Hearty food, great music, free wine and staff who understand the correct level of service - there when you need them and not when you don’t!
A lovely evening at Canterbury Cote made more special by the complimentary Kir Royales. Nice. One small error in the order - two Asparagus starters ordered with Hollandaise but served with vinaigrette. All else was very good.
Made my daughters 21st birthday really special, a lovely restaurant, lovely staff and great food. Will definitely be back again and will also recommend to friends
Excellent service! Affordable price! Tasty food! Been few times will definitely come back again!
Eccellent service and good food as usual. Unfortunately, I did not check the bill untill now and I find that I have been charged twice for my calamari starter. I hope to sort it out on my next visit.
Excellent ambiance stylish interior design. Very reasonably priced set lunch menu. Be careful not to leave tips separately as 12.5% gratuity included in bill. Excellent service and superb meal. Only small matter was cod cakes could have been hotter but otherwise excellent Will be returning next week!
We dined for a pre theatre meal and booked Cote as we have eaten in many of them before. The service was fantastic from start to finish. Lovely meals and good attention to allergens. Probably the best Cote we have been to.
Ate at the Canterbury Cote on Sunday and Monday evening. Dependable French Bistro food; excellent half-chicken with chips, also good mussels and steak/frites and a delicious chocolate mousse. Wine is good value and good quality: Sauvignon and Rhone. Friendly service and a relaxed attitude which allowed us to wait for a third diner caught in traffic from London. Much recommended. Maybe we could have done without the canned music, however.
Reliably great food and service. Always a good place to eat, whether they are very busy or not. My favourite restaurant in Canterbury. Well done!
Mother's day atmosphere was really lovely, the restaurant was exceptionally busy but the staff were unflappable and the food was great and delivered very timely. One of our party was late, but this was accommodated and handled perfectly. Thanks for a lovely experience.
Went last night at 7pm 14th April. The food was absolutely amazing and the waitress we have was absolutely lovely and couldn't have done enough for us. Really enjoyable experience
The brasserie was recommended to me by a friend from work and I was not disappointed. The food was glorious, the service excellent and the atmosphere was lovely and relaxed. An added plus for me was that it was very comfortable and the seating was roomy and the tables well spaced. I absolutely can't fault our visit to Cote at all. I was with friends but I did notice a lady eating alone. She seemed very comfortable which I noted as being a single lady myself, I'm always on the look out for places I can go alone. Thank you for such an enjoyable experience.
The friendly and efficient level of service was at the high level we have come to expect from Côte. We enjoyed our experience and will come again.
Husbands birthday and the first time there, he thoroughly enjoyed it, Lovely staff, service and lovely food. Nice fondant given as it was his birthday, a very good touch. Will go again. highly recommend to all.
we are regular visitors Cote and have over the years really enjoyed our meals but the dining experience is not what it used to be. The food on this occasion was not up to standard, my breaded zucchini was stodgy not not cooked through. The calamari was on the other hand over cooked and many bits touch and not edible. The main courses were overcooked dauphinoise so crispy was the top layer that it made the rest of the potato dry. The sweet potato cake was dry and tasteless a real disappointment. The piece of Pork belly was all fat and no meat the top so crisp it was again left as inedible. Your premises are getting tired and in need of a face lift. The disabled toilet is now locked and you have to ask for a code but the lock so stiff that the waiter had to fight with it to open the door, as this is near to dining tables this makes for an embarrassing interlude not a discreet one. Canterbury is now full of fabulous restaurants all vying for the diners that visit our wonderful city and Cote needs to remain up there with the best. the tall slim manager is ever cheery but the new waiting staff all seemed a bit lack lustre. You always used to employ such jovial serving staff the runners who pelt up and down the stairs 2 floors to the kitchens are in better mood, what happened to service with a smile. Adding the tip to the bill is a further embarassment as if you have come to the restaurant for the cheaper early doors menu and are on a budget asking to have it taken off the bill so that you can make a choice yourself is awkward to say the least. We would like to continue bringing our custom to your door please get your act together.
Lovely food and great service, thank you very much Cote
Upon being seated by the maitre/maitresse, she gave us menus and I asked for two glasses of prosecco, these were swiftly delivered - great service. We like the ambience of the Canterbury brasserie however our chicken breast, while tasty, was somewhat crispy and over cooked all around its edge. The sardines tasted great.
Another visit to this gem of a restaurant. Superb service, tasty food, great price. Never had a bad visit here, either lunchtime or evening. Given the number of venues in Canterbury this one is very popular and it is best to book.
We were very disappointed with the service we received as we ordered bread and olives as a starter which never arrived but were then offered them with our main course! Also the new potatoes were undercooked and by the time replacements came we had finished the rest of our meal.
Attentive staff, excellent food and a delivery on a request to celebrate my Fiancees birthday. A really top evening enhanced by great food and service - thank you
Always first class but today it was exceptional. My favourite restaurant by a very long way.
La cuisine est de qualité, le service est très professionnel et attentif, l'ambiance est bonne. Deuxième visite : même niveau de qualité et même soirée très agréable Merci et bravo. Nicolas ROY
Visited on 18/5/19 party of four. Two of our party received our meals far in advance of the remaining two, waiter waffled on about the delay being due to the chef not being happy with our other two steaks not being ready yet and yet they were still brought to the table not cooked to our requirements which resulted us having to swop steaks amongst ourselves. The restaurant was not busy and quite frankly the meal was very expensive for what it was. We will be going to one of the many other restaurants on offer in Canterbury in future.
Party of ten everyone thought the food was excellent, all arrived at same time, pleasant atmosphere and good service. All the ingredients needed for a great night
Had a lovely lunch with friends. As usual superb food and service. Staff are always on hand and we had a relaxing meal. We have still yet to find a restaurant in Canterbury which draws us back as much as Cotes.
Great food and good service with staff being friendly and helpful. There is an extensive menu available at very reasonable prices and would definitely recommend.
Brilliant as usual such good food and service always so enjoyable
Brilliant as usual such good food and service always so enjoyable
This is a delightful place to eat. The food is of the highest standard and the menu is wide-ranging. The atmosphere is warm and the hospitality ensures that one wishes to return. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wished to savour a genuine touch of fine French dining out.
Charming service, good value and good quality of food. Just right for a pre-theatre supper. Weekday set menus are excellent value. The house creme caramel is superb!
This was my third visit to Cote in Canterbury for lunch, the food was excellent and the Creme caramel is the best. The restaurant is well positioned for the Marlowe theatre so excellent for pre theatre meals and the set menu is good value for money. It's always busy and has a lively atmosphere without being too noisy and the service is good.
Lovely food served by lovely people and no doubt prepared by people who care.
There was a party of 5 of us and we booked this as we had tickets to the local theatre. Very friendly staff who understood that we needed a quick turnaround because of this. Service and food was excellent Would recommend
Absolutely tip top breakfast! Loved by the whole family. Service was spot on, food delicious and cooked to perfection. Have now been for dinner and brunch, you won't be disappointed!
Only place to dine out in Canterbury City Centre! The standard of the food is always excellent and the service first class! Early evening 3 course meal is a superb bargain!
Great fixed price menu. This month it was difficult to choose as I liked everything on it. Good quality produce, cooked well and well presented. Great service, the waiters are attentive but not intrusive. Great value.
Brilliant restaurant to eat, fantastic service and you can’t fault the food. Good atmosphere whether you are a couple or a group. I would recommend a visit to this fantastic restaurant.
Over all excellent experience. We sat upstairs and our server was outstanding, unfortunately we didn't get his name . My only critisicm is on our main course of Duck Confit which myself and my partner struggled to finish as it was so so salty...other than that a wonderful evening thinks you x
Excellent service, interesting menu selection & prompt service. Lovely Mothering Sunday lunch, good atmosphere & friendly, wlecoming staff. Great location in centre of City, although busy did not feel rushed, nice relaxed lunch.
Its always a delight to have a meal at your restaurant in Canterbury, from the friendly efficient staff who welcome us to interesting dessert, everything is perfect - well done.
Very nice atmosphere. Shame they ran out of the main course we wanted but they did offer us to choose another one out of any menus we like for the same price as our initial choice. Very friendly waitress.
We had booked for 4 at 8.45pm arrived with 5 of us absolutely no problem. We were greeted with our free cocktails immediately which were lovely. Food was great as always and service professional but friendly. Love it here.
Excellent food as always. Staff very friendly, professional and always accommodating. Great atmosphere within therestaurant ! Looking forward to April’s menu. Canterbury is the nicest branch that I have visited. I
Excellent As always. Our visiting friends were very pleased. Superb fish!
Knowledge on the food was not great (they weren’t aware of what the larding in steak is). There was no egg on my steak tartare and was said that it was the traditional version for mains had a sirloin and had hole piece of muscle in the middle of my rare sirloin can’t really blame them for that but when it is rare or blue should be check because was nearly impossible to cut and there was to little sauce provided for a 10oz sirloin and creme brûlée was burnt - creme brûlée is the definition of burnt creme not burnt sugar but should be caramelised sugar. Thank you for the experience - but IF I would come again would appreciate better staff knowledge.
Lovely food. Excellent service- as always. Great ambience. A real pleasure. On this occasion it was a Birthday celebration and the staff went all out to make it a special evening.
Excellent food and service! Will be back again. Many thanks!
Food was delicious, plentiful and great value for money. All staff were polite and engaging. Environment was very comfy and appropriate. Only reason this review didn’t give top marks is that there was a long wait between being seated and ordering drinks and again when asking for the bill and receiving it. Will definitely return and try breakfast
First class. Had reserved table, ready on arrival. Lovely meal served with no fuss, the seabass very tasty and March special pancakes were wonderful. G and t’s pretty good too!
Although we had booked a table we were kept waiting 10 minutes to be seated. It was a further 20 minutes before anyone came to take our drink /food order. The garlic bread was cold when it came after a further 15 minutes. The main courses however were delicious so we would return to another branch but not Canterbury unfortunately.
Quality of food, service and overall ambience cannot be beaten in Canterbury! Early Bird Menu excellent value for money .
