We had an early reservation for two. Even so, available tables were awful, either crammed against walls or immediately next to busy and noisy service counters.I am 6'3"+, my wife is 5'9", and we are generally uncomfortable with one arm pressed against a wall. . We ended up against a wall in the noisy bar, and made the best of it. We came specifically because of the Vigouroux Cahors being offered, but it turned out to not be a Cahors at all. The Vigouroux wine being sold is from the Comte Colosan d.o.c., which is nearby but not in Cahors. It was certainly drinkable, but exhibited none of the characteristic Earthiness of a Cahors. The food was excellent, particularly the pork belly -- almost good enough to make up for the wine fraud and the poor seating. Nevertheless, we would not return.

Asked for a window table when booking online and were given one, and at a peak time on a very busy Saturday night, which was brilliant. Ordered the vegetarian pissaladiere but was given one with anchovies; luckily we noticed before taking a bite. Genuine mistake and swiftly rectified. Sausages a little over cooked if being totally honest. Overall a lovely experience as always, so thank you.

As always a lovely dining experience at Cote. Only slight disappointment was that we tried to order 3 monkfish but there was only one available. We then tried to order the lamb special to be told this was sold out also. The food that we did have was beautiful as always and we had a lovely afternoon

We are a family of four and visited the Exeter restaurant for a 70th birthday breakfast treat. We had booked online and had requested a window table on the first floor overlooking Exeter Cathedral. We were disappointed on arrival to be told that the upstairs was not open, but we could have a window table on the ground floor, which we reluctantly accepted. We could still see the cathedral from here, but only 10 minutes into our meal an ambulance came and parked right across the window, totally obscuring our view. We just wished when our booking was accepted that we had been told that we would have to sit on the ground floor, but by this time it was too late. Also, it was very noisy downstairs with the cutlery on the serving bar and the constant hissing of the coffee machine; my husband is very hard of hearing, and all this background noise made it impossible to have a decent conversation. The other moan was that the hollandaise sauce on the eggs was far too rich and creamy, and I have been feeling queasy all day. Apart from all this, the service was impeccable and we did not have long to wait for our meals. The food was good and the price too was reasonable. All in all, we would definitely return, but would make sure that the food we ordered was not covered in sauce, and that we had a table away from the serving area.

We had an excellent meal. Our starters and main courses, sea bass and pan fried hike was deliciously cooked and served piping hot. We had a complimentary bottle of red wine this time. The service was excellent. The waitresses were very attentive and helpful. We had a wonderful evening. Thank you

The food can be a little inconsistent and the cocktails , usually Kir Royale are sometimes not served that cold when they should be . Still a good place to honing exeter.

After booking to take my mother for mother’s day lunch, we were very much looking forward to our experience. However, when we entered, we were waiting almost 10 minutes to be greated and then seated at our table. After this things did not get any better. We were almost forgotten about at our table as the service was very slow and our waitress almost seemed annoyed that we were there. The food was great as ever but unfortunately the service really let us down this visit. We do frequent cotes quite often and were excited to take our family but we were lady feeling disappointed. A real shame.

3 breakfasts with poached eggs all eggs hard, 2 returned and fresh breakfasts received after a long wait only to find a HAIR in my mushrooms. This was supposed to be a birthday breakfast with friends but due to egg issues meant we did not eat all together, not the morning we’d wanted. We do enjoy going to Cote but the breakfasts lately have been very poor. Think the kitchen staff need a talking too.

Service very poor my wife is allergic to halzlenut and asked for no dressing and it came with dressing. The incorrect starter was brought. The crumble was cold even though the dish was hot. We ordered liquor coffees and they turned up 15 mins before we had received the desert. The bill was incorrect twice . Food was lovely though just the waitress a liability did not understand enough English only Spanish . Such a shame as it was a treat for my wife

Good atmosphere and helpful staff. Salad Nicoise - tuna overdone and almost no potatoes. Chicken salad - no walnuts, 2 French beans, 2 small chunks of avocado. So not that impressed. Previous experiences have been better. Maybe avoid Sunday evening?

Another very good meal at Cote, Exeter. My gluten free partner was also full of praise for the choice and quality of the food and wine and the service. The Exeter Cote is probably my favourite because of the excellent upstairs dining room, in my experience the food and service offering has been very good at all the outlets I have tried. I would recommend Cote.

Good welcome, good atmosphere with candles on every table. Gorgeous French style food and good choice on the menu. Had the lamb rump two days running as it was so good. Only disappointment was the burnt olives that came with it the second time. The meat and everything else was cooked to perfection.

Very pleasant experience. Food was good, calamari to start, then the haddock in bacon, well cooked, not dry. Restaurant was half full which was enjoyable, as it was too overbearing but quiet enough to have conversation around the table. Staff were available, but not intrusive and all were polite and helpful.

I came into the restaurant a week ago to book a table for eight people to celebrate my 65th birthday, and asked for a table in a quiet area. I was shown around the restaurant by your member of staff and the various potential positioning of a table for eight was discussed. On arriving last night at the appointed time I was told that a table had been reserved for three! A table for eight was eventually found. As for "quiet area" - no such luck!
