The food at the bird in hand is fantastic, a great place and a great setting. Highly recommend to all. Thank you to all staff.

Friendly service and food delivered promptly to the table. Overall everyone liked their menu choices, although perhaps the taste of one dessert did not fully live up to its impressive presentation. We will definitely go back to eat again.

Good food, great selection of local ales, and a fantastic garden. Staff were very attentive, and changing our original booking wasn't a problem. A fantastic easy to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Excellent service and atmosphere my Rump steak was not the medium rare I ordered but still tasty. Ott meals were fine. Would recommend eating here.

Food was very good, waiter excellent. Unfortunately shown the specials, one of which was chosen - but they had run out. A little noisey for my preference, tables very close to each other.

We went for birthday lunch. Food and service excellent. .Very friendly knowledgeable staff where nothing was too much trouble. We had the duck breast which was cooked to perfection, a rather nice green curry, and beef roast.

Lovely pub, very busy but great service nonetheless. Not the best fish and chips I've ever had but quite nice. Huge portions! Complimentary bread and speciality butter to start (today it was butter with beetroot). Would recommend the place.

Had a big party in so felt my booking didn't matter, couldn't order until chef said so .but the food ordered was very nice. All the staff were serving the big party.so had to wait until they were all served first.

Delicious breakfast and super friendly staff good fuelup before a pretty walk from the pub to Catherington downs. The bird on hand offers excellent food and is a good way to start and finish a county walk on the southdowns.

Food really good and service was quick. Just felt we were being rushed out of the door a bit too quickly. Very popular place to visit

The staff were really lovey , offered a large range of dairy and gulden free options . Would recommend to friends, and can't wait to go back

The booking was made for 8:00 pm and we were seated finally at 8:30. The soup was luke warm at best but tasty. The remainder of the food and, in the main, the service were of an acceptable standard.

A good choice of items on the menu. Well presented and enjoyable food along with friendly service. There is also a useful loyalty scheme. Smaller dessert and a cup of coffee at a reduced price is also a great idea.

Good service & lovely food. Will be back soon! It's a nice quiet venue for a midweek lunch. I will try either Sunday lunch or evening dinner next time.

Food was excellent. Service was good to start with but once dessert had been served we were ignored to the point that I had to get up and order drinks at the bar and then go and find someone to pay the bill. A request for a portion of chocolate Brownie to take away was acknowledged at first then totally forgotten. The staff eventually had to reopen the kitchen and source the brownie.

Lovely freshly cooked food. Interesting menu, and fresh fish special. Excellent service from efficient and knowledgable waiting staff. Very pleasant ambience and warm welcome appreciated.

Excellent, as always. Highly recommend the Sunday Roast, especially the mixed roast platter to share, which is their ultimate in Sunday Roasts! We have been many times, and are never disappointed.

Pleasant surroundings and service was timely wasn't intrusive. The range of dishes on the menu was good and the presentation and food were to our liking.

As always we are served very good quality food by the friendly staff at Bird in Hand. We normally go for Sunday lunch and the both restaurant and bar always busy.

Great meal and first class service, we all enjoyed our meal and the staff couldn't do enough for you, attentive without being annoying, perfect evening.

Fantastic service. Great atmosphere, very friendly. Great for families. Roast potatoes a bit too earthy though and cauliflower undercooked. Otherwise great meal especially the desserts!!

Paid special attention to my nan as it was her birthday. Brought a candle out in a scoop of ice cream for no charge at all

Sunday lunch was very tasty, well cooked and we'll presented. Good food and good service. Filtered water available at 50p per person unlimited refills. Nice setting as well. Will certainly be back again soon

Bird in Hand is a lovely country pub and restaurant with a relaxing ambience. The food is really nice, the beer is well kept and the staff go out of their way to make sure you feel spoilt. All in all I recommend it!

The bird in hand serves great local produce at a reasonable price whilst providing a friendly and warm atmosphere. The desserts are a must to try

The service was excellent, hence leaving a tip. The food was nothing to write home about, rather bland food. The roast wasn't good, you could tell the roast potatoes had been cooked a while back and re-elected, also signs of the kitchen deep frying them (industry trick). Very disappointed, as was recommended this place.

The restaurant itself is a perfect country pub. The staff are lovely and the food was delicious. I would say it is a little overpriced for what it is but still nice.

Lovely roast spuds - and fab Yorkshire pud, meat, the lamb nice but a bit stringy, beef a bit too pink, but partner ate it all, would go again, it was my second time, but first roast, thanks

The restaurant is always full but never have to wait long to be served. You get lovely home made bread and butter gratis. The food was not quite as good as the usual standard, I had veggie wellington roast and the pastry was a bit on the soft side. However you can guarantee its always really good freshly cooked food, hence a bit of a wait. The service is always very attentive and the servers are polite and friendly. The menu changes regularly sometimes i have found the food better than others but its never bad. As a non meat eater I would like to see more fish dishes.

The food was excellent including vegetarian choice for my elderly mother and service was excellent. Our late arrival by 20 minutes was handled very well

The food was amazing! I had slow cooked pork belly with beetroot purée and my husband had duck breast: we both really enjoyed our meal. We had chocolate brownie for pudding,which was again really nice. The atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely and the service was good. We will definitely go back again.
