Côte Newbury

Food absolutely superb. Lovely atmosphere in a busy bustling restaurant.. Service was slow and as we had a 5 & 7 year old with us it proved difficult to keep them occupied. Super night all the same.

The food, when we received it was as usual good, but there were long delays throughout our visit. I was served a salmon dish when I had ordered Sea Bass. This was changed for the correct dish but in order to do so our server also took wife's plate away as well. There was then a long delay for the kitchen to provide my correct choice, and when we were served again my wife's Breton sea food stew had cooled considerably. At the end there was another long delay waiting to receive the bill. Perhaps beacause it was a Saturday, We normally use Cote Newbury during the week and untill yesterday we have been very happy.

Highly recommended, had the butter chicken which was awesome, all in all great food, top service with friendly staff, good work!

Overall the experience was very good but very noisy at times.

Always a lovely relaxed atmosphere with very attentive waiting staff and delicious fresh food. A lovely way to start a birthday with mimosas and breakfast 😋

We have used Cote restaurants for years and were delighted when one opened in Newbury and it quickly became our go to restaurant. It is great value and the food and service have been consistently good. However, our visit on the 26th was not good. . Food took ages to come and when our starters eventually arrived the young waiter instantly spotted that the moules smelt awful when he took off the lid. These were replaced by another starter. The meal was edible but well below standard. Hopefully this was just a blip because of problems in the kitchen. Throughout our waiter Juan, I think, remained courteous and polite. He has served us many times, has a lovely welcoming smile, is very polite and nothing is ever too much trouble for him. He deserves to go far.

As usual with Cotes, service was quick and efficient and both first and second courses arrived in a timely fashion. Unfortunately my wife decided she would like a pudding. Having been asked if we would like to see what was on offer, it took just over half an hour for the menu to get to us. Somewhere along the line, the order of an apple tart then got lost, and it didn't reach the table for another thirty minutes, with much apologising. We gave up waiting for the bill and went and camped by the till.

It was a hit day, but staff were really polite, friendly and speedy. The food was delicious too.

A little disappointed in the service. Initially we were rushed to order drinks, even though it was only 12 noon and we were waiting for the rest of the party to arrive. One of my guests was given the wrong meal, incorrectly ordered, which she accepted probably because she was a guest. No compensation for this.... Not the service I have experienced in the past at Cote.

Always good at the Cote, favorite place in Newbury - been twice this week

Service was slow despite not being busy. We were there for 20 min before being asked if we wanted a drink. Not sure I like the people in black walking around with the food while they wait for a waiter to hand out the food. Seems a bit pointless. Food not going straight to the table.

We eat at Cote Newbury regularly ( 3 or 4 times/month). Usually the experience is excellent. The last two visits have however been poor. The Food was good, but the service seems to have deteriorated. Today we waited 15 minutes after being seated to place a drinks order, which then took far longer than usual to arrive - and the restaurant was not busy. The experienced and good staff - whom we have got to know well all seem to have disappeared, and the number of staff seems to have been cut back since the introduction of the tablet based ordering system. This has resulted in a decline in the overall experience.

Great service last night. Our waiter was attentive, polite, helpful and professional.

It was apparent that the staff had changed completely since our last visit only a few months ago. There was a distinct lack of professionalism and experience. Our impression, therefore, is that the service at Cote has gone down hill. We will not be returning unless the quality of service improves.

Met up with some old friends for lunch. Really enjoyed ourselves. Thought it was good value for money and the service was very good. Would recommend it

We booked a table on the 8th of June for a 40th birthday party for 25 people and we book the upstairs as we wanted to be seated together We arrived there to fine we would be sitting on two separate tables each side of the room down stairs Which was very disappointing We had friends travel from wales that day For the meal and could not sit with them It was very embarrassing for us and very unprofessional of your selfs We have always used your restaurant since opening but probably not in the future.

Our meal today was exceptional. From the starters to the coffee and hot chocolate. Everything hot and delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed our Negronis and the apple tart with ice cream added to the treat. Great staff. Wonderful service and superb meal. Looking forward to going back again next week! 👍 😉

Our server was delightful. It was her first day but coped very well and was super enthusiastic.

The food and service was very good. Just one gripe......I think all available menus should be given to customers when they are seated rather than being expected to guess there is a vegetarian menu (after being seated for 20 minutes)

Good food and lovely staff! A good Friday evening at Côte Brasserie Newbury!

The lady serving us seemed to not want to be there. A few times it seemed/felt we were a problem. So when it came to the tip. We decided we would give a small amount not the recommended amount on the receipt. This really upset her as she had to change the receipt etc. Had she smiled and been less hard to approach we would have tipped her properly.

Great service as always, food perfect and very fairly priced.

Wonderfully welcoming as always. Caring staff, looked after all our dietary requirements and food was very tasty.

Normally really good ,however this time they forgot one of the meals so that person had to wait albeit only 5 minutes, also paying by cash caused a problem as no change was offered even though it was only 30p the choice should have been ours to give

We like this restaurant and the service was as always good although a little slower than usual due to Fathers Day. Unfortunately my husbands steak was not as good as usual. We mentioned this and the waiter apologised and gave us our coffees for free.

Set lunch menu is excellent value and offers a good choice. Pleasant staff and good location

Cote is our favorite for dinner but breakfast today was exceptional. The service is always excellent and friendly. Booking is a pleasure and getting our favorite table most times gives us something to look forward to. Keep it up Cote!!!!

A great place . All staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was served promptly and was hot. Would recommend it to others.
