Côte Canterbury

We dined for a pre theatre meal and booked Cote as we have eaten in many of them before. The service was fantastic from start to finish. Lovely meals and good attention to allergens. Probably the best Cote we have been to.

we are regular visitors Cote and have over the years really enjoyed our meals but the dining experience is not what it used to be. The food on this occasion was not up to standard, my breaded zucchini was stodgy not not cooked through. The calamari was on the other hand over cooked and many bits touch and not edible. The main courses were overcooked dauphinoise so crispy was the top layer that it made the rest of the potato dry. The sweet potato cake was dry and tasteless a real disappointment. The piece of Pork belly was all fat and no meat the top so crisp it was again left as inedible. Your premises are getting tired and in need of a face lift. The disabled toilet is now locked and you have to ask for a code but the lock so stiff that the waiter had to fight with it to open the door, as this is near to dining tables this makes for an embarrassing interlude not a discreet one. Canterbury is now full of fabulous restaurants all vying for the diners that visit our wonderful city and Cote needs to remain up there with the best. the tall slim manager is ever cheery but the new waiting staff all seemed a bit lack lustre. You always used to employ such jovial serving staff the runners who pelt up and down the stairs 2 floors to the kitchens are in better mood, what happened to service with a smile. Adding the tip to the bill is a further embarassment as if you have come to the restaurant for the cheaper early doors menu and are on a budget asking to have it taken off the bill so that you can make a choice yourself is awkward to say the least. We would like to continue bringing our custom to your door please get your act together.

Upon being seated by the maitre/maitresse, she gave us menus and I asked for two glasses of prosecco, these were swiftly delivered - great service. We like the ambience of the Canterbury brasserie however our chicken breast, while tasty, was somewhat crispy and over cooked all around its edge. The sardines tasted great.

A special treat meal for myself and husband, but limited time. Had the premium set menu, and all very tasty and efficiently served

We visit Cote regularly around the country and we were again not disappointed,a superb meal,lovely waitress and as usual good quality french fare!.we find that at Canterbury you have to request " a nice table" because some parts of the restaurant can somewhat lack ambiance! so now when we reserve a table we always ask for the front of the restaurant.

It's amazing how this chain manages to keep such a consistently high standard across all its restaurants, the Canterbury one in particular.

This is the third week running that we’ve been to Côte at Canterbury and it didn’t disappoint. Once again, very friendly, attentive staff and really enjoyable food. Absolutely no complaints. First class.

I encouraged my friends to go for lunch here as I had tecently visited and the fiood and service was excellent. However two if my friends ordered the seafood linguine and said that there was a strong aroma which “put them off”. I tried to tell them to speak to a member of staff but they felt as I had booked it they did not want to make a fuss. A shame I think. Service was as always excellent even though tit was very busy and everyone enjoyed their starters very much.

Very helpful pleasant staff who offered excellent service. We’ve been here many times and never been unhappy. The food is very good and tasty. Will return again shortly. Can get busy, so wise to book.

The food at Cote is consistently good. On the last two visits in Canterbury the 12.5% service charge has automatically been put on the bill. The party was only three people. At today's visit the service was adequate but nothing particularly special. I am always keen to reward good service with a good tip but today would not have been one of them. I was therefore not that happy to have 12.5% added to the bill. Perhaps I am able to ask for this to be removed by our waitress but it could have got uncomfortable and not how I would have wanted to end the meal. Is this now the policy of all Cote restaurants to add 12.5% to all their bills?

Nice pre-theatre set menu. Restaurant was quite lively given that we ate early, around 5.30pm. Waitresses were welcoming and gave good prompt service ensuring we wete finished in good time for the play. We selected the prestige set-menu which we hadn't had befor, offering a wider choice and more intersting items (French onion soup and fish pie in our case, both very good).

Food and service really good, only downside they did not have any Sambucca to have with my Wife’s coffee. They did let us have my Brandy and the coffees for nothing.

Very pleasant evening as we have come to expect from Canterbury Cote. In my view Cote provide reasonably priced good food with excellent and timely service. Last nigh we had an Attentive and friendly waitress and very good food. Thank you. David

Very enjoyable. Food always good and attentive service. Sadly too full after a starter and main to enjoy dessert! We will be back on a regular basis even though we are a 45 minute drive away.

Very nice meal, and prompt service. Staff always friendly and pleasant. Only problem was being at end of restaurant next to disabled toilet, with a queue and people having trouble opening door...so rather noisy and not very private!

I always love Cote. It's very good value for money and the service is good. It wasn't so great on this occasion though... It was lunch time, and the restaurant was very busy so the staff were run off their feet. As usual they were friendly and helpful, but service was quite slow. I noticed that kitchen staff brought out our food on trays - but had to wait for waiting staff to serve it to us. Because it was so busy, they had to wait a while - so the food wasn't as hot as it could be. We ordered spinach with our meals which was forgotten and we had to wait quite a while between courses. The food was good quality as usual, the staff were professional and doing their best, but I think perhaps there should have been more staff on, or that kitchen staff should have just served us rather than waiting for the front of house staff. I will come back, because I think it was probably a glitch. I sincerely hope so.

The restaurant is run with passion by the manager and all the staff making it feel like a single owner restaurant rather than a chain. Food and drink is good value and high quality. Made to feel comfortable and relaxed, can't ask for more.

Enjoyed our meal, felt our prawn starters should include crusty bread as norm,not to buy at extra cost.would recommend and go again. Our grandson visiting from Australia with his girlfriend,thought lamb exellent

Everything was good, Nice table, Good service and great food. The fillet steak and creme brulee is particularly good. The thought of creamed spinach may not sound so good but thats really nice as well. Many Thanks

Great service and food. Unfortunately there was a loud group on a table next to us but you can't criticise cote for that and to be fair they offered an alternative table at the outset. We just didn't realise why.... We will be going back

Always find the ambience, service and food top quality here. My only complaint is the huge amount of stairs to the toilets! Love the complimentary filtered water.

Had a lovely lunch with friends. As usual superb food and service. Staff are always on hand and we had a relaxing meal. We have still yet to find a restaurant in Canterbury which draws us back as much as Cotes.

Great fixed price menu. This month it was difficult to choose as I liked everything on it. Good quality produce, cooked well and well presented. Great service, the waiters are attentive but not intrusive. Great value.

We had booked for 4 at 8.45pm arrived with 5 of us absolutely no problem. We were greeted with our free cocktails immediately which were lovely. Food was great as always and service professional but friendly. Love it here.

Food was delicious, plentiful and great value for money. All staff were polite and engaging. Environment was very comfy and appropriate. Only reason this review didn’t give top marks is that there was a long wait between being seated and ordering drinks and again when asking for the bill and receiving it. Will definitely return and try breakfast

Although we had booked a table we were kept waiting 10 minutes to be seated. It was a further 20 minutes before anyone came to take our drink /food order. The garlic bread was cold when it came after a further 15 minutes. The main courses however were delicious so we would return to another branch but not Canterbury unfortunately.
