I’ve always been a huge fan of Côte, after visiting the Bluewater restaurant and consistently being met with friendly, diligent staff members. My visit today at Maidstone was far from this; members of staff didn’t bother making eye contact and we were often without cutlery or glasses. Moreover, at the end of our meal when we paid, our transaction was queried in a fairly brash manner despite it going through and us showing confirmation directly from the mobile banking app. I am aware of the intensity and pressure restaurant staff are often under, however this should not impact the guest’s experience. Automatically placing a 12.5% gratuity on our bill was distasteful, and cemented our decision to remove it. Visiting for Mother’s Day, I was expecting a lovely and relaxed afternoon, yet it was ruined by the lack of professionalism of your staff, who often ran around clueless and not bothered about the needs nor satisfaction of their customers.

We booked a table turned up and were told they had no tables- We were then told to go to the pub dor a drink-accross the road and wait which was the very last thing my wife and I wanted to do. It was a special occasion and we were really looking forward to it. I booked days before and our evening was ruined. We walked home back to the baby sitter which I still had to pay for.

This was one of those, sadly all too few, memorable culinary experiences in a brand restaurant. I compare with Marco Pierre White in Strandtown, Belfast a few weeks ago, which was dismal by comparison. So, service at Cote Maidstone was excellent. The moules and crab mayonnaise were delicious, but the Chateaubriand was something else . Perhaps the best cut of filet I have ever had and cooked to perfection, raw in the middle, pink then well done for the crust. All accompanied by a perfect St Emilion, served at room temperature. And a lovely Calvados with expresso to finish. Forgot the cheese, a good selection of four cheeses, also served at room temperature, not chilled so that you couldn’t taste them as is so often the case. On that basis, I highly recommend. The challenge is to maintain that standard! I’ll be back.....

The service was very good. We all had the formule, and the food was generally very good but the poached eggs were overcooked. However, the request to swap mushrooms for avocado was immediately agreed. The piped music was a bit intrusive, but tolerable. In summary, we enjoyed our visit and will return.

We both enjoyed our meals, starters and mains although the Mussels I had was a much smaller portion than i normally have in other restaurants and they were smaller. That is why I gave four stars and not six. Service was good.

Lovely, excellent food. Nice, well laid out restaurant and with the high ceilings not the usual high noise levels found in other restaurants. Staff are very pleasant and helpful but like most restaurants in this part of the World somewhat inexperienced. Had to ask for cutlery on two occasions and side plates once but worse actually brought the wrong starter to the table. But overall very good. Certainly the best food I've had in restaurants in Maidstone.

We had a very enjoyable evening. The food was good and well presented. I would have given 5 stars but because I was brought the wrong main course and had to wait about 10 min. for the correct one to arrive, I have only given 4 stars. However, this has not deterred me from returning. The bill was adjusted accordingly without having to ask!

Fantastic customer focussed service. Frank showed great respect and time in dealing with my mothers food intolerance. His service was both professional but unfussy and friendly. All staff were polite and professional. Food was as always, well cooked, presented and drink choices were great. Overall a lovely unrushed Sunday family meal.

Overall a very nice lunch, the steak cooked well - as ordered, the sea bass also very nice. The only recommendation I would make is that the 12.5% gratuity should not be included in the bill. It should be the customers choice whether to add it( we would of tipped anyway), I know it can be removed(if requested) but it is not down to the restaurant to presume they've provided good service and at what level the customer wants to tip. A disappointing end to an otherwise enjoyable lunch.

Having booked the restaurant a week prior to my event : Mother’s Day. An email of confirmation was sent mid week regarding my attendance of which I confirmed my initial enquiry A day prior to the event I received a physical phone call from the manager confirming yes again if I was attending which again was a positive response On arrival on Mother’s Day we arrived at 1:55 at my table was booked for 2 pm After initial apologies we were left standing for nearly 20 minutes waiting for the said table. Once we eventually got seated the food itself was very nice and was very tasty however there was a service problem initially as the wrong starters were delivered to the table My point being was having confirmed the table twice already we had to stand for over 20 minutes as you expect in the likes of a Nando’s restaurant waiting for a seat and I was lucky that my mother who is 75 was fit enough to do so ! Kind regards Mr Beeney

Our experience was very nice. The food, decor and staff were lovely. I work in hospitality and was disappointed to see a 12.5% service charge added. It is optional but felt as we didn’t pay it the staff were awkward about it. London do this, & feel it’s not necessary, don’t see why Maidstone are adding it on. Take it off let people pay what they feel. It will put people off coming back or not tipping at all.

Very nice ambience & excellent food. The only downside was to find that the tip was automatically included in the bill rather than being added as a suggestion. I find this very presumptuous. Stating that all of the tip goes to the staff is tantamount to admitting that they only receive minimal pay and rely on the tip to make their work worthwhile. In fact they were most courteous, attentive & helpful but the way the bill was presented left a sour flavour.

We love Cote Brasserie but today we were a little disappointed. I had Cote de Veau but I was given a medium size T.one steak albeit from a calf. A COTE DE VEAU IS A VEAL CHOP NOT A T.BONE STEAK. Please check your translations! I look forward to your reply. Nigel Simmins nigelsimmins@talktalk.net

I am coeliac and cote is a godsend! The food is great, the choice on the coeliac menu is huge, and most importantly the staff understand what being gluten free means and how important it is for me. They make me feel safe to eat there which any other coeliac will understand. I’ve visited many branches on many different occasions and can’t find fault, it’s always delicious, quick, good value and lovely staff. Thank you!

I decided to book a table at Cote Brasserie Maidstone for my wife's birthday celebration and am very glad to have made this choice. The dining experience cannot be faulted for the quality of the food, the warm-welcome and expertise of the staff, as well as the atmosphere in the restaurant. There is a good range of choices across the menus (our party chose either the main a la carte, or the set which is available until 7pm) and prices on both menus are very reasonable. The French Onion Soup starter was a great starter on a chilly evening: piping hot, just about the right amount of pepper and a melt-in-the-mouth cheese and toasted bread topper. For the main course the Breton Fish Stew was outstanding - a good quantity of seafood (sea bass, mussels, scallops, prawn, clams and calamari) stewed in a delicious tomato, chilli and vegetable sauce. I sampled the slow-roast belly pork and potato gratin my wife was enjoying, and that too was cooked to perfection. All washed down with a nice bottle of Merlot (again at a very reasonable price) and rounded off with some delicious desserts. We will certainly be visiting Cote Brasserie Maidstone again to explore the menu further.

This was my second visit to Cote Brassserie in Maidstone for lunch. The first time was as part of a group of 14 and I was very impressed with the way the staff coped. Our food orders were taken efficiently and our food arrived in good time. One of our party had to send her meal back to the kitchen because the mashed potato was cold. However this was dealt with very promptly and a fresh plate of food was provided and an apology given by the Manager. My second visit was with a friend for lunch. On both occasions the service was good, the food delicious and the portions of a good size. The lunch menus, of which there are two, are changed regularly. We opted for the Two course for £10.95 or Three courses for £13.50 rather than the Prestige Set Menu. On this occasion I had the starter of Apple and Roquefort salad, Chicken and Bacon Parmentier, followed by Dark Chocolate Pot which is very rich and decadent. Staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive and there is a pleasant ambiance. There is an entrance with a ramp provided for disabled and wheelchair users, as well as a disabled toilet. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would have no hesitation in highly recommending Cote Brasserie. I'm looking forward to my next visit to sample more of their delicious food.
