Service was not up to usual standard, no-one came near to take our order. We did feel ignored, and it felt like the Manager was on his day off. Customers arrived on the next table with a dog that barked and yelped continuously. They continued to sit at the table and could not pacify the dog. (Note we are dog owners). The noise was unacceptable and no staff member came near. The food was good. Sadly we will not be in a hurry to return.

Great food and friendly service. Always enjoy coming here the pub is charming and the meals excellent in both quality and presentation. Good wines and cask ales too.

Atmospheric, historical restaurant dating back to the 16th century.. Excellent Sunday lunch. Good presentation and very tasty food. Service was really efficient and attentive. Definitely recommend.

The Sunday lunch was very good and the rhubarb cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding went down really well. Staff were very friendly and helpful and managed to fit us onto a larger table when it was very busy.

This was our first visit to The Blackbird and we enjoyed everything about it. The room we were seated in was beautiful, the staff really efficient, friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. We will definitely come again.

Excellent food and good value. Restaurant is quaint and atmospheric but its design does make it a little noisy and echoey. It was quieter in the bar area although there were more people. Would definitely return

We were made to feel very welcome, the atmosphere was great, but it took 40 minutes from placing our order to receiving our food. Other tables were also clearly getting anxious about the wait. The food was delicious but it needs to come out faster.

Unbelievable food and portion sizes. Very nice and tasty. I had steak pie, was delicious, my wife had Asian beef salad, she loved it. Kids both had chicken nuggets and chips, again a good size of portion followed by ice cream. Would recommend

Visiting the Blackbird was a lunch stop en route from our home in the Leeds area to Berwick on Tweed. Having spent some time on business in the Newcastle area, I was aware of Ponteland, and the Blackbird suited our requirements and did not disappoint.

Sadly the food was very average, I have been previously and had a good meal. The starter of croquettes was piping hot and tasty but way too big a portion, the main course of lamb was only lukewarm and the mash tasted like it was out of a packet. I did tell the waitress that my food was only just warm but she just smiled at me. I won’t be hurrying back

Great food, excellent value for money but unfortunately staff let it down. No greeting, please or thank you, asked to be given a minute to decide on dessert, server didn't come back. After 20 minutes settled Bill and left.
