The Corner Grill House

After doing my homework on trip advisor I’m so pleased we decided to book this restaurant. The host was the owner as the usual front of house waitress was on holiday and we found him very friendly and chatty but not overbearing. The food was excellent we both had the same meal which was the garlic prawn starter, steak and sticky toffee pudding, all of which were straight out of the top drawer. The steak was perfectly cooked to medium, the chips were homemade and delicious, the mushrooms beautiful too. I noted that the couple next to me stated that the Panna cotta was the best they had ever tasted including Michelin starred restaurants they had eaten in. The host invited us to his masterclass in Malton on weekend of December 7-8th and we will go and see him there. Overall I could not fault any aspect of the experience and for a total bill of £70 with a bottle of very decent red to boot I felt a bit like Dick Turpin!!

The starters were good and the service and wine were great. Unfortunately the lamb was chewy and inedible and a great disappointment. Amends were made.

From the moment we arrived we experienced excellent service. I am very happy we had a reservation as it’s the type of restaurant you walk past and know you want to eat there. I couldn’t fault the overall experience, it was fantastic. I would love to dine there a second time and was unable to as we only had an overnight stay in York.

Wow! First time visit tonight during a weekend in York. Karen, my wife, isn't particularly a steak lover. I am, so for purely selfish reasons I booked The Corner Grill House online a week prior to our visit after reading some excellent reviews. The ribeye steak is to die for, cooked to absolute perfection, as were the two sides you can select. In my case, creamy mash potatoes and creamed leeks! Lush! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant! 10/10!

Such a cosy little hidden gem. Glad I booked in advance. A lovely meal for myself, my Mum and my student daughter and friend. Such delightful service, made us feel at home. Definitely recommend, definitely will be back when next I visit York.

My boyfriend and I went for a special occasion and the food was delicious and the service even better! Our waitress was so lovely and the food incredibly prompt. I highly reccomend this great little restaurant!

Amazing restaurant with the best food. There are only 6 -8 tables dependant on layout so the waiting staff are able to be very attentive. The food is amazing, it’s is all fresh and all set a t a very reasonable price. I would recommend this to anyone visiting York
