Great choice of food and when it arrived it was delicious. Friendly service and a lovely non claustrophobic atmosphere. Will definitely go again.

Menu and food were very good. We were not impressed however by the size of our table because when our main course arrived there was not enough room for all the plates, secondly our table had not been cleaned just cleared from previous guests. That aside the rest of the evening was excellent and we will be going back.

Nice food and waitress was pleasant but we realised that something we didn’t have had been added to our bill and after they had also added on the service charge, the set menu really wasn’t much of a deal! Felt rather disappointed because an extra £15 on your bill makes all the difference when you are dining out on a budget.

This meal was for our first wedding anniversary, so when booking I had simply asked if there was a nice table to be sat at for this special occasion it would be most appreciated. Nothing could have prepared us for the experience we received. The maitre’d greeted us with a congratulations upon arrival and took us to an intimate corner table and bought us each a complimentary glass of champagne. Over the course of the evening, the various waiters/waitresses wished us well on our special day and the whole experience felt like dining at a family run restaurant as if we were regulars. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully prepared and an offering far different to most chain restaurants. Could not recommend this more highly. A great place for making memories with those you love.

As a regular diner I always book a table in the window area. This time however, a new front of house person, commented that I wanted a window table and showed me to a table in the main body of the restaurant. There was a table free in the window, no reservation sign, I pointed this out. He said it was for an elderly regular customer who likes that table and would be in later. I pointed out that I was a regular customer, had booked in advance, and he allowed my friend and myself to sit there. Not a great start to lunch! The waitress was smiley and efficient, the food great as always!

While the food was lovely the service was appalling. We waited 15 minutes before we were asked what we wanted to drink and had to ask for service at every course

We come here on a regular basis and the food and staff are always aiming to please. We thought our waiter was possibly new. He seemed anxious, but we could also see that he was very busy. So when our bread arrived, he dashed off, perhaps not realising that we had no side plates. When my partner’s beer arrived, there was no glass nor was one offered. The food was great, as usual. My only negative was the base of my tarte au citrin was a little overdone. Overall, these things did not spoil our evening. But small details can make all the difference between good and fantastic. No doubt, though, we will be back again.

I was looking forward to my first visit to Cote for my birthday. I had responded to an online ad and registered my details, which said I would receive a bottle of wine for doing so. I checked this before my visit and had it confirmed. When my wife and I arrived nothing was mentioned about the wine. We were asked what we would like to drink and again nothing was mentioned. I decide to ask the manager if we were entitled to the wine. He apologised and said he would sort it out straight away. However after waiting for him to seat 3 separate parties I eventually paid the bill. The bill clearly stated a bottle of wine was due. When I paid I still had to remind the waiter about the wine. So my point is simple, if Cote advertise an offer, it should be simple to fulfil. In conclusion: if you promise something then please follow through, it made me feel uncomfortable having to persist. Thanks

This is and has been for a very long time my favourite restaurant in Newbury. The lobster was the best I've ever tasted...see you again soon!

We had a lovely evening meal at Cote Newbury last night. The staff were very friendly, attentive but not intrusive. A mistake on one of our meals was put right without question and no charge was made for the meal. An excellent impression was made on the one person in our party who had never eaten at Cote. We will be back.

Food was amazing and service was spot on. Will be back very soon. Think its time to try the breakfast menu.
