Efficient service and excellent value for money, taking advantage of the pre-7pm set menus. Seated on the first floor with a view of the cathedral, even on a grey, wet evening was delightful.
We have been to Côte Exeter a few times before and we’re looking forward to another evening there. However, we had a bit of a mixed experience. The positives are, good food and service, and great a view of the Cathedral. But unfortunately there were a couple of negatives, it was so cramped, one of our group had to constantly move his chair to allow the waiting staff and other diners to get through and it was extremely noisy, so much so that we had to talk loudly to be heard above everybody else. I appreciate you need to maximise the space you’ve got, but sacrificing a couple of tables would make a huge difference.
Service very slow, had to ask for first course dishes to be removed . Restaurant was not busy, sat down stairs and the waiters did not have any interest in servicing the few customers that were present.
Beautiful cooked and presented food. We had a free bottle of wine which was lovely, not only because it was free; it was a very smooth wine. Enjoyed the experience very much. Have been many times to Cote and would visit again.
Great service, and staff. Lovely breakfast and great choice of options for everyone to choose from. Thank you again Côte will be back for next birthday!
Lovely experience Staff friendly and service was ok, but obviously a very busy time. Will definitely want to return again soon. Set menus very good value.
Very loud, slow and mussels weren't cooked properly. Rib eye tasted like a wetherspoons steak. Monkfish was overpowered by garlic. Not a good experience at all
Food was really good - we had the April special - and very friendly staff. Atmosphere was great but very busy so was quite noisy at times.
We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. The staff are friendly and helpful without being pushy. The food was excellent and great value ok us for money.
Food and service were very good. However, having eaten previously at another branch, I booked the restaurant because it has a good value 3 course Prestige Set Menu which includes both meat and fish main course options, as my sister cannot eat fish. I was very disappointed that two of the six main courses were unavailable at 7.30pm " because it's a busy Easter holiday week" , with no alternative substitutions offered. We were therefore obliged to choose from the a la carte menu, (which also had unavailable options) and consequently paid much more than we had intended. I felt that the restaurant should have planned better for an obviously busy period and offered alternatives when they ran out. I will hesitate before eating at a Cote Brasserie restaurant again, as it marred an otherwise positive experience, which could have been easily remedied.
First class food first class service at reasonable prioe It is our default restaurant we never go elsewhere

Service and food both excellent. We both particularly liked the Creme Caramel.
I am a starch free diner for medical reasons which I made the restaurant aware of beforehand. Bread arrived with my starter and I was given no option of an alternative. We then waited an hour for our main course after our starter with no explanation. The food and atmosphere was really good when it arrived. It’s not the first time I’ve had issues with Cote delivering me food that has starch in it.
Booked for valentine's Day ,starter came within 15 mins then a long wait for the mains to come. The steak was completely over cooked and was sent back !! However on the second time it was perfect. However my partner had chicken which looked nice but the end of the breast was not partially cooked it was raw.If this was found before we would have walked out. However you are lucky to have such a good manager who was very helpful to say the least .We do use this restaurant frequently, but felt a bit let down by the standards on valentine's Day .
Never had a bad meal. Wonderful food and drinks, great atmosphere too!
Having visited this branch several times it has never disappointed however on this occasion the wait for a main course for our table of five was unduly long - almost an hour - with no real apology and no offer of a deduction off our bill. When it arrived, it was very good. Everyone refers to the manager resulting in many of the staff not being ‘empowered’ eg only the manager could sit people at tables. Service could definitely be improved.
We enjoyed an excellent meal and the service was outstanding. I shall be returning again .
Fab lunch to celebrate my daughter's 21st. Lovely touch with card, kir & chocolates on arrival. Delicious meals all round - the usual Cote quality - we'll be back!
Waited AN HOUR for the food. The Salt Cod Croquettes, Breton Stew, and Roasted Cod are way too salty to the point where you need to drink water every 2 bites. Seafood quality was okay, but the amount of salt in each dish is just ridiculous. Had to wait another 15 minutes just to PAY for the food due to some software issue. Worst meal and service I've had in Exeter, not planning to go back ever again.
Lovely catch up lunch with a long time friend. Not pushed for time by staff, a huge and delicious salad, glass of bubbles and the must have creme caramel. Perfect
Absolutely top notch food, full of flavour. First class service from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Also, a full and varied Gluten Free menu to choose from. Cannot recommend highly enough.
There were five of us in our group. We each had a starter and a main, but you'd never knew it if you'd seen our plates at the end. Delicious! Too good to leave anything behind. The view, atmosphere and staff were all brilliant. Can't wait to go again.
Great location, great food, great value for money. I have been on a number of occasions and always have a good experience. I would definitely recommend Côte in Exeter.
Love the food & excellent service. Can’t resist the cod coujons! Lovely setting looking out at the cathedral. Requested a seat by the window on first floor so we could look at the view.
Our waitress and others were most helpful in seating six of us as a table for four. We had a lovely meal and shall be back!
I ordered the Veal steak as it's an April special- no veal- very disappointing. Also when it came to pay the waitress automatically added on the discretionary service- was happy to pay but would have liked to been asked

The atmosphere and service was great, and people very friendly
Low rating as belly pork was not well cooked. Fat not rendered out and crackling not crisp. Made more acceptable by price being taken from the bill
It’s always a delight to eat at Cote - great food, excellent value and fantastic service. And the second floor provides excellent views of the Cathedral
The service was excellent and the staff did not hesitate in discounting my meal from the bill. The problem was the food. My medium rare fillet steak was grey and overcooked, the meat was close grained and bland suggesting it may have been previously frozen. The replacement was only marginally better. My partners boeuf bourguignon was made with very small pieces of cheap cut beef. All this suggests that the chain is trying to protect its margins at the expense of the customer. As I say, service excellent - food very poor indeed.
We had a wonderful evening and an equally wonderful meal.
Tuna nicoise was OK but should have been half the size and twice as thick to get it a proper medium rare. You have done it before really well but not this time.
Great food and service best place to eat in Exeter
We went in at 6 and did the set menu which was 19.99 for 3 courses. Food was lovely!! Was busy but the service was still spot on.
Super meal as usual but I don’t know why the Negroni wasn’t complementary as had been advertised?
Very fast and friendly service and the food was superb. Thank you!
Service was good, friendly and efficient without being pushy. Good value lunch specials AND good food! Atmosphere great, a buzzy background indicating overall enjoyment- just as we had expected, having visited at least three other Cotes. Thank you.
Welcoming and very friendly staff, quick & smooth food/drinks service. There was also no waiting time from arriving to then be seated (although we had booked).
First class as ever, thank you. The food and service can never be faulted.
Another great meal. Lamb Parmentier followed by the classic Creme Caramel. Great value for £11.50 and we had a wonderful view of the Cathedral.
Excellent food and seevice, great value for money. We had the three course offer which has delicious choices and something for everyone, I would highly recommend
Busy lunchtime -a while to get drinks and be served- lively atmosphere- menu had been decimated by busy weekend so some first choices of food and drink not available- otherwise all good

Very busy evening, staff excellent but a very noisy environment. Food excellent too.
Great ambience, warm, lovely views across the Cathedral green, excellent service & food. Look forward to returning in the future to sample some more of the menu.
Courteous staff, nice table by the window, overlooking the Cathedral. Fixed menu has small and delicious dishes with subtle flavours. Will definitely return!
Beautiful meal and charming staff. A little gem in a wonderful place. Definitely recommend to friends
Excellent value and amazing food. Great menu choices and a relaxing atmosphere.
Enjoyed the complementary gin cocktail very much, lovely treat....service up to the usual high standard, very busy but we'll handled. Nice day so big window on ground floor open, lovely atmosphere
Chicken and walnut salad was very poor, only 2 walnuts and mostly leaves. Only lemonade was Schweppes, Table next to us went back the fish they had. Was busy today, shame really.
