Côte Basingstoke

My daughter gave us a gift voucher for £30 for Christmas. My wife and I had two breakfasts which amounted to £21 in total. We were told at the end of the meal that if we used the voucher we would lose £9 in value as your company does not give any change when vouchers are used. We therefore had to pay using other means. Fortunately we had other means to pay otherwise we would have had to "throw away" the £9. My daughter knew nothing about using the whole value of the voucher in one visit and we feel that this should be emphasised before anyone pays for a voucher on-line. Hence only five stars.

We have been many times and the service is always of a high standard. I have marked down one star as I believe that the food was a little cooler than it should be and may have been waiting for delivery to the table.

I have dined at various Cote restaurants over many years. This was the 3rd occasion within a month and there is an obvious decline in standards across the group. Oon this occasion our aperitif arrived after our starter. The new recipe for Tartare sauce is more like Horseradish sauce. The staff are only too pleased to correct an error but the errors are occurring too often and are sometimes quite basic. On a recent visit the Dessert Menu was very sticky and obviously so. We had to ask for replacements. It will be some time before we dine at cote again.

Food was cooked perfectly! Wait times weren't too long. Had a different waiter for each course, so was hard to determine who our server actually was, could have been forgotten about.

Good atmosphere and busy. Waiting staff were friendly. We were unfortunately overcharged for a bottle of wine we didn’t have, but when I went back to the restaurant the next day to explain, it was sorted out straight away. Very happy with the service.

Parts of the breakfast were left behind. Poached eggs clearly made ahead as were served cold. Not up to usual standards.

Great experience overall, We had a dinner for 2 on new year's eve (31-12-2019) with table booked online. Online Booking was easy and straight forward. The staff was amazingly good: waiting time was only few seconds just the time to find our reservation. Staff welcomed us with smile and politeness. Very helpful on our requests (e.g advice Gluten free meals , whine selection). The new year's eve menu was fantastic with many options and really good price. Food was cooked and prepared perfectly. From the enthusiastic welcome through the friendly service to the accommodation of our “split shift” meal everything was excellent. our Italian waitress should be highly commended.

Overall it was very nice, as always. However, there was some "confusion" over whether you had gluten free options available as, despite what your website had indicated, we were told that there wasn't, just the set menu that we knew about. I had made specific reference to my wife's gluten intolerance when I booked on line and it looked very much like we wouldn't be staying if there was nothing available that was gluten free. However, after some back and forth by your staff we got the reassurance that gluten free options from the set menu were available and my wife had a good choice of courses apart from dessert that is. One suggestion is that the staff should be made more aware of dietary needs and Cote should also be sure that what is put on your website clearly transfers down to the actual restaurant. Your feedback on my comments would be appreciated. Thank you, Keith Wilcox

Noisy radio, food expensive as opposed to Toby or Beefeater, food also not as good as Toby or beefeater for example. As for the 12.5% "optional service charge, thats a no no, plus the waitress did not understand the word optional ! so I explained and she did not seem too happy.

We visited Cote Basingstoke for an early evening dinner on my birthday in December. The restaurant is decorated and lit in a simple but elegant brasserie style, as befits its French origins (?) The waiter was helpful in guiding us to a good table he had picked. The food, as always at Cote, was of a high quality. Steak nicely pink and chips crispy and dry. The red wine was delicious and I enjoyed my dessert too. We will continue to use Cote restaurants as we appreciate their high standards.

We have eaten at Cote several times and the warm welcome and excellent value and tasty food has never varied.

Excellent value for money - we had the 2 courses for £11.50 (?) which was just right for a pre cinema deal.

Lovely post Christmas lunch. Had 2 course lunch for £15.95 great value although had to order green beans as a side as main didn’t come with any veg

The staff at cote basingstoke were absolutely amazing this evening. The food was cooked to perfection. We were celebrating my birthday and the staff delivered a happy birthday cake to our table unprompted by us. A lovely evening.

First class evening out. Nice Christmas menu and looked after well by our waiters David & Benny. One of the main courses was not up to scratch and had to be replaced but did not spoil the evening. Overall a good night out and good value for money. Will be back again.

Love Cote and the Basingstoke branch is the best! Lovely staff, great service and the food is never less than fabulous! Our Christmas visit was no exception!

Can honestly say that was the most delicious meal I've had in ages. The duck a l'orange was out of this world. Creme brulee gorgeous too. Whole meal was great. Lovely friendly ambience and staff very helpful. A super start to Christmas. Thank you everyone.
