh. The desserts were lovely too and the coffee unpretentious .It was very good value and we shall definitely return maybe to try the tapas which looked very nice. All in all a very good experience.
