Food is amazing, beautiful buffet with so much choice, grill area with freshly cooked to order, hot waffles with ice cream and fruit, just lovely. Staff are brilliant and very attentive. I give it a big thumbs up and will visit again soon.

Service at China Red is always great. They have a really large selection of food and it is well prepares and fresh. Refillable drinks are a bonus as well!

Although initially disappointed not to see the conveyor belt still in operation, we found the food excellent, probably better than our last visit. The range of dishes was great, something for everyone. The staff friendly and helpful, ordered us a taxi too. The house white was superb. Would thoroughly recommend China Red to friends and family.

Food was lovely staff friendly but they never come and ask would you like another drink and also whip your plates away I was still eating had to put chicken bone on the table and sat there till we left

The China Red was full, but we were seated very quickly and well looked after by Peter our host. Food was tasty and hot. Staff was very observant in clearing our table throughout the evening.

Great food but the selection is not as wide as what was detailed on the website. Would still deffo recommend it to friends and family.

Myself and my family had a lovely time in China Red on Friday night, it was our first time eating buffet style food, and we all love it. Staff were friendly and all helpful. We will certainly be going back and I will recommend it to friends.

Not too busy so good for getting to every food station. Pricey on Fridays and Saturdays so avoid going on these days. The plates could've been cleared away faster. The waffle guy seems very nice loves his job. Would revisit just cause he was so happy

We had a lovely meal for our daughters birthday - food was very good and service attentive when needed - we'll definitely be going back!

Good selection of food but most of what was meant to be ‘hot food ‘ was almost like warm . The temperature a baby would have. Did ask a member of staff why and he said oh yeah foods rotated every 15 mins . Meaning if you want to go up and wait for 15 mins I will get hot pizza !! I did and also had a hot dog and they were both cold .

Food, staff excellent, but sesame chicken drumsticks were quite raw inside. They were removed when pointed out. Tried later but still pink inside. Be aware.!

The best Chinese buffet in town by a mile (together with the China Red next to Usher Hall). Great staff happy to help, great selection of the food - replenished timely so you have it always fresh!!!!! Steaks by grill chef done to perfection!!!!

Everything was brilliant, the food, the service, the selection... Even as we complained about the price ( wrong on website and outside the door), we got back the difference. A shame it's not a running sushi any more, but the buffet is also really good.

The new layout is lovely, even though I liked the conveyor belts! The food has improved a lot though, plenty of choice, everything was fresh, was fantastic. Still not really taking card payments even though there was a big thing on their Facebook page about it. Theyve got the machine but apparently can't get a signal. Cash machine at Asda which is just round the corner so it was fine

Fantastic range of meal options, with a wide variety of Asian dishes and very reasonably prices. Drinks were also reasonable and service was excellent. I will be back.

Done away with novelty of food carousel, but the buffet food was lovely, and unusually for a Chinese buffet, the desserts were also great. Egg Boy all the way. Fab!!

Excellent food. Drinks menu was good but limited in some areas. Definitely will visit again. We all especially liked the service where the staff were very present yet standing far enough off. If you needed staff for any reason they were quick and effective even if it was just clearing plates so we could get more food. I usually don't do buffets as I feel worried I'd look like return too many times for food, but there's no such feeling here. I like to just take small pieces of a few items to find my favourites that night. Great place.

Don’t allow customers to book for a certain time via your site then when they turn up at the allotted time explain you are closed. Utterly shambolic!

Great food and amazing staff! What more would you want? Staff were very friendly and helpful and is probably the best Chinese food in Edinburgh by far!

Really disappointed that they have done away with the unique conveyor belt system and reverted to the same set up as any other buffet. Some of the best dishes were no longer available and what was on offer was starting to congeal due to it being so quiet. The conveyor belt system was the biggest selling point due to not having to leave the table or interrupt your conversation. The smaller portions also meant fresher dishes. The pizza on offer was clearly a cheap variety from Asda next door. All in all bitterly disappointing and sad to say we won’t be back. Although a return to the previous format and we’ll be the first ones in line.

Tasty food served in a unique way. Very sociable experience. Friendly staff. Very reasonable price for good quality food. Desserts are limited and not as good quality and heating within restaurant could be warmer.

Food is terrible. They no longer have the food on conveyer belts but they do not say this on their website. Also says they have Thai food too but it is just chinese. Some of the food makes you feel sick and my partner and I both had very sore stomachs afterwards.

Very disappointing. The removal of the conveyor belt is a big mistake. The restaurant is now just like any other buffet except that the standard of food has dropped considerably. There are two people cooking certain items to order but the best you could say about the rest of the food is that it was ordinary, nothing special. There was also less choice than before.

Food is great. The environment is fine. Drinks are quite expensive. It would be better if they could replace the seats to a taller one.

The restaurant wasn’t even open for our visit. It was under renovation and we drove 20 miles to get there and weren’t warned before we went!

Great atmosphere, brilliant food, attentive and excellent staff all in all a great experience. 10 people there for my wife's birthday and everyone enjoyed it very happy indeed.

8 of us arrived at 5pm for an early meal as we had children with us. The food was lukewarm and we were offered a cooked dish from the kitchen, this was fine but not really the point of a buffet. By the time it was cooked and we were served it was after 6pm and the dishes on the buffet were just beginning to be edible. We did take a few dishes from the buffet which were very nice but the experience has put me off China Red. Wont be back.

Certain products not on wheel and had to ask for them as explained and did arrive fresh but button to call staff not working. Don't take credit card either. Good value for money

A few in our party weren't entirely convinced about buffet-style Asian food but ended up all being pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. Great service and really enjoyed the conveyor belt-buffet experience.

Overall food was tasty and staff prompt and polite. Only fault was our seat was right on a corner so couldn’t see what food was coming up until it was nearly past.

Food always warm and plenty of it. Never seems to fail us! Only one thing some dishes are a bit bland and could be doing with a bit more flavour but overall lovely!

Nice variety of foods. Chocolate fountain and ice cream a big hit with the children (young and old!). Staff very efficient and polite. Can highly recommend a visit.

The food was net hot coming off the conveyor with not a lot of dishes being offered. Told the waiter about this when we had to specificaly order fried rice for the table, he appeared un interested.
