Great food, waitress a little hard to understand but she was very pleasant. Atmosphere was lacking. Overall a very good food experience however it wasn't very busy!
A difficult review! As booked for our wedding anniversary, looking forward to a really special meal and vouchers from friends to visit for the first time! Unfortunately the restaurant had a major water leak from the toilets soaking parts of the restaurant, with thankfully clean looking water! Our waiter and staff were most apologetic and we didn't have to pay! Most kind and supportive. Prior to the leak my wife had the French onion soup, great, although the bread was cut marginally to thick, and I had a warm goats cheese salad slightly not warm enough. However the wine was great and superbly chilled. The greeting at the door was a little cold, however we will book again soon to hopefully have the full experience. All in all a difficult review as unforseen circumstances dictated. The staff did well though and our waiter was great! I'd definitely recommend.
Unfortunately we only had a starter as there was a problem in the kitchen with flooding so had to leave without our family lunch! Hoping Cote will offer us a free meal to make up for the disappointment!

Really need to do something about the acoustics upstairs. It was so noisy that we couldn't hear each other across the table.
The service was brilliant and the venue is amazing, as always.
Such impeccable service and divine food! Can't wait until our next visit!
Excellent. Lovely table, Very Good Service and as always Great food and wine.
Fantastic experience as always. Food was amazing and staff incredibly friendly.
Another excellent meal served by friendly and attentive staff. Well done Exeter Côte we really enjoyed our visit. Thank you also for our free cocktails as part of your April promotion they were delicious.
We do enjoy a meal at Cote. As we travel around we always seem to pick a town with a Cote Brassiere but home is Exeter. Today was my 66th birthday and my partner treat me to lunch. She enjoyed the scallops followed by Chicken grille whereas I had the chicken liver parfait followed by Beef bourguignon and creme brulee. All were perfect. The service was warm and friendly. We enjoyed our meal.
Great food and excellent service. Restaurant was busy but food came out quickly. The only downside was that it was noisy upstairs and we couldn’t really have a good conversation. But everything else was very good.
Always a lovely, friendly atmosphere for a weekend brunch - I highly recommend the French breakfast. I look forward to returning with my family again, soon.
Don’t like the discretionary 12.5% service charge you add on. Whatever happened to 10%? Very poor acoustics, take a leaf out of Harry’s re vamp. What else can I say to make it 25 words?
Front door being kept open when large parties were coming in ... not great. We were near the window and it was cold. Wine was warm. We had to ask for ice cube to go in the wine.. not great.. that happened last time we were there to be honest. Veg portions small. Steak great but chips cold. Service good.
We arrived and were taken to our table on the first floor. We were not too close to the windows,it was cold and snowing outside but had a lovely view of the cathedral. We were meeting friends for a celebration. We had a beef bourguinon, duck, fillet steak and goat cheese salad with a variety of sides. All were excellent. Deserts and coffees followed these were good too. Service, we were not kept waiting at all . We frequently eat at Cote. We like the atmosphere and ambience. Whichever Cote we eat in whetheer it is Exeter or Birmingham or Salisbury or Clifton, Cirencester, the food service and ambience are consistantly good
Easy online booking with a table where requested. Superb setting on the cathedral green. We were spoilt for choice with a great selection of mains, starters and puddings. The food was really good and staff friendly and helpful. We will be back!
I really enjoyed my meal at Cote. The food was excellent and a really lovely atmosphere. I would also like to thank the staff who were superb in their attention and friendliness.
Great breakfast this morning .Great service .Always enjoy my visits at this restaurant.
Food excellent, service excellent, staff friendly and attentive. Shame we were not allowed to bring our dog with us - so many restaurants do allow dogs these days. That is the only reason we may think twice about coming again.
Cote, as always, did not fail to disappoint. The added bonus of eating at Cote Exeter is the beautiful view of the cathedral!
We enjoyed a really lovely evening, with attentive and friendly staff. There was an extensive choice on the menu with something to suit everyone's taste. The food was delicious and well presented. We would recommend the restaurant to our friends.
This is a great restaurant at any time of the day. I really like their premium set menu which I think is good value for money
Great food and services. Really enjoyed the moules frites and steak frites and the ambience in general. Waiter very friendly. Lovely evening had by all. Thanks
Good meals, pleasant service just right for mother's day.Got a nice window table.Coffee ina cafftiere as per the menu would have been better but not available.
A very pleasant lunchtime meal with your excellent staff and delicious food once again! Your blood orange Martini should be given an award🤗🤗 I wish I had taken the name of our waitress, because she was really top of her league.
Another good night out with excellent food and service as normal.
Because it was my partner Susan's birthday I had asked Côte to do what they could to assist our celebration and earlier I dropped off an aromatic candle for our table. As we arrived Susan was surprised and delighted to see 2 glasses of Champagne on the table next to the Molton Brown candle that had already been lit for us. All the waiting staff were "on message" and our food arrived promptly and tasted delicious. Thank you to Daniel and his team for making us so welcome.
Great choice for food in Exeter, one of the best. Great good, wine, service and excellent service. Have tried several things and the food is always excellent. Consistently good.
Awesome staff, awesome food, awesome views (including my rather attractive wife) and awesome beer. Would definitely come back again. You guys would do well to remove all of the other starters and just leave the calamari on there because i was mega jealous of my wifes calamari. Great night for us overall. Cheers!
Lovely food but ordered a rare steak and it was medium at best. Couldn’t be bothered to return it etc. It was good but basic error for a twenty pound steak
Very noisy today.. we couldn’t hear each other because of a large noisy table behind us..spoilt the meal today . Service was slower because of the large table too. Will ask for downstairs next month.
Great as always. Efficient service. Food really tasty. Good range of courses including specials. Good ambience. Still one of my favourite places in Exeter. Like the offers.
Excellent staff & good atmosphere. Very friendly & efficient waiter. We really enjoyed our food & perfectly cooked & good wine choice. We will always return.
We visited to celebrate my daughter in law's Birthday . We had a very good meal from the set menu which we all thought was extremely good value. We were delighted with the unexpected glasses of fizz to toast the Birthday Girl. Well done Cote. a lovely evening had by all.
There is always a relaxed atmosphere, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The various menus mean a choice of food at different price levels...something for everyone! We look forward to our next visit.
Always love our time at Cote but unfortunately on this occasion our chicken was very dry even though we were seated early. We had to send back the meal
Lovely spot in Cathedral Close, especially when seated by the window. Only criticism, the noise level was only just tolerable so conversation at times was difficult
We loved the food and the atmosphere and would go back again. I just feel We were rushed to hurry up so they could use our table for the next customer. We barely finished our starter when we had asked if we had finished and the main came out. The table was full as wasn’t cleared. Loved it just don’t want to be rushed when I’m paying for a nice dinning experience which I rarely treat myself to
Lovely late breakfast in a gorgeous setting. Food is always delicious, service is always excellent and the atmosphere here is chilled & relaxed. I feel like I’ve had a treat when I dine here.
Love Cote, food excellent, service excellent what’s not to love
Lovely staff and lovely food. Very well presented and beautifully cooked. The only disappointing part was that they’d run out of spiced apple chutney to go with the chicken liver pate and they served it with gherkins. Wasn’t great as dislike gherkins. Steak was amazing too.
Always good just wish seating was further apart as feels a little claustrophobic Ambiance is always pleasant with good service and reliable food quality Nice to eat in a French style restaurant as opposed to so many pseudo Italian ones
We enjoyed a particularly lovely Sunday breakfast. The staff were attentive and efficient as usual! Looking forward to our next visit to Cote Exeter for breakfast or dinner.
Consistently good, an authentic Parisien feel with tasty food prepared and served by well-trained professional people who really seem to care about what they are doing.
Ok food small portions nice staff nice venue wine to expensive could do with some complimentary bread on the table but over all a nice place to eat
We had a really bad experience today. If it was just my husband and l fair enough Our friends paid for the meal which was even more embarrassing!

Nice atmosphere and a good choice on the menu. Everything is reasonably priced. Attentive service. The size of the place does mean it can be quite noisy.
Lovely food as always, staff very friendly and efficient, always very welcoming. For quality and value for money you won’t find a better place in Exeter. See you all next month.
Booked a table ( 8 people ) for my sons birthday. Had a lovely evening until paying the bill, they decided to include the tip without asking me which left me feeling very awkward and embarrassed. I would have been happy to give something but felt it was too much as I was paying for everyone in the party.
We are never disappointed. The setting is superb. This lunchtime we had a special birthday celebration and the staff could not have been more attentive. Even on our 'ordinary' visits we have great and consistently high service. Well done to all! Dr Gray
