Lovely to be back again, to a warm welcome. Staff were all masked and all regulations were observed. Service was good, but we were not rushed and the free cocktail was much appreciated. The restaurant was clean and tables were well spaced and the atmosphere was good, although on this occasion there were not many diners.
We've been here a fair few times now and keep going back as it's one of our favourite places. The food is always delicious, the wine is to die for and the service is always brilliant. The staff are friendly and measures have been taken to ensure everyone stays safe.
The service was excellent. I've always found the staff really friendly and helpful and today was no exception. The food appeared on time and was piping hot. My double espresso at the end of the meal was perfect and again just the right temperature. My first course onion soup was really tasty (a little difficult to deal with the bread and cheese in the middle because it was difficult to catch) and so was the fish parmentier. Only two small niggles: with so few customers the atmosphere was quite empty, but that's no one's fault and it didn't detract from the quality of the meal. The tomatoes I had on the side were OK but I'm used to Jack Hawkins and these today didn't seem to taste as good as those, but they were well presented and nicely accompanied by shallot and basil.
We have had a lovely meal made all the more pleasurable by excellent friendly staff in particular Angela who was our waitress
We thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The staff we pleasant and very welcoming. The food as always was divine, and the complimentary martini very refreshing
Really great dining experience in an incredible setting, highly recommend
Brilliant! A friendly welcome and excellent service of super food and drink. So glad Cote is back! We shall return.
Attentive, speedy service with great quality food and good value for money
So good to be back.... Smaller menu but still the same excellent quality... Thankyou
Great food, great wine and excellent service. Have dined here before and will be dining again.
Brilliant experience. First visit. Staff very attentive. Food amazing. Lovely atmosphere. Could not be better xxxx
It was fabulous to be back. It felt very safe & the food was delicious 😋 THANK YOU SO MUCH
It was lovely to be back and the rhubarb martini was absolutely delicious!
We had an amazing lunch today. The food was lovely and waiter was very knowledgable and attentive. We can’t wait to come back.
So glad that you're back. Thank you for a great atmosphere, lovely food and professional reassuring team.
Thank goodness your back! Food, drink and service were excellent as per usual. Thank you, we'll be back soon.
We came for the Valentine's Day special menu. There was an excellent choice of all three courses on offer and, as usual, the quality of the food we were served was really good. Friendly staff, good ambience, good food, good value - can't ask for more!
Thoroughly enjoyed a late Saturday afternoon lunch in the Mail Box. My own comprehensive gluten free menu so no need to pick out the good bits from a standard menu and be left with the usual salad! 😋 We were waited on by Matt who was just the best from the moment we were seated till we left. He was attentive, informative, charming and funny. We will definitely be returning! Thank you for a great afternoon.
Really nice pre-theatre meal Excellent value for money as we had the 2 course lunch menu which has plenty to choose from. Staff were all friendly and the service was good. Beautiful surroundings on a sunny evening really love the living wall in the outside eating area.
Good service, nice and quick. Starters - calamari and shredded pork. Very tasty and he perfect quantity. Mains - My partner ordered the chargrilled chicken and found it very bland. I ordered the rib eye steak, medium rare. Very tasty, however mine was rare.
We came as a group of mums of all ages for a late mother’s day lunch. There was a lovely choice of food. We had the prestige menu. The service was great and the price very reasonable. We will definitely come again
Excellent food and service as always. We love this restaurant, the atmosphere is relaxed yet the staff are exceptionally professional. With the best moules marinière and Breton fish stew in the UK, this is a great taste of France in Birmingham!
Service is just awesome. Waiters are very professional food awesome
Overall it was a very pleasant meal. I enjoyed the free cocktail French 75 - an interesting mix of flavours. I was a little disappointed that the veal steak was not available, but it's something I might try next time. I was impressed that the waitress, when I asked why it was called 'rose' in the "grilled rose veal t-bone steak" meant was able to come back and tell me. The mussels as a starter were just the right quantity (I thought there may have been too many) and I love the cream sauce that goes with them. The duck in the main course (a generous helping) was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of potato to go with it. It needed some vegetable accompaniment and I chose (perhaps unusually) the tomato because peas seem a little banal and I haven't enjoyed the beans much in the past. The spinach would have been another possibility. There were not that many diners in the restaurant so there was a slight lack of atmosphere, but it was a miserable day outside and that had probably kept people away.
Wonderful service, waiters are always brilliant. I don’t catch the gentleman’s name but he was a fantastic waiter, very very nice. Food lovely, lot sold out but always the case on Mother’s Day.
Celebrated my Birthday with my friends each one commented how good the food and service was . We all had an excellent time which was made extra special by the staff. Thank you.
Staff are always intentive and polite, you could as enough of them. The food is always magnificent, very tasty and there is a large choice of amazing dishes (I would recommend the Poulet Grillé). Definitely will be returning for a third time.
This birthday visit to Birmingham for my husband was very successful. We were allocated a window table (55) which was excellent. Another point we would like to mention is the exceptional service provided by a young Lithuanian waiter who looked after us very well. The complimentary gin cocktails also provided a memorable start to the meal! Delia Haxworth
very attentive staff.excellent food we had the 3 courses great value.would defo come back this was our second visit.always a great choice too. we had a great night thankyou.
Everything and everyone was fabulous. The food and service were faultless. Thank you. We can’t wait to come again. And Matthew the Manager was exceptionally friendly and gave a great personal and attentive service and knew just the right way to be friendly but professional. It was a great night.
Excellent food and great service in a great Mailbox location
Perfect food, drinks and staff! Only negative would be the starter always arrives too quickly, before you have finished the hors dourve, slow down a bit please.
Lovely meal, in a nice setting by the canal Very impressed with the gluten free menu and provision here Loads of choice so there is something for everyone
Had a lovely lunch today to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Food and freebie wine were excellent, dessert was lovely too. Good that they change the menu each month. Will certainly be going again soon!
Slight issue with confusion over meals ordered as there were two very similarly named -rump of lamb and lamb rump. We got the one not ordered but when we realised this was dealt with efficiently and to our satisfaction.
We had booked and had our choice of table. The winter cocktail was delicious 😋 and started the meal well. Bread and olives followed by chicken for one of us and spinach and mushroom pancakes with a lovely tomato salad was just right. Cote Birmingham is a great place to meet and eat.
Service was excellent and felt well catered even with our young 18 months son (we weren't shuffled into a corner to be forgotten.) Only criticism is that the side carrots were a still rock hard, but they were removed from our bill, so all is well.
As usual the food was great and the portions very good. A pity, then, that the service did not match. One waitress spent 20 minutes chatting to customers in Spanish while her colleagues dealt with a busy Saturday night clientele. When we asked for our bill the waiter made a joke about his name being Tom and then seemed to forget what we had asked. Ten minutes later we asked another waiter who responded immediately. I have to say, too, that I strongly object to a 12.5% "discretional service charge" being included on the bill; it is up to me to make this decision. Furthermore, if I am to reward service, I want to make sure that all my money goes to the member of staff who has provided that service.
Orderd the Pork for my main, Not much flavour and the pork was over cooked. My starter and dessert was okay. Service was not the best waited along time for the table to be cleared in between courses, and for the bill especially when the restaurant was quiet and plenty of staff on duty.
This was our first visit to Côte Brasserie but we certainly hope that is not our last after spending a lovely couple of hours enjoying great service and wonderful food. My wife & I enjoyed every moment & every mouthful. Even the carrots served as a side dish were perfect, offering a freshness & sweetness of flavour that is uncommen in such chain restaurants. Delightful! I guess then, that my rating of their place in Birmingham may seem like over the top hyperbole to some but we felt it was a brilliant example of just how good such places as this could and should be.
