Excellent food, served by a lovely young lady. Venue seeped in history, fantastic building worth a visit just for a taste of history. Would definitely recommend and will definitely go again.

Party of four for a birthday celebration. Free bottle of prosecco helped our decision to visit here again. Service very good and friendly throughout.....food to a good standard and value for money. Will certainly be back soon.....

My first course , prawns, was excellent but my filet steak 'blue' was tough and I struggled to eat half. My dog enjoyed the other half. The chips were too large and cold. I do not think I shall be paying a return visit. One of my guests also complained about her filet steak being tough.

Very nice but asain noodle starter would of preferred soft noodles and the veg with the dinners to he softer

Busy Friday night but slick service and excellent food. Perfect start to our holiday before we fly out of Newcastle in the morning.

Premises were clean, staff were efficient and knowledgeable. Food was good, but a bit too fancy. Lack of simple stuff on the menu. Everything that looked suitable, was paired with something unwanted or unnecessary. A bit on the pricey side too. All okay for celebratory meal but nothing, or very little, for a simple lunch, just passing through, or light bite for our older companion. Music was pleasant, with a welcome local flavour (probably lost on most patrons), not intrusive so noise levels and ambience very pleasant at lunchtime.

Monday is quieter than other days. I entertained family from London. They were impressed with the Blackbird Inn and its historical importance in the village. They were also very impressed with the interior. Service was very good and the food most enjoyable.

My absolute favourite Sunday lunch spot, the nut roast is splendid!

Had a fantastic experience from walking in to walking back out. The service was second to none and nothing was a bother. Even though it was Father’s Day we weren’t rushed. The food was amazing and my roast beef was cooked to perfection. Can’t wait to go back and try the everyday menu.

Busy Saturday evening, food took a long time to arrive but definitely worth wait. Staff friendly and attentive. The only negative was the noise, the acoustics of the ‘dining room’ are terrible, you can’t here the others on your own table but you can hear the full conversation of the people on the table at the other side of the room!

Lovely food as always. Friendly welcoming staff too. If I had to complain about anything service was a little slow but 1.30 Sunday lunch is busy anyway you go!! Worth the wait though.

Lovely lunch with friends. Great choice on the menu with lunchtime specials or sandwiches and toastier or their main menu. Prompt service and food was of a good quality. Dessert really too large for one but a great portion to share.

I’d actually booked the restaurant but we were given a table in the bar. It was actually a lot more pleasant so I was happy with that! The staff very friendly and helpful. Food was very good, only criticism is the meats were slightly dry.

Went for 2nd anniversary meal with my partner. His food was good, however my order was wrong. Tried to eat it to not be a pain but what they brought wasn’t cooked right. I ordered the beef fillet and they brought the fillet steak. I can’t eat steak with the juices coming out as it puts my off and the steak had a lot coming it. Tried to explain to the waitress that it wasn’t what I ordered and she didn’t listen. They just cooked the steak more. At this point my partner had already finished his meal. The guy who brought the food to us was lovely though and when I explained to him it wasn’t what I ordered. He was lovely about it. They took my meal off the bill though so can’t complain too much. Unsure whether I would come back again though.

Excellent meal. We both had the Sunday lunch. Thoroughly enjoyed it. This was our first visit for a meal and it will not be the last 😊
