Sunday lunch was lovely. Beef cooked to our liking and a good selection of vegetables. Will certainly go back for Sunday lunch.

Good food and ambience for Sunday lunch and excellent service.

We had a lovely table and the place was busy with a good atmosphere. However the service was really poor. We ordered mains only and it took about 45 mins from ordering for them to arrive. The staff serving us barely said a word. Not what we’ve come to expect from The Blackbird. We also waited longer than expected for desserts to arrive. The food itself was very average and none of us were particularly impressed. Such a shame as this was for my fathers birthday and we’ve had good experiences previously. Sadly this visit has put us off returning any time soon.

Lovely surroundings, the open fire was most welcome after a chilly walk. The Sunday lunch was very tasty with a nice selection of veg and a very tempting choice of puddings. Will definitely be returning

Downstairs bar very lively, but upstairs restaurant very quiet with some of the character of the original building (castle then manor house) still visible. Lovely food served upstairs accompanied by a fantastic 'bin end' 2015 Pauillac bordeaux. Excellent service. Highly recommended.

Delicious food (not too small portions), friendly and attentive service, beautiful old surroundings (especially upstairs) and comfortable seats... we have thoroughly enjoyed our meal and shall be returning.

Overall really nice time and meal. Only compliant is that the vegetables were hard, but appreciate some people like them that way. Sticky toffee pudding was lush. Nicely decorated for Halloween too.

Lovely setting. We ate in the bar area this time but it was fine, as most people were eating there too. Food was excellent as usual.

I was disappointed that our table was in the bar and not in the restaurant. I had booked on 5 September for meal on 1 October and am sure that those lucky enough to be in the restaurant would have booked after me. Our table was not ready as non diners were sitting at it and waited to be asked before they moved. The bar was very noisy and I felt awkward sitting eating surrounded by drinkers.

The acoustics are poor in the tunnel room but that has to be expected, so always look to sit upstairs. Sunday lunch was ok, the veg really nice. Their best food is evening fare rather than Sunday lunch.

A very pleasant evening but the food was possibly not as good as usual, perhaps that was due to it being very busy. The staff, although helpful, could have been a bit more professional; they attempted to take our wine glasses away without confirming if we wanted wine. However our evening was not affected by these minor things. The atmosphere was excellent, especially foe a Tuesday night. Would still recommend.

Food was good quality. I had the short rib which was a touch over seasoned and we had to ask for a serving spoon for our cauliflower cheese side dish , the sauce for which was a little thin. The bar was very busy so had to wait for our table, we were told to come back in 20 minutes but the barman did not offer to get us a drink so we then had to wait at the very busy bar to get served. Between the 5 of us we spent nearly £200 which was fairly expensive ( that did include all of our drinks for the night) but for that money on reflection the service could have been better. All staff were polite and attentive though once we were seated.

Fantastic food - best I've eaten in ages. Good service in a small and quiet restaurant that serves excellent beer too. Got straight in, no waiting with attentive staff.

The food was very good and so was the service. We ate in the restaurant which was lovely.

Visited for Sunday lunch and we were well satisfied by the meal and the environment. Only slight negative was the background music which just needed turning down a notch or two. Lovely staff and well cooked food with good portions made up for this though. Can definitely recommend!
