We have been to the didsbury venue last summer and loved it. Unfortunately we didn't have a same experience here. All the staff seemed really hung over, the food took a long time to arrive, my drink was forgotten about, the restaurant was really cold. The ladies toilet was an absolute state! Plastic cups everywhere and tissue and litter all over the floor. The food was tasty but we wont be back.

Not enough people know how good this place is. Food was faultless! Wine and drink selection was top notch even if Bourbon sn't your thing. Atmosphere was a bit of a let down as it was pretty quiet but this can only improve as people discover. Well recommended!

The pulled pork I had was very dry, felt like it was missing something, but the mac n cheese was amazing. Took a while to be served our food, though waiting staff were very friendly. Cocktails were very nice.

Food was nice, good ambience. Staff were attentive although they had a tendency to ask you how the food was just as you'd taken a big bite!

Fantastic food, drink, venue and service. One of the best restaurants in Manchester. Second time we've eaten there and it's definitely somewhere we'd go again.

Tasty and very filling food. Nice selection and good quality drinks on offer. Feels more like a bar than a restaurant though, wouldn't recommend if you wanted a quiet meal out - perfect for going out with friends instead.

Excellent food and enthusiastic service. Had a 40% off voucher which made the food a bargain but would have been fair value without. Tap beer very good indeed.

Friendly staff, lovely interior, good food and huge portions. Food took a while to arrive but we were comped a round of drinks to make up for the wait. Rare to get service like that in Manchester restaurants. Would recommend.

As always, Bourbon and Black produced excellent ribs. And the deal for a Woodfords Reserve Bourbon for £1.50 with the Big Wave beer was a pleasant surprise!

Food was lovely; extremely tasty and the server was very friendly, passionate and knowledgable. However not sure the restaurant was ready to open yet really, decor seems half finished (I know it's a rustic look but it felt like the Star Wars cantina), they ran out of the beer we were drinking and there was a feeling something was just missing

We booked this restaurant as they usually have a blues band on, emailed them before to confirm this but no-one replied. Turns out on this particular night there was no band. The food was generally good .. when it eventually arrived after nearly an hour. The veg was really hard and didn't seem cooked on my dish. We then waited over 40 mins for our dessert to arrive but they seemingly they'd forgotten the order so we just paid and left. A bit disappointing overall .. They do a good 'old fashioned' drink however.

Good was lovely couldn't fault it one bit, only thing that I would say was a little negative was the wait time for drinks and also trying to get someone to come and take our drinks orders. If these minor but crucial issues are sorted would definitely be a 6. Have already recommended food to friends

1st visit. Good food and bar service. Beer & Bourbon is a great way to try something new. Pigs in blankets was a winner on the starters. The ribs main was amazingly soft, tasty & tender. Could not be better. Sticky toffee pudding to share a great end to the meal with a nice crunch to the top. Will definately be back. Only negative its a bit cold downstairs

Great food. The menu online has more dishes than in the Manchester branch. It was disappointing that no fish was available when we went but we would definitely go back again.

Great chose of ale. The starters were very good, we had jalapeño poppers and chicken wings. The main course we had burgers, these seemed like they had been cooked earlier in the day and kept warm which was disappointing.

food was slow to come out(40mins), no sides etc with ribeye(£19) and fillet(£25) which was quite expensive just for the steaks.was sick/on toilet straight after the meal.

The service was excellent. Runway disappointed that the menu was different from online. However it is still a great menu. The food it self was a little mixed. The ribs were quite tough, my partner had pulled pork which tasted exactly like the ribs and not really pulled. The jalapeño bread was amazing as we're the jalapeño poppers. I enjoyed it enough buy probably would go back

This is a good venue for a drink alone, the barrels & bottles look works well and the staff are friendly and chatty I find the downstairs restaurant a little cave like, this is not new to Bourbon & Black it was the same when it was Beluga. HOWEVER the quality of the food and the service cannot be faulted. Starters were excellent, steaks cooked exactly as ordered and whilst there is a limited choice of desserts it doesn't really matter with sticky toffee pudding this good

Very good restaurant overall. Fantastic drinks menu if bourbon's your thing. One of the group had fish "on the bone", which was obviously under cooked in the middle, the plate went back to the chef but returned exactly the same to be told we were wrong and it was "meant top be that way"! This is shame as otherwise the evening would have been perfect.

I booked a table for 4 people to dine and 3 of us arrived together about 15 mins early. This was no trouble for them and we were greeted warmly and seated while we waited for the 4th guest to turn up. We got drinks then ordered our starters and mains. I had pigs in blankets to start which were absolutely delicious. One of my other companions had the same while the two others had 2 different types of chicken wings. I had a cheeky sample of theirs whilst sharing a 'pig' with them and we all really enjoyed our own and each others. For our mains we all got the 'howling wolf' burger. They don't come with fries so you have to pay extra for a portion of you want some. I really enjoyed them as not many places do fries that taste like that. We were pretty full after that so didn't manage a dessert but all agreed that we would definitely come back. The service was great, attentive but not too in your face and we left feeling happy and well looked after.

A few teething problems throughout the evening. The service on arrival was prompt and very friendly. The waiting on staff were enthusiastic but clearly weren't fully concentrating as we were offered two meals that weren't ours, had a side dish that we didn't order and the wine I received was corked. Food was average, for slow cooked food I expected bigger flavours but everything was a bit bland unfortunately. Glad we had an offer for money off the food but won't be rushing back as better alternatives across Manchester.

I'll start with the negatives to get them out the way- the building is very cold, I heard another table complain about this too but they were advised that nothing could be done and the heating was on full. The olives were also cheap and in brine, I could get better quality in a supermarket. Because of these things I was dreading my main course and though this was a bad choice of restaurant especially as a birthday surprise for my boyfriend, however when our main arrived the Tomahawk steak was beautifully presented and was cooked perfectly. I think the grill they have there makes this special and it was nicer than the steak we had had at Hawksmoor previously. The steak could've fed 3 so I'm glad I didn't order a starter. The waitress also recommended the honey glazed carrot which I though would be a bit sickly with a fatty cut of meat but we ordered them on her recommendation. She was right they were really good- they tasted like worstershire sauce and helped but through the fatty meat. I heard the same table who complained about the temperature also complain about the carrots and I can understand his point they weren't hot and they are a misleading on the menu as you'd think they'd taste sweet. The waitress we had was really friendly and they had a live band on upstairs and you could hear them in the restaurant so we went up there to watch them after our meal.

Really great food, staff were lovely and quick to get us to our table, while never making us feel rushed on a busy Saturday night. Definitely one for returning to!
