Côte Newcastle

Perfect from start to finish. The food was fabulous and our lovely waitress recommended some dishes we might like (she was right). The onion soup and fish stew were to die for. My husband had the creme brulee which was so good he wouldn't let me have a taste. If you haven't tried Cote brasserie before do your taste buds a favour and book a table!

Limited vegetarian options and not very exciting/interesting. Food was nice but not good value for a vegetarian with starter using same cheese as main course and only other option being a salad. Lots of places to get pasta as a main course cheaper though it was well cooked.

Always great food, service and atmosphere even in these strange times. Felt safe and comfortable.

We had a lovely meal steak and frites with a bottle of house wine followed by cheese bread and grapes not to mention the delicious complimentary cocktail delicious all covid friendly we even got to use our vouchers we had from Xmas . Thanks to all the staff xx

After an initial wait to be seated, the service was excellent from our server Laura, attentive but not intrusive and very accommodating to our needs and requests. The breakfast/brunch menu offered a good choice and the food was cooked well, tasty and presented nicely. The ambience felt relaxed and really was like a little piece of Paris in the ‘toon’. A very positive first experience and definitely would visit again to try the lunch/dinner. Good job team CBN

The restaurant was quiet,these strange times! However the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was good although my "minute" steak was just a little overdone and slightly chewy,but when the bill arrived,we weren't charged for it,a nice surprise and a good gesture. We will return

Great to be back after lockdown, standard as high as ever

It was my partners 50th birthday and there was some confusion over whether I could take cake/balloons which I understood because of COVID. In the end I took neither but was assured that they would do something to mark the occasion. The food was as delicious as usual so no complaints there and the staff friendly and efficient. Sadly though there was nothing from the restaurant to mark the special occasion we had come in for even though it had been mentioned a few times.

Same enjoyment of food and felt safe in restaurant re cleaning.

The staff were faced with a customer taken poorly and they coped with that and continued to see to their other customers in a very calm professional manner.

It's so good to see Côte has reopened in Newcastle once more. The menu for A la carte was the same prior to lockdown so we knew exactly what we wanted. The service was both seamless and faultless. Won't be long until our next visit!

We were so glad to be able to return to Cote Newcastle for breakfast. The staff were faultless and our food was lovely.

It's good to be back at Cote. I was one of those who added my name to the email list to be told when Newcastle was reopening. When I received that email, I booked a table for last night. Subsequently I received another email offering a free cocktail if I booked now. But I had already booked, being a loyal customer. On arrival, we said that we would like one of the cocktails, I had a G&T instead. We told the waiter that we had booked before the email offering the complimentary cocktail, and he said that was no problem, we could have one. At the end of the meal when the bill arrived we were told we would have to pay for the complimentary cocktail as we had not booked our table via the link on the email. No, being loyal customers and wishing to support the reopening, we had already booked. Our support was rewarded by having to pay for the cocktail that other, less loyal, customers received free of charge! Next, we asked for the sourdough bread to eat while we drank our drinks and read the menu. The waiter wanted to know if we were ready to order, we were not. He was back quite quickly so we did order, food and wine. The wine came immediately, but we were hardly started on the pre-dinner drinks and bread. The bread was served without side plates, and the butter was frozen and rock hard, not a good start. Then very quickly our starters arrive while we were still enjoying the bread and drinks. A bit rushed. But, moaning aside, the starters were very nice, we enjoyed them. The main course arrived very soon after, a bit too quickly again, but again, they were very good. I had the Beef Bourguignon, a Cote favourite for me, and it was very nice. The waiter then returned to ask if we had finished our mains, when were were still eating! Soon after we actually finished he came back, removed the plates and brought the dessert menu. He was back quite quickly, again, to ask what we would like. We said we would like five or ten minutes to actually digest the main course before we ordered desserts, suspecting they might arrive quite quickly! I think he was back in about four minutes, so we ordered and not surprisingly, the desserts arrived very quickly. But they were very nice. Sadly, Covid to blame of course, the restaurant was not very busy, especially sad as it was a Saturday night. This allowed the waiter to be over attentive and the kitchen staff to cook for us without delay. That all having been said, Cote is a great restaurant, the food was very nice and we were pleased to be back. But we quite like to have an evening out, and not just an hour and fifteen minutes. A little tip here: Be less attentive so I am in the restaurant longer and I am bound to need a second bottle of wine! We didn't need it last night. The staff though were nice, friendly and certainly attentive. They were fully PPD equipped and social distancing was in full effect. So great to back at Cote, but please can we have side plates and a more relaxed service next time. Thanks again, and see you soon.

Always a lovely brunching experience. I highly rate the vegetarian breakfast as it's bursting with fresh food and colour. I haven't found anywhere else that does such a good vegetarian breakfast. Fabulous coffee too.
