Normally go to Cote in Wokingham, this was the first time we tried Basingstoke. It was good but missed the ambiance the Wokingham branch has. It was noisy. The food was very good overall, the pork belly was excellent.

Food generally nice, but some issues: Haddock special overcooked and dry, minute steak was tough and caramelised sugar on top of tarte au citron was burnt and so very bitter. Basingstoke restaurant is very loud - need some soft furniture perhaps to soak up the sound. Time from finishing meal to being able to pay the bill was 25 minutes - so we left feeling a bit fed up.

Cote is a restaurant a more upmarket than the usual establishment in Basingstoke. We had most enjoyable visit and not rushed. Keep the standard up. We will be back.

I visited in February for dinner and March for breakfast both were great and I would highly recommend. I would advise booking in advance as it’s normally busy. I booked via the website which was quick and easy.

I don’t think the meal was as good as the prices led me to expect- overpriced. Dirty fork on the table and used mussel shells on the floor which I stepped on. Wouldn’t go back

Third visit and received the same high standard of service and delicious food. One thing that I think differentiates Côte Brasserie from other restaurants I have visited are the portion sizes are just right. I can enjoy three courses and not feel I have over eaten or not managed to clear my plate at the end.

My meal was enjoyable and service excellent as always. I had the onion soup which is always delicious, followed by the salade nicoise. The tuna was cooked to perfection.

Good service, food was OK but not quite up to the usual standard and the Valentine's Day menu was probably a little overpriced given the average quality of the food. Nonetheless we enjoyed a pleasant evening.

We are rating this through the lens of eating in many rather rarefied restaurants internationally. As a newly opened local restaurant, convenient for the theatre etc, it is a very significant improvement on the other establishments and we hope it will thrive. Good value, well prepared food, attentive and helpful staff (contrary to some other reviews) all make for a quality stress free experience albeit don;t forget this is a chain restaurant. That said, the menu is creative - think River Cottage style (not the same absolute quality) however the wine list is somewhat erratic and could be improved without much effort - particularly the "by glass" choices. Minor minus points - the round tables really are slightly too small. It should not be necessary to order bread as a side with a bowl of mussels. The pre 7pm "theatre" menu is very good value.

We loved the food, service and ambiance! However, the music was too loud and lack of a bar to have a drink before and after the meal was missed!

Last visit staff could not do enough for me and my children - not so much this time, could be as were very busy but honestly took the shine off us going. We were so looking forward to it as finally a nice place for brunch on Basingstoke. Hopefully an improved service next time

Too noisy. Like most restaurants who follow the current fashion if no body furnishings. It means there's nothing to muffle the noise. It's a shame as the food and service was excellent, as usual.

The food was very nice, but it was the service that made the meal special. We were offered bloody orange martinis to start. A very interesting first start. But when it came to ordering a bottle of wine, our server offered us some suggestions and then some samples. He was professional, knowledgeable and very personable. We shared two very nice starters before Lamb and duck breast mains. The food was very tasty and well presented. We had told our server that we wanted a leisurely dinner and we were never rushed. We will go back.

This was the second time we had been there. The first time we sent back one dish as it was only just warm. This time we were overcharged by just over £5. The bill was amended. Both these things as a customer are embarrassing to have to deal with.

When we arrived for brunch we were sat by the door. It was freezing outside pre 10.45 and every time someone came in the door was left wide open. My Husband had to get up at least 3 times from the table to close the external door as we were getting really cold. The door should be an autoclose door or the staff should have kept an eye on this. I ordered the vegetarian breakfast and the sausage was completely burnt on one side except I didnt realise until I started to eat the breakfast as the sausage had been placed burnt side down to hide it. It was dry and horrible. The waiter forgot our fruit juices (ordered with the Formulae Breakfast) and had to be reminded. We have been coming to Cote for many years, and this was our first trip to Basingstoke and we will not be coming back. Such a shame as we had taken my Mum out for Brunch. Just to add - we were not walk ins and the restaurant was not at all busy (we had booked a table and time online). We were not too impressed to have a 12.5% tip added to the bill. We were going to raise it with the staff as we had not had a good experience but it took ages to get the bill and we didn't have enough time to faff with a complaint and amending the bill so we ended up paying the tip and leaving. Perhaps when customers have had to mention so many negsative points during one meal, the staff should think twice before adding the tip to the bill- let the customer decide whether they want to tip the service received.

The evening started well. A free glass of bubbles for the birthday girl thanks. That was the only positive. Service was very slow considering it was a quiet Monday night. Took a while to take the food order. Food came out in good time. Fillet steak looked rather small. 2 of the guest are gluten free so we asked for seafood linguini but with risotto instead of the pasta. No problem great I thought! Risotto rice was very over cooked to the point you couldn't recognise the grains of rice. Took a while before mains were cleared. Dessert was dealt with in a timely manner but after dessert was served it was like we were forgotten. I noticed the supervisor going for a break with a cup of tea. Our empty dessert plates must have sat for 20 minutes until we had to wave to get attention to get the bill. The bill was wrong with extras that we didn't have like olives. Now she needed to change the bill which meant a longer wait because the supervisor wasn't anywhere to be seen. Finally the bill came back. Your 12.5% optional service charge is added to the bill already so not really optional unless you know to ask to have it removed. This for me is wrong unless large groups. I paid with the service charge only because I had lost the will to live by now. We left with dirty desert plates still on the table it was neither late of busy. When we got to the car one of the girls couldn't find her phone. Yes she left it in the restaurant so back she came to get it. Amazingly it was still there on the table along with all the dirty dessert plates but no staff even noticed that they had re-entered into the restaurant to collect anything. So for almost £150.00 for 4 people I would not call it value for money or good service. Kind of spoilt the birthday mood as we left feeling a little disappointed. Thanks. Graham.

I visited Côte for the first time with friends over the Easter weekend. It was difficult to choose from the menu as there are plenty of delicious dishes to choose from. When the food arrived we weren’t disappointed. Just delicious and well worth the money. The service was good overall and my only complaint would be that we had to prompt for the desert menu and bill. I will definitely be back as cannot wait to try some of the other dishes on the menu and introduce to other friends and family.

Absolutely flawless. The whole customer experience was brilliant. Reserved online, quick and easy. It was a birthday so entered into the comments that it was a birthday etc. When we walked in we were greeted by friendly staff and asked our reservation name and the first thing the host said was happy birthday! Following that almost every member of staff wished the birthday girl a happy birthday and we each got a complimentary drink. Food was perfect, service was top notch, the whole experience was some of the best service I think I have ever had. I can not remember our waiters' name, but he was ultra attentive and super polite. As someone who works in marketing/customer experience, I am acutely aware of these things, and I must say this is the best end to end experience I have had on the 'high street' in a very long time. Bravo Cote Brasserie, best dinner out in Basingstoke and a huge thanks for a very special birthday evening.
