The service was slow. The card payment device wasn't working. The cuts of meat and fish were not the best. However, the atmosphere was nice and the waiters were pleasant.

This was the worsy experience i have ever had at this restaurant, to which i have been multiple time. So were do i begin, at the start we where sat at a table which had not been set, we ordered our meals and drinks to which 45 minutes late the starter arrived but no drinks, the starters were freezing cold and where sent back, we had to ask 3 different waiters and then the manager kevin for our drinks which two turned up and had to wait for another 15 minites for our bottle of wine . The starts then came around 2130 even though we arrived at 2000 the new starts were quickly eaten as we where starving and mains quickly cane afterwards , to which they were sent back the steak was stone cold and the mixed combo was freezing to the touch manager kevin was informed and took them away to be remade which cause one of us to eat on their own the new meals returned after the rest finished. To too it off the waitress that took our order returned 2 hours and 20 minutes later to ask if everything was ok to which we asked for the bill , the service tonight was appalling and the food was no wear near the value of £134. Which is what the meal cost.

A disappointing dinner. Booked to celebrate a special occasion, but service, food and atmosphere fell short. Might as well have gone to all bar one or another local bar/pub where at least I would have got and paid for what I was expecting. Not so for BVS hence the low rating. Feel duped by a restaurant boasting of its ratings yes unable to deliver on quality.

I like the food - but slow service seems to happen often here, which is a great shame. Even when the restaurant isn’t too busy.

The service was unfortunately slow and the waitress appeared disinterested. The food was poor and for what we had overpriced. A far from enjoyable experience.

Been coming here for years. Tonight was he worst service to date. No one was greeting by the entrance. I literally waited at the bar for 10 minutes waiting to be served. I would have left if my friend hadn’t already arrived and been served. We waited at least 10 minutes to order, and later had to ask where our wine was! The food and the wine were good to excellent (they do perfect frites), but the service was just embarrassingly bad. The barman has said they were busy, but there were only about 5 or 6 tables, and plenty of staff loitering doing nothing. This isn’t the first time I’ve had bad service at Vacherin, but it is the last time I’ll be going.

We waited for several minutes to be acknowledged and seated when we arrived. There was no-one front of house. We were then given menus and abandoned. Eventually we left as there was no-one who took any interest in us.

Staff did very well to hold it together after a massive faux pas from the manager/owner who changed the rotas last minute. Worst time iv been here but will be back.

The wine was nice but I thought the bread was too dry and should have been soft with the pate. The main course confused me as I thought I would get a chicken meal with ceasar dressing and not ceasar salad with a large amount of grilled chicken. The desert was very tasty.

The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. The host/ owner is very friendly, he makes you feel welcome and the quality of the food is really good I would definitely come back here and recccomend it to friends.

We loved the food, good French brasserie quality, it was reasonable value but sadly a poor service - one of the waiters kept forgetting us.

To be honest, I would give it minus marks if that facility were available. I have given this restaurant excellent reviews in the recent past, but something has obviously gone very seriously wrong since spring this year. The service was inattentive, inconsistent and the junior members of staff had only minimal training - one of them didn’t even know how to serve wine! They had to be chased several times and there was loud, discordant music in the background. We were extremely disappointed as we have enjoyed this restaurant so much over a number of years. Worst of all, there was no senior manager in charge to whom we could address our concerns. We hope the owner will read this and that Brasserie Vacherin Sutton can be restored to its former high standard.

Arrived in time for our reservation and were seated and given menus but then entirely ignored by the serving staff for over 20 mins. Not offered a drink, no bread, nothing. So we left - and no-one even spoke to us as we left. Felt sorry for the table next to us who were served half their mains and sides but left one person with no food and another with no cutlery.

The food was very good as was the wine. The fly in the ointment, so to speak, was the fact that the waitress did not know the menu to well, we were originally overcharged by £20 and it took some explaining before we received the correct bill. I would go there again but would check the bill very carefully.

Went along to the Summer BBQ at Brasserie Vacherin with a glass of prosecco and unlimited bbq. Had a great time in the outdoor garden with a live dj and food on tap. Jerk chicken, ribs, burgers and fish skewers were all on the menu served with fresh salad. Will definitely go to the next one!

Needs to decide whether it’s a restaurant or pub! Food was good however service from staff is very poor! Seemed to be focussing on those who are in the garden at the back rather than the diners!

Lunch time meal with fellow adult French languages students. Generally regarded as a French food restaurant but would say the fixed menu was not over adventurous with typical French dishes. The steak I had was cooked to perfection. The petit chocolate pot was just the right sized to have after. The staff were attentive, polite & pleasant although not French. Two disappointments for me was that having to pay extra for a vegetable & sauce to go with the meal and the ‘discretionary service charge’ of 12.5%. If doing a fixed menu why not include a vegetable in the price (you could disregard the sprig of rocket added to the plate). Clearly discretionary service charge is the new con of the restaurant trade because if this was added to the price on the food this would probably put customers off from coming in. Discretionary would imply voluntary payment but of course customers get embarrassed to challenge this so they pay. If like me this inclines me not to leave the waiting staff any gratuity so they become the losers to this. Other than my 2 disappointments the food and service was good. The group I came with enjoyed themselves. Would I come again? I probably would.

This restaurant is the best in Sutton. Service is courteous and attentive and there is a wide-ranging, French based menu with a good choice of wine. It is a pleasure to dine there on special occasions such as Christmas and birthdays.

The food was ok, but nothing special given the price. However the service was terrible. It took us 30 minutes to order a drink, and then even longer to order food. Would not go back.

Totally unexpected to find a bistro in Sutton- larger than expected with a large dining area a two the back and lovely food and a good value price fixe menu. Service was a little slow but a great way to spend a grey Sunday afternoon. Very good Moules starter and delicious cinnamon French toast.

Food was good but service all over the place or even farcical I felt like in a surreal world at times. Waitresses definitely need more training. If you want a drink before your food arrives I suggest you don’t order food at the same time. Even then you might not get what you ordered. Only good thing they didn’t charge us for missing items. French food yes-ish (most of it is after a fashion) but French service nope 👎🏻. Wanted to try it now I did. Don’t think I will be back.

Good food and service in pleasant surroundings. The lamb shank was well cooked. The brioche bread and butter pudding was really tasty. The house white wine was reasonably priced.

AWFUL FOR BREAKFAST!! Surprised how bad the food and service were. Have had lunch and dinner at both Sutton and Croydon branches many times and always fine but the breakfast was awful and the manager even left my wife and mother upset on mother's day. Food took over half an hour but we were not in a rush so not a problem. Sat next to the kitchen so were disappointed to see the dishes served to us were the same ones that had been under the lamp with moat of the components for 25 mins. No obvious reason why as there were only two tables being used in the restaurant. However we were happy to have the food and keen that our mothers day breakfast treat would work out, however every part of the order wa inedible, the full English was the worst I have ever seen and I have spent a week inclusive at Butlins. Gobsmacked that a restaurant could possibly serve a breakfast so bad let alone one like Brasserie Vascherin. The waitress offered a fresh hot coffee because food the took so long which my mother didn't even want but accepted as she was pushed, then the manager stormed over to ask why we felt we were due a new coffee and was so rude my wife was visibly upset. Sadly we will not be back. So so disappointed.

Absolutely appalling service, such a shame as the food (when they eventually got it right) was lovely! 2 waitresses didn’t have a clue what they were doing and a manager who was rude and didn’t seem to care! Birthday lunch ruined!

Even accounting for the cold weather the Brasserie temperature was unacceptably cold, heaters were inefficient with one sending out gusts of cold air! We kept coats on but feet still cold. Starters and Main courses were delicious and of a high standard. The crepe suzette was inedible, the pancake was cold and tough - had it been pre frozen? - and the sauce glutinous with little flavour. I would have expected it to be prepared at the table. The prices were acceptable but the service was slow. I am doubtful if I will return even in warm weather.
